[OPEN] April 2013 Introduction Log
Characters: Volunteers, Newcomers and OPEN for mingling!
Location: All Around Death City
Rating: Varies
Time: May 19th, All Day
Description: Welcome to Death City.
BREW doesn't think about kidnappings, activists or the hot, dry weather that hangs over the desert city this week. After powering up, giving energy readings on the night of the 18th that alerted Shibusen to new arrivals, they turn now to volunteers to assist in giving the newcomers the information and supplies they need.
Perhaps you're one of the ones who woke up in the Kishin Chamber on the morning of the 19th. Perhaps you live in Casualty Communal and were woken up by equipment transporting strange x-ray machines to rest in front of the building, prepared to scan the fresh meat and determine which are Meisters and which are Weapons.
Regardless, it's looking a little more like old times... let's give them a warm welcome, shall we?
[ooc: Newcomers! Simply tag in to any or all of the sections here and volunteers will pop right up to greet you ASAP! The last section is completely OPEN for newcomers, volunteers, or Guests all ready in Death City who want to come up and say hello. Have fun!]

"Next please..."
no subject
"Hello there." she gave a slight nod "So how does this work?"
no subject
Naoto pointed both out as she explained so Ghoulia could pick.
no subject
"Ready when you are."
no subject
The results took a few seconds and the detective nodded when they came in. "You're a Weapon."
no subject
"That's reassuring, actually." she remarked, pleased that she wouldn't be required to do any running around on her own. Running wasn't really her thing, honestly. "I assume I'll learn more while here in the city? Classes and training and such to properly learn and..."
As much as sudden things weren't her favorite, she'd had a sudden question that needed asking. "...what sort of weapon, specifically?"
no subject
"Yes. Morning training is held in the park every morning from 6 AM to 9 AM. There, you will learn how to transform into your Weapon form. Classes are in Shibusen starting at noon. Stein-sensei will teach you more about this world and cover souls more in-depth so long as he isn't performing a dissection." She left out the word 'again'.
Hand on her hip and weight shifted, Naoto shook her head. "I'm afraid the machine doesn't tell us that much. You'll have to discover your Weapon form during training."
no subject
As for the weapon situation, she was mildly disappointed to not have an answer to that immediately, but she supposed it would set a worthwhile training goal to find that information out. One thing at a time, at least she had one question answered. "Understandable, then. It couldn't hurt to ask, of course; and to be certain I have the big picture..." she paused, taking a thoughtful moment. "Weapons are wielded by Meisters, and pairs of Weapons and Meisters fight to win the war, yes?"
no subject
Naoto patiently waited for Ghoulia's questions as they came, satisfied that she seemed to understand quickly. "Yes, that is correct. Meisters and Weapons are capable of resonating their souls; syncing in other terms for some people. This resonation can unlock potentials within both Meister and Weapon, allowing them to defeat Kishin egg and Witches with enough work."
no subject
While the notion of resonating souls made only a modicum of sense, the added comment to clarify it as syncing made it make perfect sense to her. Honestly, just like computers. However, the explanation stirred up a few more questions. All in all, it was making sense, there were just the obvious things that she really had no idea about.
"Kishin eggs and Witches?" she paused, simply letting the question stand as it was. While she didn't know a thing about kishin eggs, Witches were something she couldn't help but ask about.
no subject
"Yes. Kishin eggs are corrupted souls seeking to gain more power for various means. At one point, they were another typical individual, but various factors drove them to killing innocent individuals and eating their souls. As a result, they gain power, but become insane and insatiable, seeking to trap, kill, and consume more."
These explanations always took a while. "Witches here are females with magical powers mainly offensive in nature. Due to this, they are affected by the 'Sway of Magic', making them prone to destructive tendencies. They attack to kill or collect people as feed or to purposely corrupt them. Lately, it's been for experiments. Keep in mind, some are willing to talk and cooperate, but not many..."
no subject
"Insatiable appetites, huh." She murmured to herself as she took in the information. All in all, it made perfect sense why they weren't at all acceptable to let continue roaming around. With a blink, she listened to the explanation of the Witches and nodded slowly.
"So, different, but they lean towards behaviors that are generally perceived to be negative or undesirable." she'd gleaned that the Witches weren't the hunger-driven enemy that the Kishin eggs were, which made them that much more dangerous; and that much more fascinating.
no subject
"Basically. There is still more that needs to be understood about Witches. Some of them aren't affected by this destructive nature or have better control." Naoto placed a hand on her chin. "Unfortunately, there are few people to ask. I haven't seen Cybele-san in a while either..." Though, when she had asked, even she seemed unsure.
no subject
"So what this tells me is that the only way to learn would be to build the knowledge from the ground up, conclusively and not based on hearsay." Ghoulia replied thoughtfully, a definite twinkle of interest in her eyes. "Yet the only way to do so would be direct contact or involvement with the Witches themselves, which is inherently risky and unpredictable."
There was a thoughtful pause before she added, with no lack of enthusiasm in her tone: "What a challenge."
no subject
It should be a death sentence to head out immediately to try talking to a Witch.
no subject
She hoped picking a partner would be as easy as things had been thus far during her arrival. That'd be an acceptable level of unpredictability; or at least one she could deal with.
no subject
Finding a partner was going to actually be the difficult part. It seemed like there were plenty of people left unpartnered or unwilling to partner.
no subject
...she'd run out of questions, honestly. All that was left was to backtrack a bit and correct her lack of politeness in actually meeting the one who was helping her. All things considered, she could always ask questions via the communicator later. She'd need some time to sit back and reflect on the knowledge she'd gained after this; that and she didn't want to hog too much of Naoto's time.

Unless Naoto had something more, that would be it for the moment, and Ghoulia would proceed onwards to the remaining welcoming tables and volunteers.
no subject
Naoto nodded again and was about to let Ghoulia be on her way with that, but then added, "Ah, I suggest you go to the SEES table. You may receive more help there." Not that she really intends that, but if her suspicions were correct, then Ghoulia should meet someone there.
no subject
"I will. Thank you, Naoto."
no subject
Now she would allowed Ghoulia to leave and return to her business of processing the new arrivals.
