It had been a little over a week since the sandstorm, and thus a little over a week since the last batch of newcomers. When the readings indicated that BREW was activating again so quickly, it was a bit of a scramble to get everything prepared. The last time it activated before then was early February, so this really was a small time frame. It had been some time since that happened.

But everyone dutifully prepared just in time for the first arrivals. It was also a relatively good day despite the past few rain showers. At least things were much calmer now.

"...a cat? Tch."

Akiha glared at Blair. This place was getting more and more ridiculous with each passing moment. She just wanted to go home, not deal with an inadequate tour guide that was also a cat.

She hated cats.

Blair was playful, just like most cats were. But when someone wandered onto her turf and showed disrespect, they didn't get away with it. "Nyaa?" She leaned forward a bit, making eye contact with the girl. "What's this? A dog?" She giggled. The new guest was probably just jealous--and Blair was used to dealing with jealous girls.

Akiha was a jealous girl, indeed, but not of Blair. Had she not been a cat, the generous chest she had would've made Akiha a bit jealous given she, herself, was flat as a board. But not a cat.

"Far from it. If you're the kind of creature this place deems to be worthy, I'm not sure I want to associate with it. You're a lazy, pathetic tour guide that's not even doing whatever job you were given," Akiha snapped. "If you're a good example of what we're going to be forced to deal with here, perhaps this war will be easier to end than I originally assumed and I can be back home sooner rather than later."

Oh, she was one of those kinds of girls--the kind that thought they were better than everyone else. Death City had a lot of guests like that, at least until they witnessed the power of a real witch. Only then did they begin to realize the danger they were all in. Blair let the woman ramble on.

She whispered softly, "Pum-pumpkin-pumpkin~". As her index finger swayed several miniature jack-o-lantern pumpkins appeared heading straight towards the jealous girl's face. Oh, relax! Blair wasn't going really hurt the guest. Maybe just startle her. But only a little! Otherwise Maka might be upset with the magical cat for scaring off new students. Then she'd never hear the end of it!

That was a fair assessment; Akiha did think she was better than everyone else. BREW having quelled her demon blood or not, she was still a Tohno. And no cat was going to rattle her.

She didn't know what the little pumpkins were for, but having them appearing out of nowhere and then launched at her face did not improve her mood any. She'd had far more dangerous things sent at her like black keys. Without hesitation, her hand came up to quickly deflect the things, not knowing that they might explode...

The pumpkins burst into a swirl of dark purple smoke. They had been harmless. Blair giggled, "Hey, you're pretty good!" Not everyone who arrived in Death City had excellent fighting skills. It was nice to see someone who did, because she wanted the war to be over with as soon as possible too. Blair had made many new friends since Death the Kid's wish, and she's seen more than her fair share of them leave.

Maybe after this new girl gets over her jealousy issues, they could be friends too. "But'cha can't beat a witch yet. You gotta find a partner first."

The dark purple smoke just made Akiha frown and cross her arms.

"Of course, I am. And it'll only be a matter of time before I can beat a witch," Akiha replied. "Are you done playing silly games now?"

No... they would probably never be friends.

"Oh, you're the boring serious kind, huh?" Too bad. Akiha wasn't going to have very much fun here if she didn't learn to loosen up a bit. "Nyaa," Blair sighed with disappointment. Oh well, there would be others. One final thing to ask then. "Any questions?" However, she didn't sound terribly enthused to be helping Akiha anymore.

At the 'boring serious' comment, Akiha's lips turned up a bit in a chilling smile. She chose not to respond in any other manner to the barb, letting Blaire draw her own conclusions.

"Yes. Shopping requires money and since I doubt my card will work here, how do we acquire it? I'm not going to live as a pauper."

Uhuh. This girl was definitely someone to watch out for. "You get a job, like everyone else." There were plenty of jobs at Death City. In fact, she would probably do well at Chupa Cabra. But this magical cat lady didn't want this new mean guest as a coworker. "Blair thinks you're best suited for trash pick up.~ Then you'll have an excuse for that awful smell."

"Perhaps if you bathed yourself better your scent wouldn't cling to those around you," Akiha replied back. "You have a human form. Try using soap and water instead of just licking yourself."

"Meowha! Jealous, na?" Little did this girl know that Blair was a huge proponent of baths, and took at least one daily. "Hey, relax. Blair is good looking enough that I can use my flexibility in other ways."

"You mistake me for someone who cares," Akiha replied with a toss of her hair. The insinuation there was disgusting. Blair was a cat.

"Uhuh." And Aikha was a human. So what? "If you're done being a brat, you can go fall down some stairs. They say it's the best way to discover yourself here. You shouldn't have a problem finding someone to push ya.~"

If only Akiha was just a human...

"I'll keep you in mind when I decide to acquire a violin. I'm sure I'll be needing some replacement strings." Catgut made wonderful strings.

And with that, Akiha walked past Blair as if she didn't exist.
