Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on May 4th.

I hope so. Everyone in this town is turning dumb, lately. They seem to forget who saves their asses every time Witches attack this place.

Oh, I like to think I'm making a contribution, but I don't think I had saved anybody's ass. [She grinned.]

[Still, the whole thing had her thinking and pondering what she was doing here. Though she knew that the shopkeeper had no right to punch her like he did, she also wasn't sure that the sentiment wasn't unjustified. If the "guests" were brought here to do a job, were they, in fact, fulfilling their obligation? She wasn't so sure.]

[ Sayahas saved way too many people, but that's mostly because of her partner. To be perfectly honest, the girl is selfish in that aspect, and she doesn't particularly care about saving people. Which probably makes her a horrible person. ]

Well, you don't have a partner yet, do you?

No, that's true. I've been a bit neglectful in that respect. I was somewhat hoping that I may be able to meet one today, however.

[sayatakagi]

There are a lot of partner-less Meisters lately. Maybe you'll be able to find one that suits you.

Have you ever resonated before?

[consider8]

I think I might have. Once? I was only ever in the hands of another meister twice.

Like I said, I've been rather neglectful.

[sayatakagi]

Why have you been neglecting it, though?

[consider8]

Because I haven't found out how I am supposed to work in this world. That is, in a way I don't find morally reprehensible.

[sayatakagi]

You mean killing the kishin eggs and eat their souls upset you.

[consider8]

[Although she's not usually known to be especially kidding, her tone becomes pointedly serious.]

It's not the killing that bothers me, it's the second part. Death will occur whether we desire it or not. Yet the destruction of the soul is the absolute death of all that makes you who you are.

[sayatakagi]

[ it the same, for Saya. To die and to lose her soul translates as the same. ]

Even if they are the ones trying to destroy your soul?

The question isn't whether they need to be defeated. That is a certain yes. The problem on my mind is the extent to which they must be eradicated. I am worried that, since they have had time to get used to such extreme measures, that they have forgotten what it is they are actually doing to an individual that was once a living being.

[sayatakagi]

Aranea, I don’t know about trolls, so I can only speak for us humans. [ Saya puts down the bottle of water, looking up at the sky ]

People are afraid. And when they see how savage a world can be, and they become afraid to die. I know you accept death, but for us who didn’t come from a world like yours, death is the same as losing our soul. That’s why we want to stay alive no matter what. That’s why we can’t accept our enemies as “someone”.

When we look at them, we only see “them”. Not a soul, not someone. We look at them and we dismiss whatever makes them more than just an enemy to kill, else we would go insane, having to fight and kill things that are “individuals that were once living beings”.

We see how things have to change and we adapt to it. It may be cold and difficult, but it’s the only way of making pain bearable.

[And for a second, Aranea reached up for Saya's hands and touched them.]

Even for this world, that answer came way to quickly for you.

[ Saya blinks.

Ah-

the girl is silent for a moment before she shakes her head ]

We all come from different worlds and from different paths in life. Not all are good. You know that.

[consider8]

[Aranea smiles sadly.] I know.

[She wants to hug her and let her know that she's there but... something within told her that they still weren't that close of friends and it would be awkward. Instead she just gives Saya's hand another squeeze and gives her a warm look.]

[sayatakagi]

[ Saya squeezes the troll's hand back. just a little. Because it's alright ]

Aha- let's not talk about depressing things! it's only morning.

It is indeed. [But whether or not that means it's okay to stop? Aranea won't say. She just knows it's Saya's wish for it to stop, and that's all that matters right now.]

What would you like to talk about, then?

[sayatakagi]

Sendo's - my partner's - birthday is tomorrow. I have no idea what gift I'm supposed to get him.

Well, why don't you tell me a bit more about him and maybe I can be some help.

[sayatakagi]

`Let's see. Sendo loves fighting; he was a boxer in his world. He is fond of physical exercise [ a pause ] well, actually he is crazy about it.

He loves cats, too. We have a kitten and he named it Brawl, for example.

And he loves food. At least the food I cook.

And that doesn't give you any ideas?

[sayatakagi]

No, they do. But all the gifts sound so simple.

[ a sigh.

And then maybe she realizes that she said she wanted to make the gift special, and Saya blushes a up.
