[OPEN] April 2013 Introduction Log
Characters: Volunteers, Newcomers and OPEN for mingling!
Location: All Around Death City
Rating: Varies
Time: May 19th, All Day
Description: Welcome to Death City.
BREW doesn't think about kidnappings, activists or the hot, dry weather that hangs over the desert city this week. After powering up, giving energy readings on the night of the 18th that alerted Shibusen to new arrivals, they turn now to volunteers to assist in giving the newcomers the information and supplies they need.
Perhaps you're one of the ones who woke up in the Kishin Chamber on the morning of the 19th. Perhaps you live in Casualty Communal and were woken up by equipment transporting strange x-ray machines to rest in front of the building, prepared to scan the fresh meat and determine which are Meisters and which are Weapons.
Regardless, it's looking a little more like old times... let's give them a warm welcome, shall we?
[ooc: Newcomers! Simply tag in to any or all of the sections here and volunteers will pop right up to greet you ASAP! The last section is completely OPEN for newcomers, volunteers, or Guests all ready in Death City who want to come up and say hello. Have fun!]

She pointed to the staircase, "Those steps are a typical hazard, but the quickest way to transform. You shouldn't throw yourself down them unless you are a Weapon. Finally, no one leaves unless BREW decides to send you away and one or two people actually understand how BREW calculates that. If you want to, you could have your Soul Perceived at morning training by Stein-sensei... Those hours are 6 AM to 9 AM."

She picked one up from her machine and pointed it at him. If Karkat knew a supermarket, the device would look familiar. "Unfortunately, the current Shinigami doesn't. The one who would currently know would be a figure named Eibon."
no subject
"You're telling me your leader doesn't know shit about his own magical thing? What kind of shithead put him in charge? Why doesn't he just ask this Eibon guy then? Isn't sort of important that the leader knows what BREW can do?"
no subject
Just one click of a button and his soul was bring processed. "Eibon is apparently an enigmatic figure. Plenty of people would've already inquired him about BREW were he present or able to be located."
no subject
"Alright, great, so he's out of the running. Who's the other guy who knows his shit. You said there was two." Karkat is very carefully not paying attention to the processing.

The scanner dings, but first. "It's possible that perhaps a Witch would know some details... Speaking to them, however, is another matter." Glancing down, Naoto nodded. "It appears you are a Weapon."
no subject
A weapon, huh? He guesses that's more useful. "Uh, okay." He's still not sure what to make of this news. "Does that mean I have to throw myself down a flight of fucking stairs, because I think I'd rather avoid that."
no subject
Naoto shook her head. "That is the fastest way, but not the prescribed. It's a matter of mind. With some practice, it will become second-nature... without the need to put yourself in harm's way."
no subject
Thank god. He really did not want to have to deal with that. "A matter of mind? Like, am I supposed to picture myself as a weapon or something?"
no subject
No doubt, some Weapons did regret that decision later after they found out they could transform without falling. "Yes. You already know what form you take. All that matters is making your conscious aware and then shifting."
no subject
"You make it sound really fucking easy. I'm good at using a sickle. That doesn't mean I'm good at transforming into one. And it's no good if I can transform now anyway, because I need to find some asshole to swing me around. Who even knows if they'll know how to use a sickle properly." Huff. It's his weapon and he's good at using it.
no subject
"Transformation isn't supposed to come immediately. I've been here for over six months so it's become second hat. Again, it will take a few days or so to understand transforming fully. If you become impatient, the stairs are still there." She sighed. "And unfortunately, that's how it is here. You'll need a partner if you want to do any real damage to a Kishin egg or Witch."

Naoto doesn't have much else to say on the matter. Unless Karkat was interested in attending classes at Shibusen, training would cover the basics.

She nodded to him slightly, almost like a bow, but with a tip of her hat. He would find plenty of people willing to help in the mixture of those looking simply to bother or befuddle.
