[OPEN] April 2013 Introduction Log

Characters: Volunteers, Newcomers and OPEN for mingling!
Location: All Around Death City
Rating: Varies
Time: May 19th, All Day
Description: Welcome to Death City.

BREW doesn't think about kidnappings, activists or the hot, dry weather that hangs over the desert city this week. After powering up, giving energy readings on the night of the 18th that alerted Shibusen to new arrivals, they turn now to volunteers to assist in giving the newcomers the information and supplies they need.

Perhaps you're one of the ones who woke up in the Kishin Chamber on the morning of the 19th. Perhaps you live in Casualty Communal and were woken up by equipment transporting strange x-ray machines to rest in front of the building, prepared to scan the fresh meat and determine which are Meisters and which are Weapons.

Regardless, it's looking a little more like old times... let's give them a warm welcome, shall we?

[ooc: Newcomers! Simply tag in to any or all of the sections here and volunteers will pop right up to greet you ASAP! The last section is completely OPEN for newcomers, volunteers, or Guests all ready in Death City who want to come up and say hello. Have fun!]

She would learn that Stein did them for fun... and that he should not use endangered or threatened species.

"Yes. Kishin eggs are corrupted souls seeking to gain more power for various means. At one point, they were another typical individual, but various factors drove them to killing innocent individuals and eating their souls. As a result, they gain power, but become insane and insatiable, seeking to trap, kill, and consume more."

These explanations always took a while. "Witches here are females with magical powers mainly offensive in nature. Due to this, they are affected by the 'Sway of Magic', making them prone to destructive tendencies. They attack to kill or collect people as feed or to purposely corrupt them. Lately, it's been for experiments. Keep in mind, some are willing to talk and cooperate, but not many..."

Dissections could be anything! And unless the endangered or threatened species was already dead before he got there, of course he shouldn't use them, but if they were dead? Why let them go to waste? Or so Ghoulia would think, she'd pretty much made up her mind to ask Stein a number of questions pertaining to a number of topics.

"Insatiable appetites, huh." She murmured to herself as she took in the information. All in all, it made perfect sense why they weren't at all acceptable to let continue roaming around. With a blink, she listened to the explanation of the Witches and nodded slowly.

"So, different, but they lean towards behaviors that are generally perceived to be negative or undesirable." she'd gleaned that the Witches weren't the hunger-driven enemy that the Kishin eggs were, which made them that much more dangerous; and that much more fascinating.

Stein likes his subjects to still be alive. Of course, they won't be after he starts, but that's kind of the issue.

"Basically. There is still more that needs to be understood about Witches. Some of them aren't affected by this destructive nature or have better control." Naoto placed a hand on her chin. "Unfortunately, there are few people to ask. I haven't seen Cybele-san in a while either..." Though, when she had asked, even she seemed unsure.

Alive or dead subjects aside, dissections were fascinating enough on their own to warrant attention.

"So what this tells me is that the only way to learn would be to build the knowledge from the ground up, conclusively and not based on hearsay." Ghoulia replied thoughtfully, a definite twinkle of interest in her eyes. "Yet the only way to do so would be direct contact or involvement with the Witches themselves, which is inherently risky and unpredictable."

There was a thoughtful pause before she added, with no lack of enthusiasm in her tone: "What a challenge."

"You'll have to sate your curiosity about Witches after gaining some combat experience here. Be capable of defending yourself in case things go sour and whatnot."

It should be a death sentence to head out immediately to try talking to a Witch.

"Of course" she offered with a reassuring smile. "One musn't put the cart before the horse, as they say. From what I understand, I'll need a partner in order to do so. In my case, they would have to be a Meister, if I understand the system correctly?"

She hoped picking a partner would be as easy as things had been thus far during her arrival. That'd be an acceptable level of unpredictability; or at least one she could deal with.

"That is correct."

Finding a partner was going to actually be the difficult part. It seemed like there were plenty of people left unpartnered or unwilling to partner.

"Then it would seem the next part of the plan is already laid out before me. It would be wise to follow it." She mused, before nodding to Naoto "Thank you, for your help- oh." Manners, manners, how had she come this whole way without names? "I'm Ghoulia, by the way, apologies that my curiosities distracted me until now to say so."

...she'd run out of questions, honestly. All that was left was to backtrack a bit and correct her lack of politeness in actually meeting the one who was helping her. All things considered, she could always ask questions via the communicator later. She'd need some time to sit back and reflect on the knowledge she'd gained after this; that and she didn't want to hog too much of Naoto's time.
pishirogane: (Good day...)

"No, it's fine." Naoto wasn't the best at reassuring people, but she would do her best. "Naoto Shirogane. Pleasure to meet you, Ghoulia-san." She tipped her hat and waited to see if the new girl had anything more to ask or say.

"A pleasure to meet you as well." She nodded, before taking a slight step back. "Though I believe that's all, I can't think of any further questions at this specific point in time."

Unless Naoto had something more, that would be it for the moment, and Ghoulia would proceed onwards to the remaining welcoming tables and volunteers.

"Very well."

Naoto nodded again and was about to let Ghoulia be on her way with that, but then added, "Ah, I suggest you go to the SEES table. You may receive more help there." Not that she really intends that, but if her suspicions were correct, then Ghoulia should meet someone there.

SEES Table, huh? It seemed the only logical next step, and so that would have to be where she went. She hadn't looked around enough, but surely she'd be plenty surprised at the familiar face. She didn't know it yet, but she'd have to thank Naoto for the suggestion later.

"I will. Thank you, Naoto."
pishirogane: (Good day...)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2013-04-22 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
"You're welcome."

Now she would allowed Ghoulia to leave and return to her business of processing the new arrivals.
