[ OPEN ] August 2012 Introduction Log
Characters: OPEN to new arrivals and NPCS.
Where: En route to Casualty Communal
Rating: Gen
Time: March 12 onwards
Description: Welcome to Death City!
It had been a little over a week since the sandstorm, and thus a little over a week since the last batch of newcomers. When the readings indicated that BREW was activating again so quickly, it was a bit of a scramble to get everything prepared. The last time it activated before then was early February, so this really was a small time frame. It had been some time since that happened.
But everyone dutifully prepared just in time for the first arrivals. It was also a relatively good day despite the past few rain showers. At least things were much calmer now.
[ooc: Player characters will also be joining the log. Everything after the sub thread Soul Perception is open to all characters.
Quick navigation: Kishin Chamber | Around/Outside Shibusen | Around Death City | Casualty Communal | Soul Perception | Open Thread]

[OPEN] Set after everybody's been through Soul Perception.
[He hurts his hand and the tree shakes a bit, losing a few leaves as a result. Otherwise, both man and tree are unharmed.]
[He takes a deep breath, letting it out slowly. He feels better now.]

Death City itself is an intriguing sight. It was a city, but more quaint and bold and forward with its very own concentrated, vivid character than the shiny-polished metropoli of, say, the Citadel or Illium. It benefitted there from being smaller, less noise to drown out small touches and hints of interest, even if that meant less space for its population to move through and fewer places to expect to be able to step out of the streets and retreat to in privacy.
As for Nevada, in all of Thane's travels, he hadn't been to Earth before, even if this is a different Earth. And in fact - fate's small favors - this is the first time he's really been to the desert. Along and before the tour, he'd looked out at the enormous sheer open spaces and geometric rocks pooling on out of sight around the city. So much space, and so much air - he'd taken a few deep breaths on his first look out and felt surprisingly clean. Pure and relatively dry air.
He misses the tree-punching, mind you, so forgive the approach, but he does happen on Six, who he thinks he remembers catching a glimpse of in the room, which brings the odd storybook-cultishly-decorated toilet-centered scene back to mind, which would be enough to get an average person's curiosity to sneak in in front of peace of mind.]
...In the Soul Perception room.
Was that - standard procedure?

[He remembers seeing you in there, but he hadn't gotten the chance to talk to you.]

[Which here is short for "I see why." But the first day is probably a little early to go being critical.
While he's interacting with someone who he may be able to pick up a little more information from...]
If I may ask, are you a Weapon, or a Meister?
no subject
Meister. You?
no subject
[Mm. Never mind that, then.]
I will admit I'm looking forward to training. I have combat experience, but this supposed possibility of shapeshifting is new to me.

[Not the most rich response there, but, well, it is, especially since it isn't difficult to guess that it's still a special case wherever Six comes from.]

Hey. [Shades meet shades, and he's pretty sure he recognizes the guy from the golden toilet place with the weird posters, looking like the most normal thing he's seen yet. Which also makes him stand out a little bit, but no one ever said a suit paired with shades was a low-profile kind of combination]
Gonna go out on a limb here [The accompanying smile is quick and easy. Suits aren't well known for their sense of humor, but anyone can appreciate a bad pun] And say you're not with SHIELD.

Sorry. Wasn't aware this tree was occupied. [Was he really that distracted? Damn Excalibur.]
[He nods in response to the assumption.] Don't even know what it is, to be honest. I work for Providence.
[It doesn't take Soul Perception to tell this is a professional like him.]
no subject
Security homeland international something-or-other. [Not quite, but this is a foreign world and he's yet to decide what that means in relation to information relevance.
He drops down with more athletic grace than a person might think he's capable of and thinks about Providence. The first thing that comes to mind is the national drop bucket of Rhode Island and he's pretty sure they're not in the States if this is a different world- even if it does kind of look like New Mexico]
Is that an organization here?
no subject
[So, yes, you're both in the same boat.]
no subject
Hallucinations a package deal or something? I'm not a scientist or anything, but I'm pretty sure stars aren't supposed to look like that.

Something to look forward to, I guess. So you work for these Shibusen guys now?
no subject
[Well, sort of. More like the unwritten contract puts him under Kid's command to do with or ignore as he sees fit.]
