Morning Training happens every day in the city, and most days get handwaved. This training log happens January 30th.

FAQ: For any character confusion or questions. Answered enthusiastically by Maito Gai.
Breakfast: Provided by the combined efforts of Cinderella, Katakura Kojuro, Saya Tagaki.
Batch 1: Beginners under the age of fifteen. Taught by Prussia, Fakir, Auron, Steve Rogers.
Batch 2: Adult beginners. Under Saber, Kaoru Kamiya, Lightning Farron, Maito Gai, Tifa Lockhart.
Batch 3: Intermediate fighters, for sparring with each other. Overseen by Hyuuga Neji and Ling Yao. Please see list of random sparrers.
Batch 4: Experienced fighters, for sparring with each other. Overseen by Selendis. Please see list of random sparrers.

Watch: An area closed off to the Watch members who need any sort of special training.

[Neji glances back to his division briefly, just to make sure no one- Ling in particular- was causing trouble, then nods]

I'm not the only instructor assigned to them, so I have some leeway. [Not much, considering his lack of faith in Ling's teaching capability, but Tenten's priority rates considerably higher than those particular concerns]

What are you concerned about?

Don't worry. I can keep an eye on them from here. I can probably toss something towards them if one of them gets too unruly. [ She sighs at the possibility that she might have to do this. ]

Well, you remember about how I said I was going on a mission right? [ She's hesitant to admit she's failed, so she'll draw it out as long as possible. ]

[Neji smiles faintly, suspecting that she might actually follow through in that scenario. She tended to be awfully fond of her sharp, pointy objects, after all.

But the mention of her mission draws his focus back to the matter at hand] Of course. ..Did something happen?

[Either between her and Santana, or the mission itself, he didn't know. As far as he knew, neither of them returned critically injured, and Tenten seemed well enough, current mood aside]

they're the only type of tenten icons that exist, it seems! ;w;

[ Tenten will use her pointy objects for absolutely everything. Katanas became knives that'd cut bread, with combat daggers becoming butter knives. If there's something Tenten can use her weapons for, she'll definitely use them.

She sighs. Her voice is somewhat lower, and it takes a bit more time for this to actually be stated. She pauses, hesitates and sighs in frustration. ] We failed.

[He elects not to say anything for a few moments, brows creasing as he first attempts to grasp the gravity of the statement that Tenten seems to imply. Failing missions- while disappointing- happened with some regularity, and sometimes with disastrous results.

But neither Tenten nor Santana are critically injured, and so the worst-case scenario didn't apply. Could it be that their mission held some critical objective for Shibusen..?]

Tenten... What happened?

[ Tenten lowers her head in a shame she hadn't felt since her realizations about the way she treated both Guy-sensei and Lee. Her voice is quiet, as if she doesn't want anyone to hear what happened. She glumly gives him the Worst News Ever. ]

We failed. Pretty hard. [ Her voice doesn't have any of the passion it once had. ]

All of Team Gai does!

[The confession is ultimately unhelpful, drawing attention to the severity Tenten's taking the results, though without any details he can try to alleviate. He's left guessing.]

..Was she hurt?

Physically, no. [ Tenten would much rather risk herself than Santana. She'd feel absolutely mortified if anything happened to her. ] I think it was my fault too. [ And that she's the reason why Santana isn't talking to her. ]

[Trauma? Neji shifts, trying to piece things together from what little Tenten's told him so far.]

Tenten, I don't know what happened to either of you, but there's only so much emotional strain a person can take upon themselves before they drive themselves insane. You know this, and you were trained to deal with it. It's your job to be stronger for those that weren't. If you're falling apart, who will she have?

[ Huh? Tenten's confusion starts to become apparent. ]

No, no, Santana isn't too traumatized. It's just that, well, we couldn't resonate. And I think it's my fault. I tried to resonate and she said she was fine. But she was a bit distracted. It's just frustrated because I think she's avoiding me because of my failure. [ She sighs. ] I'm not going to be falling apart any time soon. If I do, it's certainly not going to be anything more uncontrolled than how I reacted to Lee leaving. [ Which, as far as she knows, she acted pretty damn well as that whole thing went on. ]

I believe Gai-sensei was the most distressed about his disappearance between all of us. [Given that Neji had gone over and tried to be of some assistance despite losing his own best friend]

Just be careful, Tenten. You have a partner now, so knowing how to manage your stress so that it doesn't take hold of you or bleed into your resonance is key.

[With only vague hints and a reluctance to press for details, he could only assume that Tenten's distress had come from a drastic failure in their mission objective, potentially where other people's lives were at stake. But regardless, it's advice he's sure Tenten will find applicable at some point in the future, even if she doesn't need it now. It's almost a relief to hear it's something that can be corrected through effort]

Do you have any idea why it is the two of you failed to resonate?

Well, obviously. Those two are closer than words can even express. [ A day after his birthday too. That was a bad day. ]

I know, I know. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I haven't seen Santana since we got back. Every time I've been in the apartment, she's not there. [ She sighs. Lives were at risk, but, luckily, with Santana's spanish, she convinced them to keep the children close to home and to not let them out. They were able to relieve the situation but not go after the immediate cause. ]

Not at all. Santana said she was fine, and I know I was determined. I think it's me though. I just haven't realized it yet. [ In reality, it was Santana freezing up and Tenten not being able to see things through a somewhat average civillian's life who wasn't trained for a life of war and conflict. ]

You said she was distracted... [Although simple distraction alone wasn't likely to severely cripple resonance. He doesn't know Santana well enough to even guess at what the distraction may have been]

At any rate, avoiding one another won't solve whatever issue stretches between you. I could find her for you, if you'd like.

Yeah, but she seemed fine outside that. It wasn't anything major I think, because she said she was fine. And she was observant enough not to be hit by the Kishin. [ But the Kishin was huge anyways. ]

That'd be nice if you can. I'll try to visit her after weaponry training. [ She can't leave this place unattended after all. Shibusen has faith that these weapons will stay put. ]
