[OPEN] April 2013 Introduction Log
Characters: Volunteers, Newcomers and OPEN for mingling!
Location: All Around Death City
Rating: Varies
Time: May 19th, All Day
Description: Welcome to Death City.
BREW doesn't think about kidnappings, activists or the hot, dry weather that hangs over the desert city this week. After powering up, giving energy readings on the night of the 18th that alerted Shibusen to new arrivals, they turn now to volunteers to assist in giving the newcomers the information and supplies they need.
Perhaps you're one of the ones who woke up in the Kishin Chamber on the morning of the 19th. Perhaps you live in Casualty Communal and were woken up by equipment transporting strange x-ray machines to rest in front of the building, prepared to scan the fresh meat and determine which are Meisters and which are Weapons.
Regardless, it's looking a little more like old times... let's give them a warm welcome, shall we?
[ooc: Newcomers! Simply tag in to any or all of the sections here and volunteers will pop right up to greet you ASAP! The last section is completely OPEN for newcomers, volunteers, or Guests all ready in Death City who want to come up and say hello. Have fun!]

Casualty Communal (Soul Perception)
Don't be shy! Step forward and get a peek at that funny little blob floating in your body - that's your soul, you know - to find out if BREW has made you a Meister or a Weapon. Don't forget to request the keys to your new apartment and your communicator!

She smiled politely at the next person in line as she finished with the last person. "Can I have the next person come over?"

She came to a stop, stiff, almost formal as she regarded the woman who had called her expectantly. Better to get this over with so she could figure out just what she had at her disposal now her weapons were gone.

"The machine needs a moment to warm up. For now, please could you please stand over there?" She gestures to a spot in front of the machine.

She pointed to the staircase, "Those steps are a typical hazard, but the quickest way to transform. You shouldn't throw yourself down them unless you are a Weapon. Finally, no one leaves unless BREW decides to send you away and one or two people actually understand how BREW calculates that. If you want to, you could have your Soul Perceived at morning training by Stein-sensei... Those hours are 6 AM to 9 AM."

Of course, by the time she gets there, she watched quite a few others go through the process. Learning if she was a Weapon or a Meister so easily would be particularly useful!

"Next please..."

"Hello there." she gave a slight nod "So how does this work?"

Naoto pointed both out as she explained so Ghoulia could pick.

After finding his way towards the dormitory, Sanae had seated himself on a bench beneath a tree, smoking a cigarette as he watched his fellow newly-arrived guests get scanned. It wasn't that he'd never had his Soul observed -- far from. But he usually avoided hanging out on the Higher Plane where it more or less hung out for all his compatriots to see.
Sanae was a man of secrets and the idea of some stranger poking around inside him to look at his Soul was a little disconcerting. Especially considering that 'Soul' seemed to have a different definition than what he was used to. How would his now mortal Soul translate in a place like this?
He hadn't been able to get a good look at what the screens showed when they were scanning. He'd overheard mentions of this 'Stein' guy being able to take a more close, personal look, but at least this way he could hope the volunteers trained on the scanners weren't trained to take too close of a look. Not to mention he was terribly curious as to this whole 'Weapon/Meister' thing. Would he have been shoved into one of those? He couldn't help but think he was a little different to most of the newcomers.
Probably anyway. Impossible to tell.
Well, it seemed as though he'd gathered as much intel as he could without actually going through. Putting out his cigarette, he finally shuffled into one of the lines.

Oh well, just mark as another arrival processed. The detective should at least make note of names, but it was more she was keeping a tally of Meisters and Weapons to see what was the majority BREW decided to deliver. So far, Weapons were taking the lead. There were a number of Meisters without so she supposed it was a way of compensating.
Glancing up, she nodded to the man was waiting now. "Follow me, sir."

With an easy smile, he stepped forward when the young woman nodded to him. "Mind givin' me an idea on how these things work?" It wasn't a demand for before he let her do her job, he was just wondering exactly how this all worked.
The whole Weapon/Meister thing was still entirely bizarre to him.

For now, though, she'll try to put that out of her mind.
She smiled politely at the next person in line after the previous one left. "If you want to get your soul scanned, please step forward."

"That would be me. My name is Yukio Okumura, and I suppose that you are the one that would be looking into my soul?" The boy asked, his tone clip and professional sounding.

Why is this here. Why is he here. Why this.
He wouldn't even be bothering with this rampant horseshit if he still had his sylladex. He had enough experience to know better than to just blindly follow foreign orders like a sheep, and while he knew that he technically did have options, he was still a spoiled aristocrat who knew that this was, currently, the best course of action.
Ugh, and a line--this was demeaning, but apparently he had to go through it in order to get his supplies and settle in for the day. Luckily it wasn't long.

She also knew when someone was likely to be more unpleasant than others. She's also seen her fair share of disgruntled Guests since she was brought here as well.
Still, she was polite when she called for him. Who knows? She could be wrong.
"Could I have the next person come up?"

As he was going over his list of affairs, his thoughts were interrupted by a feminine chime.
Now, Dualscar wasn't necessarily unpleasant. He was just in foul mood at the moment, and apparently expected to subject himself to the most outlandish procedures. It helped that she minded her demeanor around him.
"I was told to report here for further briefing in regards to my..'soul.'" However the fuck that was supposed to work. He sounded judgmental and skeptical.
Clearly, he just wanted to be done with the whole bureaucratic process and go about his own business.

As he meandered towards the line, tables and their x-rays, he couldn't help but feel a little anxious. X-rays meant doctors. Doctors meant check-ups. He didn't know he would have to have a physical to find out if he was a meister or not! It wasn't a problem but it still made him wonder if he would have to take off his clothes or anything.
He was really hoping he didn't have too. He still smelled like his previous mission and on top of that there were things that just shouldn't be seen unless otherwise stated! There was no going back now, so better to just get it over with now than to worry about it for a moment longer!
If only the line would move a little faster.

Aqua couldn't always wear the outfit she came to Death City in, but the style of clothes she wore was usually reminiscent of it. Today she was wearing a dark sleeveless shirt with a high collar, and jeans.
When she finished with the last person she looked up with a polite smile, "Could I have the next person come up, please?"

It was a girl.
A pretty girl who dyed her hair blue.
He felt a little sheepish in her presence. If he knew he'd be check out by a girl, he'd had done something to his hair. But that would only work if she didn't already think he looked a little weird. Or like a troublemaker. Or both. It was better to just roll with it, he figured.
"Whoa...Am I really at the right place to figure if I'm a Meister or not?" Because she didn't look like a doctor. But maybe doctors in this world didn't wear coats. Maybe they were all just ... nice receptionists with qualifications to be doctors? It was a new world, anything was possible.
...omg, Rin. Why so cute?
