Morning Training

Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on April 24th.

[Chika nods, listening to everything that he says.]

Yeah. I figured it wasn't going to be easy. But it's definitely a useful skill to have, and since I've yet to find a weapon that I couldn't resonate with here, I figured I should give it a shot.

Yeah? [He'd never heard of Soul BFF.]

Well if you got no problem resonating with anybody, ya might have an easier time with it than I did.

[So he jerked a thumb off to where a large group was practicing resonance, pairing exercises being overseen by an agent of Shibusen.]

Let's go pull a few people from there.

[Off he goes in that direction, and he's all ready waving to the instructor. With the way they nodded back, it seemed they knew each other.]

Yo! Lemme borrow two students from ya. Weapons! Gonna try showin' my friend somethin'.

[That seemed reasonable enough. The instructor was now dismissing two of the students.]

[Chika giggled.]

Yep!

[And don't worry, she hadn't heard of it either. But she's all ready to watch once those two weapon students come over.]

[He nodded to the two and explained the situation. They seemed a tiny bit wary at first - perhaps because of how Kanji looked - but nodded quickly so as not to agitate him. Kanji missed this completely.]

A'right. Easiest way to go about it is to let 'em transform, but don't resonate with 'em yet. It's kinda like climbing into water that's too hot or cold, I guess... y'know, slide in real slow until y'get used to it.

[He held out his hands and made a come-hither motion to the two of them. They shrugged - ah, what the hell - and shifted forms. One transformed into a morning star. The other became a rather wicked-looking baseball bat dotted with nails.]

'Course, they'll be heavy since no connection's made. ...Go!

[Kanji blew out a breath and focused. His left arm holding the morning star sagged a bit, but the other lightened. His brow furrowed as he fought to concentrate a little more.]

Come on, damn it, work with me!

[And slowly - very, very slowly - the morning star was lighter again.]

Okay. Right now, I'm resonating with 'em. These two are cooperating, but as it is I wouldn't win a fight with 'em. Mr. Morning Star here's scared as shit of me, for starters, and our connection's shit because we're strangers.

But if I were to resonate with Naoto and... let's say Yako-san, I'd be able to stomp a Kishin Egg before it could so much as blink.

[Ah. He was sweating a little bit. This was exerting a bit of energy keeping resonance with two strangers, and his arms were starting to sag a little. With a signal through his mental link, the two pulled away and shifted back into their human forms. Kanji rolled his shoulders.]

A'right... you try. Let 'em shift, don't resonate, then ease it in. The minute they feel too heavy or if they feel a little too warm, stop it right there and go no further. I ain't here to get your hands burned from rejection.

[Chika smiled as she listened intently to Kanji. And sure enough, it didn't seem like he had much to worry about with it. She introduced herself to the other weapons, and held out her hands so the two of them could transform.

Once they were in her hands though, holy crap they got heavy. She tightens her grip on them, and slowly starts to focus, starting the resonation.

Wow. Having both of them was making it a lot harder to actually resonate. She wondered if this was what it felt like for everyone else when they first tried it. Either way though, there was nothing to worry about. She was going to make sure that she did it.

And sure enough, eventually, the two of them managed to get lighter without too much trouble.]

Wow. You're right. It really is a lot more difficult.

[She moves her hands with both weapons, to demonstrate that yes, she was actually doing it. Now just to see how long she could hold it fo...

Oh. The bat was getting heavy and hot. Time to stop.]

... Okay. Wow. That didn't last long at all.

[He oversaw the process as the two shifted again, and watched Chika's hands as she began the resonance. Lifted a brow when the Weapons grew lighter almost immediately. She wasn't kidding around when she said she had no problem resonating!]

Nice, Chika!

[But her hand sagged, and he took a step forward. It would be tricky, but if he had to, he could take one of those Weapons off her hands. It'd cause a little shock of resonance transference, but it was something he could deal with.]

Slow and steady, break resonance with one Weapon at a time, starting with the one that's most difficult so y'don't hurt yourself.

[Still, he looked impressed.]

But that ain't bad for a first try. It's like they always say, 'strong body and mind makes for a strong soul'. You keep training, take some time to practice with people ya know, and you'll get the hang of it eventually. Takuto and I are actually thinkin' about offering classes for this stuff pretty soon. Since this stuff's pretty tough the class is gonna be small, but it means we can focus more on each three-person group, y'know?

[Chika sighs, doing what he says, and then letting the two weapons go away.]

Thanks, Kanji-san. That was... pretty wow. Definitely something else. I guess it'd be a lot easier if it's with people I know.

[Chika blinks, looking over at him for a moment.]

You and Takuto-kun? You're both planning on teaching this?

'Wow' is one way of puttin' it. I asked Kid if people could wield three weapons or like, wear a full set of Weapons like some knight or whatever, but he told me it kinda spreads the soul thin. Two's enough to do the job, but only if you can really do it, y'know?

And yeah. Way easier doin' it with people who know each other. The fact that we both managed with two complete strangers says we got the potential.

[A nod.]

He knows how, too. There are a lot of unpaired Meisters and Weapons lookin' to get out there and do somethin', but Dual Resonance demands a strong soul. Stronger souls means stronger resonance, so even if they can't do a Dual they come out a little tougher than before. I mean, that's my theory anyway.

Yeah. Triple resonance would be kinda cool though, if someone could to it. Especially if one of the weapon's wasn't a normal weapon, but was something more like a helmet or something.

[She giggles at that.]

Well, like I said, I've never actually had trouble resonating with anyone before. So it makes sense how to do it.

As for Takuto-kun, well, I guess that makes sense. He's certainly pretty outgoing and stuff...

Either way, practice where ya can, but don't push it. We'll work out announcing we're offering the classes when we get our shit worked out.

I gotta head out, figure out that weird glowy Weapon thing.

[She gives him a giggle, before waiting for him to go off.]
