Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on May 4th.

[ And Matt puts his game in his other pocket ]

[ he's curious, to be honest. wants to see if he'll handle it better now than he did way back when he was a stupid wiggler. ]

... [ Matt is supposed to be a responsible adult.

[ he isn't going to give Sollux a cigarette and teach him how to smoke in front of everyone, at least. ]

This looks suspicious.

[ like they're going to commit a crime right there, right now ]

I would rather not get asshole stares for corrupting a troll, ok?

[ they don't go far away, anyway. Just far enough so people won't notice what they are doing.

Either way, Matt sits on the floor and grabs a smoke to light it up. He takes two drags first and exhales slowly and after he gives Sollux the cancer stick ]

Do you know how to do it?

You say that like we're pure as the driven snow from hatching.

[ when he says it, it sounds dry like old paper, and he reaches for the stick before the last syllable is past his lips. he's not so much eager for the experience than he is for the chance to prove himself to himself, somehow. he's old enough for this, he's not going to cough and sputter like last time. he can deal. ]

I've seen you do it enough times. Does that answer?

[ and he brings it to his mouth with a kind of devil-may-care nonchalance. ]

Aha, who knows.

[ Matt still doesn't want to deal with that. ]

Pull only a little smoke into your mouth and hold it for a second or two. When you remove the cigarette from your mouth, inhale the smoke into your lungs by taking a deep breath.

[ luckily for them both, he's too busy trying not to shred the filter with his teeth to fire off a snappy retort.

at least this time his cough is only one, and not as explosive as expected. a small relief. ]

[ Matt watches and maybe he smiles a little. Just a little.

He is terrible at being an adult, isn't he? ]

No cough fit? I'm proud.

[ matt takes the cigarette back to steal a drag from it, before he hands it back to Sollux ] Again?

Don't use your teeth, use your lips to hold the filter. Just the tip. [ humans have it easier ]
