[OPEN] April 2013 Introduction Log

Characters: Volunteers, Newcomers and OPEN for mingling!
Location: All Around Death City
Rating: Varies
Time: May 19th, All Day
Description: Welcome to Death City.

BREW doesn't think about kidnappings, activists or the hot, dry weather that hangs over the desert city this week. After powering up, giving energy readings on the night of the 18th that alerted Shibusen to new arrivals, they turn now to volunteers to assist in giving the newcomers the information and supplies they need.

Perhaps you're one of the ones who woke up in the Kishin Chamber on the morning of the 19th. Perhaps you live in Casualty Communal and were woken up by equipment transporting strange x-ray machines to rest in front of the building, prepared to scan the fresh meat and determine which are Meisters and which are Weapons.

Regardless, it's looking a little more like old times... let's give them a warm welcome, shall we?

[ooc: Newcomers! Simply tag in to any or all of the sections here and volunteers will pop right up to greet you ASAP! The last section is completely OPEN for newcomers, volunteers, or Guests all ready in Death City who want to come up and say hello. Have fun!]
catffeine: why no i'm not scheming why would you say that (chin touch)

This... seemed to be a little more invasive than he'd hoped.

After finding his way towards the dormitory, Sanae had seated himself on a bench beneath a tree, smoking a cigarette as he watched his fellow newly-arrived guests get scanned. It wasn't that he'd never had his Soul observed -- far from. But he usually avoided hanging out on the Higher Plane where it more or less hung out for all his compatriots to see.

Sanae was a man of secrets and the idea of some stranger poking around inside him to look at his Soul was a little disconcerting. Especially considering that 'Soul' seemed to have a different definition than what he was used to. How would his now mortal Soul translate in a place like this?

He hadn't been able to get a good look at what the screens showed when they were scanning. He'd overheard mentions of this 'Stein' guy being able to take a more close, personal look, but at least this way he could hope the volunteers trained on the scanners weren't trained to take too close of a look. Not to mention he was terribly curious as to this whole 'Weapon/Meister' thing. Would he have been shoved into one of those? He couldn't help but think he was a little different to most of the newcomers.

Probably anyway. Impossible to tell.

Well, it seemed as though he'd gathered as much intel as he could without actually going through. Putting out his cigarette, he finally shuffled into one of the lines.

Another scan, another few questions (angry rants), and another guest on their way (or shuffling along), Naoto made a mark on a notepad. It wasn't required, but there was a need to feel like it was something that actually needed recording. BREW already handled that need by knowing the assignments before then and cataloging them for Shibusen. Of course, not that any of the new arrivals knew that.

Oh well, just mark as another arrival processed. The detective should at least make note of names, but it was more she was keeping a tally of Meisters and Weapons to see what was the majority BREW decided to deliver. So far, Weapons were taking the lead. There were a number of Meisters without so she supposed it was a way of compensating.

Glancing up, she nodded to the man was waiting now. "Follow me, sir."
catffeine: i am not taking in a word you say (relaxed)

He continued to eye the scanner as the queue shuffled through, feeling a pang of pity for the workers (volunteers?) having to help and organize the new arrival of guests. If Sanae had any less control over himself, he'd probably be freaking out too. Well, he was, he just pushing 'freak out' down on his priority list for now.

With an easy smile, he stepped forward when the young woman nodded to him. "Mind givin' me an idea on how these things work?" It wasn't a demand for before he let her do her job, he was just wondering exactly how this all worked.

The whole Weapon/Meister thing was still entirely bizarre to him.

It would be more organized had more people signed up. Naoto felt like she was scanning more arrivals than she normally did back when this welcoming committee had been normal. This was the first in a while and, following certain events, few people were ready to receive new arrivals.

Naoto nodded. "Think of it as a simple x-ray. Stand still for your scan and results in a few seconds. If you're curious to know of your Meister Ability or Weapon Form, they do not tell us that much. They only identify whether you are a Meister or Weapon."
catffeine: here's where i pull some obi-wan shit on you (elbow)

Well, that didn't seem too bad. He knew what an x-ray machine was, even if he had no need of the technology by the time it came around.

He gave Naoto another pleasant smile. "Well then, fire her up 'n let's find out." He stepped into the machine. "So it just pops up with a little 'M' or 'W' for ya?"

At least he was managing to keep some of his privacy, rather than having someone poke around and look at his actual Soul.

Naoto nodded and turned to the machine. "Yes. That would be the gist of it. The finer details of your soul will be your concern and your partner should you get one."

The machine was ready and she hit go. It hummed as it started and continued as it ran. In a few seconds, it dinged. The results were being processed.
catffeine: well ain't that a pretty meteor headin' straight for us (up look)

[personal profile] catffeine 2013-04-18 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
When the machine dinged, he took it for being done. Stepping out, he couldn't resist peering over her shoulder to take a look at the screen. The curiosity really was killing him. Ha.

"I take it this ain't your regular gig?" Might as well make small talk while he was at it.

"No. I volunteer here. My usual jobs include teaching at the shooting range and serving as an agent at the Detective Agency here."

The machine finally finished and the result appeared. "Ah..." It was clear enough for him to read: Weapon.
catffeine: how many cups a day? you think i keep count? (coffee)

"So it's pretty easy for 'guests' to find work here, then? Outside of this war or whatever, I mean." Yeah, he was assuming she was a guest. He had a knack for being able to tell things about people.

Not to mention her attire just didn't seem to have enough skulls for her to strike him as a native.

... Huh. Weapon. Well, that was going to lead to a fair bit of self-examining later.

Sanae took a step back to give her space again. "So how do I go about figurin' out what type of weapon, then?"
pishirogane: ([Chibi] Urr...)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2013-04-18 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, it is. I can direct you to the employment board once we're done here if you wish."

Skulls were more suited for her boyfriend really.

She sighed, crossing her arms. "I've been informed to tell you of all possible methods. One would be through training and learning how to mentally access the part of you that unconscious knows how to do this upon arrival. The second option would be to throw yourself off the Shibusen staircase or get someone to assist you with said throwing."
catffeine: it's adorable how you think you know what you're talking about (laugh)

[personal profile] catffeine 2013-04-18 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Wouldn't mind a point in the right direction for future reference."

He nodded a bit, listening to the methods... then laughed. "I'll keep that last one in mind if I get too impatient." Sanae extended a hand to her. "Thanks for your assistance, Miss...?"
pishirogane: (Perhaps you could explain)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2013-04-18 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Very well."

She raised an eyebrow as he burst out laughing and the second rose at the referral. "Miss? Ah..." She had been neglecting her usual voice she supposed. She would blame her impacted schedule. "... Naoto Shirogane."
catffeine: have fun stormin' the castle! (wave)

[personal profile] catffeine 2013-04-18 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Nice to meet you, Miss Naoto. Thanks again for the assist." With a wave, he set off.

Nope, didn't volunteer his name either.
pishirogane: (The final card)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2013-04-18 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
That was alright, she didn't ask. They would run into each other again one day.
