Morning Training

Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on April 24th.

[Lily hadn't been able to sense much else before he shrugged her off. Textiles had always been easier for her to read than stones or metal so it was a bit of a surprise she even felt anything from that strange black armor. Still, that scary feeling concerned her... Was he dangerous?]

Um, I'm sorry. Are you okay? [Trying not to be too obvious about her intention, she gave his shoulder a little pat and left her hand there, concentrating on the armor's vibrations and trying to sense if there was anything off-kilter, demon-like. She'd probably get a better reading if she could hold it in her arms but with the pointy bits and the scowling man wearing it, that seemed as advisable as cuddling a porcupine.]

[Though he continued to scowl, one of his eyebrows rose. Was he okay? What sort of question was that when she was the one who tripped? He had no idea what to make of this.]

Cease that at once... [While he waved her hand away, his expression turned back to a blank slate. It was perhaps the only warning she was going to get... not that he would actually harm her. Meister or Weapon, she did not cross him as the fighting type. There was killing warriors and then slaying civilians.]

[Well, someone sure was cheerful. The scowl reminded Lily of her friend Sailor, a bitter misanthropic psychic with a dark air hovering around him. Irritation tended to be Sailor's usual reaction to her so she wasn't too daunted by this stranger's scowl.]

Sorry. Is something wrong? [He seemed overly grouchy for someone just accidentally bumping into him. She removed her hand although she hadn't managed a full reading—the scowl might not have been too bad but she wasn't eager to test the armor's sharpness. Strange... Had she sensed a bit of depression from the armor? And she couldn't quite put her finger on exactly what it is about the wavelength but she had the feeling Mr. Grumpypants was a Meister.]

[Does everyone have to ask this ridiculous questions?]

Nothing is wrong. Just... I'd rather you not touch me. [He doesn't understand physical contact with strangers unless it's a fight.]

Are you sure that's all? You don't look very happy and you're standing over here all by yourself instead of practicing or looking for a Weapon or whatever it is those folks who come here in the mornings do. [She spoke without realizing the little slip which implied he was a Meister.]

[He didn't miss the slip.]

I was not aware you were capable of telling Meisters and Weapons apart. [Because really, that's all he's been waiting for. What's wrong with the way he looks?]

[A brief look of panic crossed her face as she realized her mistake. Dag nab it! She had been trying to avoid suggesting she had any kind of powers.]

...Um, I mean, you look like you'd be a Meister, with that armor and all! [The words come out a bit too quickly to be convincing and she smiled nervously.]

[He opts to staring at her because he really doesn't believe that.]

[Darn. It looked like he didn't believe her. Would it be too suspicious if she just excused herself and ran away? Probably.]

...It was just a guess!

Guesses are no use to me.

[Was he a Meister or wasn't he?]

[She blinked.] You mean you didn't know?

[From his reaction, she had assumed it meant that he already knew he was a Meister and wanted to know how she correctly came to that conclusion without being told.]

No. I was never told.

[He wouldn't be standing there if he did.]

Those people at the school didn't try to tell you? Or did you... [run away like I did?]... Um, nevermind. [Not being the best informed about events in the city, she hadn't heard about BREW's erratic behavior lately.]

[Aqua walked him out. What is she insinuating?]

Huh. Really? They had machines for it and I thought they tried to tell everyone after showing the group around the city.

[He shakes his head. He didn't remember anything of the sort.]

They didn't use the machines? They claimed there were also folks who could look at your soul and tell you. [She supposed it might have been like how she could read auras back home.]

[He doesn't reply. It felt like he just answered this question. There was no 'machine'...]

[Strange... Wasn't that what they usually did? She recalled stumbling on another tour group once some time after she arrived. Now, she wondered if she'd just confused him earlier.] Well, I have a hunch you're a Meister.

Would there be any way to confirm your hunch? Without the use of these machines you speak of.

Could have been better. Finished my costume but had a cold all weekend.

Stitches, glasses, and what looked like a giant screw through his head. [Lily had thought the screw must have been fake but with the strange things she had seen here since, she wasn't so sure anymore.]

I forget what his name was... [Names tended to be the one place where her memory failed.]

Oh man...

Yeah. And a broken down taxi and minor costume malfunctions. I think Lily's luck rubbed off on me!
