Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on May 4th.

[Cloud is a little preoccupied but still training harder than ever, as if he's preparing for a big battle. He's using his katanas rather than his partner today. He pauses to take a break, but he seems pumped and ready for action at any moment.]

[Neji watches for a few minutes, interested despite himself of the Meister that would soon become known for his Deathscythe partner. He wonders how Cloud fares against Madness, and doesn't follow the movements of the katana too long]

Has Shibusen entrusted the next Witch to you?

[It may be a bit of an inane question, but while he does have an ulterior conversation in mind, he'll get to it]

[Cloud draws up mid-swing and looks over at the familiar voice. Ah, now he knows who he felt watching him. He rises to stand normally and rests his katana against his spaulder casually.]

Yes, we head out tomorrow to make an attempt against her. [He glances to the blue sky.] By tomorrow, we may finally have reached our goal... or we may die. I'm still researching how to kill one quickly.

[If even a seasoned pair such as Cloud and Sephiroth died facing a Witch, it was little wonder why Shibusen appeared to have so few Deathscythes. That made them even more important, ultimately..]

Have you spoken with Cybelle? She's supposed to be here to aid the guests in combating Witches..

[For once, he doesn't want to be cocky, as he's fought two witches before and had a little trouble. He hasn't been wounded by one in awhile, but he isn't taking any chances when it matters so much.]

Yes, I plan on looking for her after training to see if she has any tips. Hopefully she doesn't expect an arm to chew on in return.

[He regards Neji soberly.]

If all goes well, I will be offering myself and my partner to assist anyone going on missions. That way, they won't fail it and people gain strength.

[Neji quirks an eyebrow, but nods. He has no love for Witches, even one that claims to be working with them, so his familiarity with Cybele is limited]

That's.. generous of you. [And something he could have capitalized on with Lain, given their almost strictly defensive skill set. With Lee and his own expanding capabilities however, they'd be fine on their own..] I'm sure we'll see a substantial increase in success rates and soul counts when that happens.

Well, more what's best for the war at this point. Our limited numbers make it even more important that everyone succeeds. [Of course... he still has to convince his grumpy partner into it. That's a work in progress.]

Sephiroth and I aren't ones to sit around. I'd get bored without missions to complete, even if it is just walking around with some bickering rookies.

[Neji nods in understanding. If he wasn't occupied with the Watch, then he'd certainly be on the field much more than he was, currently]

I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunity for that.

[He doesn't envy them of it, but it's time for a mild shift in topic]

There's also the matter of this recent civilian rebellion affecting morale as well as endangering Guests. Should you succeed tomorrow and perhaps, if you don't find yourselves terribly injured, perhaps you'd consider announcing a short address to the city. Anyone else could attempt it, but given their upset about the apparent lack of guest incentive, they'd have most reason to listen to the Meister of the first guest Deathscythe..

[That's pretty smooth, Neji. Cloud didn't see that type of topic change coming, and he furrows his brow in contemplation to the very idea. Speeches aren't really his thing, but how hard can they be?]

A speech, huh? I'm not sure that I can come up with anything too moving, but I don't see how it can hurt. Sephiroth is actually better at public speaking than I am, ironically.

[Now that's a surprise, with what little he knows and has heard about Sephiroth and people]

Rogers-san and I are available to assist, if you'd like. [Yeah, he's kind of talked about this with other people before bringing it up] I'd likely be more aid as security, but Rogers-san has some experience speaking with the public..

[And while Cloud and Sephiroth may not need security, Neji was of the opinion that he was better-suited to non-lethal crowd control, methods less likely to result in undoing all the negotiation they hoped to achieve]

[Rogers? He's not certain that he's heard that name before, but if the guy knows public speaking, he might have to suggest the guy to Sephiroth. He's certain Sephiroth could come up with something as long as he edited out the whole 'parasites' and 'ungrateful' comments.]

Huh, seems like you've been planning for this to come about since I last spoke with you. Who is this 'Roger' guy?

[He wonders if Sephiroth's threatened that guy yet.] Do we really need security for a speech... wait... yeah, we probably should. [He could at least control Sephiroth...]

[Something like a rueful smile crosses his expression] A few days ago, it became apparent someone needed to speak on behalf of the guests.. I maintain that the two of you are most likely to be listened to.

[And the twinge of nervousness from broaching the topic fades, easing some of the tension in his stomach]

Steve Rogers. He's a new guest, though he was here for a time before. As for security, I'd recommend it, given the veiled aggression they've shown toward the guests lately. We don't need a show of too much force however, so Lee and I should be able to handle any unrest without inciting further animosity.

Are we the most likely to be listened to because we're the current strongest or because we're just the most awesome looking out of all the guests? [He may prefer you don't answer that question truthfully, by the way.]

Pfft, aggression is not something I have trouble dealing with. A good ol' brawl in the streets, smash some heads together and go to some seedy bar establishment afterwards. Works most of the time. [He still has to ask if Sephiroth has threatened this new 'Steve' yet.] I don't think I met Steve at all. He must hold some pull if you've been talking to him.

[Neji knows a rhetorical question when he hears one. Polite smile, the return to arrogance somehow relieving with how somber the other Meister had appeared only a few minutes prior.

But the mention of Steve's 'pull' leaves him blinking through a slant of suspicion, a little disconcerted and uncertain of how to answer] He's.. interesting, but I believe he'll be best-suited to assist, under these circumstances.

[Cloud isn't one to judge, but he notices the uneasiness. Maybe he shouldn't run his mouth off sometimes. It seems to get him into those awkward situations.]

Interesting, how so? If you find him interesting, I'm going to have to look him up.

[Cloud paused in his motions and stood tall (well, as tall as he could) at the sight of Auron.]

Hey old man, thanks... but it's my Weapon who has all the souls. I just help harvest them for him.

Well it's not like he could have done it without you. You're making the rest of us look real slow. *he chuckled*

I suppose not, though once he got to the point where he could take them all on by himself, he was too attached to let me sit down and watch him. [He snorts softly.] Well then, it's just motivation for everyone to play catch-up, isn't it?
