Morning Training happens every day in the city, and most days get handwaved. This training log happens January 30th.

FAQ: For any character confusion or questions. Answered enthusiastically by Maito Gai.
Breakfast: Provided by the combined efforts of Cinderella, Katakura Kojuro, Saya Tagaki.
Batch 1: Beginners under the age of fifteen. Taught by Prussia, Fakir, Auron, Steve Rogers.
Batch 2: Adult beginners. Under Saber, Kaoru Kamiya, Lightning Farron, Maito Gai, Tifa Lockhart.
Batch 3: Intermediate fighters, for sparring with each other. Overseen by Hyuuga Neji and Ling Yao. Please see list of random sparrers.
Batch 4: Experienced fighters, for sparring with each other. Overseen by Selendis. Please see list of random sparrers.
Weapon transformation: How to Change into Your Weapon Form. Yuuri, Ishida Mitsunari, Spirit.
Soul Perception: If you still don’t know by now-- Any of the Soul Perception people. Luna Lovegood, Azusa.
Partner training: How to Work Together as Partners. Tassadar and Nataku. Maka and Soul. Shizuo and Motochika. Eve.
Weapons handling training: Genesis, Tenten.
Shooting range: How to shoot things 101. Grit, Vash the Stampede, Leon. Fuu Hououji (for Archery).
Meister Ability helpers: Edgeworth, Death the Kid, Ryuuji.
Medics (and First Aid Training, lead by Naomi Kimishima): All the medical people.
Audience: Because some people just want to watch.
Watch: An area closed off to the Watch members who need any sort of special training.

[Emil sticks to Ratatosk Mode when he's around the sparring area; it's just simpler that way. Maybe it doesn't matter as much now since his other self mentioned their situation publicly on the DEMISE network, but he's not turning down the chance to be in control for a little while either. So here he is, holding a practice sword and ready to go. Now, he just needs to find someone...]

Oh, woooooow. You're the youngest one I've had all month. Hi kiddo. What're you doing here?

[Ling picks up on that, but he keeps his oblivious expression on.]

Holding a practice sword. You here to fight? What kind of sword style are you used to?

I'm self-taught. Never had a teacher.

[Mostly. One or two lessons from Richter don't really count; most of the time he's had to figure things out himself and Emil takes some pride in what he's managed on his own.]

You're self-taught? No offense, but usually that would mean I send you directly to the beginners over there.

[He jerks a thumb at the beginners' area behind them.]

[Welp. Either this is going to be a disaster or a miracle, but Ling's sure there are a few people in Death City who can surprise him. The prince picks up a practice dao sword of his own. He assumes his stance, guarding hand out in front of him, two fingers pointed to drive attacking thrusts away and curved flat sword held high over his head for slashing.]

Very well. Why don't you show me what you've got. But first, tell me your name. I'm Ling Yao, of the August Empire of Xing. And you are?

[Ling's stance is perfect, the form of a person who has trained all his life in the arts and forms of Xingese fighting techniques. There's no openings visible here. He lifts his front leg to complete his defense, ready to leap.]

[ooc: plurk me @ redplumflower or aim me @ oretachiwarumba if you want to work out how this happens. I need to know what kind of outcome to go for here and his weaknesses.]

[Emil knows good form when he sees it, but that recognition grates hard with his pride.]

[He assumes a stance of his own, not quite so solid as Ling's but still firm and defensive. He hasn't gotten through his entire journey by being weak like his other self, after all.]

All right, how about this. If you can knock me down or take my sword, you stay. If not, you're over to the beginners.

What the hell? No way!

Do you have a better idea?

Easy. I stay.

I can't let you stay here if you're going to get hurt, little fella.

I'm not! I've done just fine on my own, or else I wouldn't have survived to be here right now.

[...And maybe Marta would be in an even worse place, but he's not going to think about that here.]

[Ling shrugs lightly, clearly intent on being easygoing about this.]

All right Emil, have it your way. Let's see what you've got. Begin.

[And with that, Ling shifts his dao sword aside to the left, leaving Emil a good spot to attack.]

[Following a quick break, Kratos is on his way back to where he'd been training when Emil catches his eye. Hmmm he had mentioned his Ratatosk mode comes out during a fight. What better opportunity to see this summon spirit pact in action than during training. Witnessing it firsthand might provide some answers about it, as well.

That in mind, he's heading over.]

[Emil turns around and gives Kratos a nod once he sees who's talking to him, recognizing somebody he's talked to before.]

Kratos. It figures that you'd be here, too.

[flamberge]

[The greeting definitely is different than one would expect from Emil. Not especially a noteworthy thing, simply a bit unexpected.]

Training isn't something which should be neglected.

Of course not.

[That's why he's here, after all.]

So how good are you?

[flamberge]

Proficiently skilled with a sword.

[Modesty in regards to his abilities isn't his strong suit.]

Yourself?

[A smirk.]

The same.

[A soft hmm.]

Is that so? Then would mind you were I to witness your strength for myself?

Of course.

[Emil unsheathes his sword and assumes a stance.]

You ready?

[flamberge]

[Kratos does the same, drawing his own sword and getting into a proper stance. His reply comes in the form of a nod. Ready.]

[knightofcourage]

[Emil grins and charges in, starting off with a quick slash aimed at Kratos's side. Nothing avoidable if Kratos has any decent amount of skill - this is just to warm up.]

[The amount of skill Kratos has should be obvious enough when he manages to side-step the attack without much difficulty.]
