[OPEN] April 2013 Introduction Log

Characters: Volunteers, Newcomers and OPEN for mingling!
Location: All Around Death City
Rating: Varies
Time: May 19th, All Day
Description: Welcome to Death City.

BREW doesn't think about kidnappings, activists or the hot, dry weather that hangs over the desert city this week. After powering up, giving energy readings on the night of the 18th that alerted Shibusen to new arrivals, they turn now to volunteers to assist in giving the newcomers the information and supplies they need.

Perhaps you're one of the ones who woke up in the Kishin Chamber on the morning of the 19th. Perhaps you live in Casualty Communal and were woken up by equipment transporting strange x-ray machines to rest in front of the building, prepared to scan the fresh meat and determine which are Meisters and which are Weapons.

Regardless, it's looking a little more like old times... let's give them a warm welcome, shall we?

[ooc: Newcomers! Simply tag in to any or all of the sections here and volunteers will pop right up to greet you ASAP! The last section is completely OPEN for newcomers, volunteers, or Guests all ready in Death City who want to come up and say hello. Have fun!]

There was always something absolutely awesome about huge buildings. Yeah, Casualty Communal had nothing on True Cross Academy, but its height was still impressive. Rin gawked at the sight of it, craning his neck as far back as he could to try and catch a glimpse at where the dorms met the sky. Was this what it was like to look at a skyscraper? Man, it was almost Kyoto all over again - except there wasn't much to say about the people and the buildings just weren't that old.

As he meandered towards the line, tables and their x-rays, he couldn't help but feel a little anxious. X-rays meant doctors. Doctors meant check-ups. He didn't know he would have to have a physical to find out if he was a meister or not! It wasn't a problem but it still made him wonder if he would have to take off his clothes or anything.

He was really hoping he didn't have too. He still smelled like his previous mission and on top of that there were things that just shouldn't be seen unless otherwise stated! There was no going back now, so better to just get it over with now than to worry about it for a moment longer!

If only the line would move a little faster.

At the very least, when he finally got to the front of the line (or close enough to it to see the people working the machines) he'd see that one of the people there was dressed nothing like a doctor.

Aqua couldn't always wear the outfit she came to Death City in, but the style of clothes she wore was usually reminiscent of it. Today she was wearing a dark sleeveless shirt with a high collar, and jeans.

When she finished with the last person she looked up with a polite smile, "Could I have the next person come up, please?"

It wasn't a doctor at all who greeted him. (And after he was so ready to see one...).

It was a girl.

A pretty girl who dyed her hair blue.

He felt a little sheepish in her presence. If he knew he'd be check out by a girl, he'd had done something to his hair. But that would only work if she didn't already think he looked a little weird. Or like a troublemaker. Or both. It was better to just roll with it, he figured.

"Whoa...Am I really at the right place to figure if I'm a Meister or not?" Because she didn't look like a doctor. But maybe doctors in this world didn't wear coats. Maybe they were all just ... nice receptionists with qualifications to be doctors? It was a new world, anything was possible.

...omg, Rin. Why so cute?

Aqua's sense of what is and isn't weird is a little different from most people's even before coming to Death City (it was par-and-parcel with travelling to different worlds). The longer she was here, however, the harder it was to be surprised by the way people look.

And, honestly, this boy wasn't the strangest arrival she's seen and Aqua preferred not to assume someone was a troublemaker unless they gave her reason to (like that one new arrival who had stolen her wallet).

What she did find a little strange was his question and she did give him a bit of an odd look for it.

"You are." Still not entirely certain where that question came from, she tilted her head a little in confusion, "Why do you ask?"

That look she gave him wasn't entirely reassuring. "Well, I figured if we were getting checked for something like being a weapon we'd have to be in combat." He paused for a moment, mostly because he just wasn't too used to having this much attention (from a girl).

It was good! ...But also a little on the unnerving side. His question couldn't have been that weird, right? "...You got all these x-rays out here so there's supposed to be some kind of physical, right?"
blue_wayfinder: (smile || pleased)

[personal profile] blue_wayfinder 2013-04-22 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, so that's why. The edges of her mouth quirks up int a smile. She wasn't in any way laughing at him though. "I see." Actually, if she really thought about it, she could see where he might have gotten that idea.

"It's not really a physical." She placed a hand on the machine beside her, "This x-ray machine probably a little different from what you're used to. It can get an image of not only what's inside your body but your soul as well. From that I can tell if you're a Weapon or a Meister."

His soul? Rin frowned, his brow furrowing just enough to make the soft edges of his face seem hard. Rin spent a lot of time with Father Fujimoto when the old man was alive, and whether he wanted it to or not, a lot of the sermons his father gave still lingered in his mind. He brushed most of them off as ramblings. What else could they have been? After being called a demon so often in his youth and after seeing such cruel acts, it was hard to believe in some divine good or extreme evil.

That all changed when everything that Fujimoto said became too true and far too real, when he became that monster his father would preach about. And if that was so, if it was true that demons were real, that there were monsters (that he was one too), then it must have meant that he didn't (couldn't) have a soul.

How could he? As far as he knew, demons didn't even have their own bodies until they possessed something in Assiah. He didn't have his sword so there went his heart. All that was left was him. What would she say then, when she realized that no soul showed up in the x-ray? And even if something did show up, was he sure he wanted to see it?

He tried to smile despite himself. He chuckled, doing his best to expel his earlier mood. "There's not really another way to find that out? I mean, what's a soul anyway, right?"

...wow. I am missing an 'is' in that sentence. /)__(\

[personal profile] blue_wayfinder 2013-04-23 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Aqua's smile dropped when he frowned. That was not an expression she ever wanted to see on anyone, least of all on a boy who looked like he could be around Ventus' age.

His smile did little to dispel her growing concern.

Still, it wasn't really her place to question him about it. Not when she barely even knew him.

"This is one of the easiest and most accurate way." She said simply, but not unkindly, "Or you can someone with Soul Perception look at it." Otherwise he'd have to...throw himself down some stairs and hope that he was a Weapon. She was hardly going to suggest that, of course.
pinnedbangs: (drooling fais)

nah it's all cool~

[personal profile] pinnedbangs 2013-04-23 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
He didn't like the sound of those options. Even if he did have a soul, the idea of someone looking at it did not sit well with him. But, what if he did have a soul in this world? Would he really pass up the opportunity to find out once and for all?

"I don't wanna walk around not knowing and someone else just finds out by looking..." Which was his own roundabout way of agreeing. But just to clarify he added, "Whatever, I may as well. Do I just stand in front of the x-ray or somethin'?"

Even though he had his misgivings, he was still very curious. And at least now he'd be able to learn instead of figuring it out later. ...But throwing himself down the stairs could be an interesting plan, if she suggested it.
blue_wayfinder: (smile || ughhh...no more keywords)

She would not suggest it, though she didn't doubt that someone would.

Aqua nodded, and gestured to a spot in front of the machine. "Just stand there for a moment." The machine had already warmed up in the time it took them to get to this point, so it was just a matter of waiting for him to get into position then hitting the right button.

He nodded in return, and followed her instructions. It wasn't going to be bad, he told himself. And he wasn't going to look away from whatever would appear.

Rin looked forward, waiting more and more impatiently for the inevitable.
blue_wayfinder: (neutral || thinking)

So...what does his soul look like?

[personal profile] blue_wayfinder 2013-04-25 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
There was a short 'beep' from the machine when she pressed the right button, followed by another one seconds after as the image appeared on the screen. She studied it for a moment.

"It looks like you're a Weapon."
