Morning Training

Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on April 24th.

[ Even though there was a warning for it ahead of time, it catches Sakura completely off-guard. Her breath hitches as an initial response, but then instinct takes over. With a series of flips that were practically inhuman to make, she places a significant amount of distance between the two.

Several yards worth to be exact. ]

That! [ She manages to speak in between trying to pace her breathing and already she's broken out into a sweat due to the exhaustion that plagues her. ] That is your ability here?

[ritsu_kouyou]

[Akiha narrowed her eyes, but there was some defensiveness in them. She didn't like how close to the truth her Meister ability was...]

I did warn you.

[punches]

Haa.. [ Cocking her head to the side as she moves her arm out from her as though she's brushing it off. ] If that's all, it'll take a lot more than that to keep me from finishing this!

[ That's something Naruto might say, wasn't it? With the confirmation in her mind that it was, she sprints back towards her with renewed vigor. ]

You better not think about holding back either!

[Akiha kind of saw through that bravado, knowing the Bite had gotten to Sakura, but she was relieved to see that response than any of a number of other possibilities. And she was willing to continue. The girl must be a glutton for punishment or something.]

It's not wise to demand I don't hold back. I'm sure someone would miss you, Haruno.

[Akiha ducked the ensuing attack and countered with a few punches the ninja blocked.]

Well, someone other than me.

[A couple more blows traded and Sakura clipped Akiha in the jaw. Ouch. The girl was strong for being a human. With a grunt of pain, Akiha lowered her center of gravity, grabbed Sakura's wrist and pulled to throw her off balance, allowing her to send an elbow right into the girl's stomach.

And steal more energy.]

[punches]

[ Sakura's definitely looking to be punished here. It isn't fair that she's here enjoying such a peaceful life while so many of her comrades are busy at home fighting in that war.

Each time, she'll go back for more no matter how much it hurts. Because that's what Naruto would do. Because that's what Sasuke would do. Because that's what she was taught by Tsunade. No matter how much it hurts, you just can't give up. ]

Haa, you think they would? [ Still, she manages to say something depressing. ] We were raised to accept that we could die at any given time. There's never any time to grieve.

[ritsu_kouyou]

[Akiha pushes Sakura back and rubs her sore jaw a moment.]

That is stupid. If you're not given time to grieve, death becomes something impersonal.

[The meister had to bring her hands up quickly to block Sakura's next attack. It was like the more energy she took from the girl, the harder she was working to make it look like she wasn't suffering from exhaustion at all. Was it just that the ninja had that much stamina or was she...]

And that makes killing an easy thing to do.

[Attacking back, Akiha frowned as she found herself momentarily upside down as she'd gotten caught in a throw. Sakura was more skilled in hand-to-hand than Akiha, but that was to be expected as a ninja. Or so Akiha assumed.

And no, she did not mean to flash Sakura her panties while doing a kipup in a skirt to get back on her feet.]

[punches]

[ Never fear, she's seen enough. Slumber parties and spending time with Ino meant there was a lot of talk about panties at an age too young for most. ]

That's why. [ Killing has to be easy for a shinobi. So long as they don't stray from the path they were taught and find pleasure in doing so. ] Death has to be that way for us!

[ Her downtime will serve some advantage to Sakura to close the distance between them with the intent of trying to strike her down. She has to admit that Akiha was really great at dodging, but Sakura was beginning to learn her style. Easily enough, it's certain that Akiha was beginning to find the openings she has. A lot of Sakura's combat training focused on attacking from a distance by tearing up the earth and without her chakra to bolster her strength, she's not nearly as frightening as she was back in Konoha.

Losing her energy does start to take it's toll on her as her swings are more drawn out and her feet steadily becoming sluggish. ]

[ritsu_kouyou]

[Back on her feet, Akiha dodges the attack, but her roundhouse kick was blocked. Her eyes narrow as she finds the whole having to kill easily thing so... wrong.]

Monsters kill easily. Monsters don't care. Life is supposed to be precious.

[Akiha took a hit to the chest but she supposed it would've hurt more if she wasn't flat as a board. Stumbling back a step, she regained her footing and circled, watching for the moment when Sakura telegraphed her next move thanks to the exhaustion. Slipping just past the blow, she landed a double strike on the ninja's side, sapping her energy with each hit, then shoving the girl back as far as she could before rubbing her sore chest.]

Leave that kind of thing to the monsters.

[punches]

[ Sakura's finally at her limit as she falls over onto her back with the shove. Rolling onto her side, she'll prop her head up just so she can look towards her. ]

It is precious. [ She can admit that much. ] Just because shinobi can kill easily doesn't mean we're incapable of thinking that.

[ritsu_kouyou]

That still doesn't change the fact that no one should be able to kill another person easily.

...are you okay?

[punches]

It's what we've been raised to do since we were young. Just because it wasn't necessarily the right thing to do in your world--[ Or most others, she's come to learn. ]--it was a part of everyday life back home.

And yeah. [ Grunting as she tries to sit up. ] Just a bit tired. I haven't had a workout this exhausting in weeks.

[ritsu_kouyou]

[Akiha walked over to offer a hand up.]

I swear you must be a masochist.

[punches]

I'm not a masochist.

[ She's quick to deny that as she takes her hand. ] I'm just a good fighter.

[ritsu_kouyou]

The more you get hurt, the more you throw yourself into the fight. It's like you want the pain or injury.

[punches]

Other people might call that persistence.

[ritsu_kouyou]

In a real battle, I'd agree. This isn't that. [She smirks a little.]

[punches]

Every fight is a real one to me, Akiha. [ Flaring her nostrils. ]

At least I put in the effort to imply that it is.

[ritsu_kouyou]

Shall I treat our next spar like this as a real battle then? [There was something almost chilling in Akiha's smile then.]

[punches]

You better.

[ Sakura hates it when people hold back, especially when they're someone she fights alongside. ]

It'll be better for the both of us.

[ritsu_kouyou]

Are you sure you want to feel my Bite again?

[punches]

Better I get used to it from someone I know than from a complete stranger. I wouldn't want to be caught off-guard with it.

[ritsu_kouyou]

I think it's something only Meisters can do.

[punches]

Meisters can be strangers too.

[ It'd be stupid to assume everyone's on the same side here. ]

I suppose you have a point there, though I've yet to see any enemy Meisters.
