[OPEN] April 2013 Introduction Log
Characters: Volunteers, Newcomers and OPEN for mingling!
Location: All Around Death City
Rating: Varies
Time: May 19th, All Day
Description: Welcome to Death City.
BREW doesn't think about kidnappings, activists or the hot, dry weather that hangs over the desert city this week. After powering up, giving energy readings on the night of the 18th that alerted Shibusen to new arrivals, they turn now to volunteers to assist in giving the newcomers the information and supplies they need.
Perhaps you're one of the ones who woke up in the Kishin Chamber on the morning of the 19th. Perhaps you live in Casualty Communal and were woken up by equipment transporting strange x-ray machines to rest in front of the building, prepared to scan the fresh meat and determine which are Meisters and which are Weapons.
Regardless, it's looking a little more like old times... let's give them a warm welcome, shall we?
[ooc: Newcomers! Simply tag in to any or all of the sections here and volunteers will pop right up to greet you ASAP! The last section is completely OPEN for newcomers, volunteers, or Guests all ready in Death City who want to come up and say hello. Have fun!]

After finding his way towards the dormitory, Sanae had seated himself on a bench beneath a tree, smoking a cigarette as he watched his fellow newly-arrived guests get scanned. It wasn't that he'd never had his Soul observed -- far from. But he usually avoided hanging out on the Higher Plane where it more or less hung out for all his compatriots to see.
Sanae was a man of secrets and the idea of some stranger poking around inside him to look at his Soul was a little disconcerting. Especially considering that 'Soul' seemed to have a different definition than what he was used to. How would his now mortal Soul translate in a place like this?
He hadn't been able to get a good look at what the screens showed when they were scanning. He'd overheard mentions of this 'Stein' guy being able to take a more close, personal look, but at least this way he could hope the volunteers trained on the scanners weren't trained to take too close of a look. Not to mention he was terribly curious as to this whole 'Weapon/Meister' thing. Would he have been shoved into one of those? He couldn't help but think he was a little different to most of the newcomers.
Probably anyway. Impossible to tell.
Well, it seemed as though he'd gathered as much intel as he could without actually going through. Putting out his cigarette, he finally shuffled into one of the lines.

Oh well, just mark as another arrival processed. The detective should at least make note of names, but it was more she was keeping a tally of Meisters and Weapons to see what was the majority BREW decided to deliver. So far, Weapons were taking the lead. There were a number of Meisters without so she supposed it was a way of compensating.
Glancing up, she nodded to the man was waiting now. "Follow me, sir."

With an easy smile, he stepped forward when the young woman nodded to him. "Mind givin' me an idea on how these things work?" It wasn't a demand for before he let her do her job, he was just wondering exactly how this all worked.
The whole Weapon/Meister thing was still entirely bizarre to him.

Naoto nodded. "Think of it as a simple x-ray. Stand still for your scan and results in a few seconds. If you're curious to know of your Meister Ability or Weapon Form, they do not tell us that much. They only identify whether you are a Meister or Weapon."
no subject
He gave Naoto another pleasant smile. "Well then, fire her up 'n let's find out." He stepped into the machine. "So it just pops up with a little 'M' or 'W' for ya?"
At least he was managing to keep some of his privacy, rather than having someone poke around and look at his actual Soul.

The machine was ready and she hit go. It hummed as it started and continued as it ran. In a few seconds, it dinged. The results were being processed.
no subject
"I take it this ain't your regular gig?" Might as well make small talk while he was at it.
no subject
The machine finally finished and the result appeared. "Ah..." It was clear enough for him to read: Weapon.

Not to mention her attire just didn't seem to have enough skulls for her to strike him as a native.
... Huh. Weapon. Well, that was going to lead to a fair bit of self-examining later.
Sanae took a step back to give her space again. "So how do I go about figurin' out what type of weapon, then?"
no subject
Skulls were more suited for her boyfriend really.
She sighed, crossing her arms. "I've been informed to tell you of all possible methods. One would be through training and learning how to mentally access the part of you that unconscious knows how to do this upon arrival. The second option would be to throw yourself off the Shibusen staircase or get someone to assist you with said throwing."
no subject
He nodded a bit, listening to the methods... then laughed. "I'll keep that last one in mind if I get too impatient." Sanae extended a hand to her. "Thanks for your assistance, Miss...?"
no subject
She raised an eyebrow as he burst out laughing and the second rose at the referral. "Miss? Ah..." She had been neglecting her usual voice she supposed. She would blame her impacted schedule. "... Naoto Shirogane."
no subject
Nope, didn't volunteer his name either.
