Morning Training happens every day in the city, and most days get handwaved. This training log happens January 30th.

FAQ: For any character confusion or questions. Answered enthusiastically by Maito Gai.
Breakfast: Provided by the combined efforts of Cinderella, Katakura Kojuro, Saya Tagaki.
Batch 1: Beginners under the age of fifteen. Taught by Prussia, Fakir, Auron, Steve Rogers.
Batch 2: Adult beginners. Under Saber, Kaoru Kamiya, Lightning Farron, Maito Gai, Tifa Lockhart.
Batch 3: Intermediate fighters, for sparring with each other. Overseen by Hyuuga Neji and Ling Yao. Please see list of random sparrers.
Batch 4: Experienced fighters, for sparring with each other. Overseen by Selendis. Please see list of random sparrers.
Weapon transformation: How to Change into Your Weapon Form. Yuuri, Ishida Mitsunari, Spirit.
Soul Perception: If you still don’t know by now-- Any of the Soul Perception people. Luna Lovegood, Azusa.
Partner training: How to Work Together as Partners. Tassadar and Nataku. Maka and Soul. Shizuo and Motochika. Eve.
Weapons handling training: Genesis, Tenten.
Shooting range: How to shoot things 101. Grit, Vash the Stampede, Leon. Fuu Hououji (for Archery).
Meister Ability helpers: Edgeworth, Death the Kid, Ryuuji.
Medics (and First Aid Training, lead by Naomi Kimishima): All the medical people.
Audience: Because some people just want to watch.
Watch: An area closed off to the Watch members who need any sort of special training.

That's right. My Father..was a great man. [something borderline worshipful enters Kaoru's voice as she looks out over the field]

For many years he worked for a style that didn't promote killing--despite what everyone said, he created it. While everyone was using Satsujin-ken, 'Swords that give Death' my father created 'Katsujin-ken' 'Swords that Give Life'.

Unfortunately..he left this world in the Seinan War before I could fully master Kamiya Kasshin Ryu. [her smile drops a little but she laughs it off, smiling]

So I'm going to master it by myself while teaching my apprentices, you know?

I see...that sounds tough. But I think--no, I know you can do it.

[she just smiles warmly at him]
A year ago..I had no one who believed in me, but now I have so many people who I can count on. I'm really lucky.

[He smiles back, a little sadly.] ...It's difficult when you're on your own. It's nice to have someone that believes in you and your dreams. Maybe even necessary.

..You have some people like that here though. So no need to be sad.

Yeah...you're right. And I have Mary back home, too. [He just wishes Aion was one of those people. ...Then again, he stopped believing in Aion's dreams too, didn't he? He sighs and falls back on the grass.]

You know, if I had the patience for sword fighting I would probably want to learn your style. But I guess I don't need to if I'm a Weapon, huh?

[shihandai]

I'm sure she'll be glad to see you when you get back. [Kaoru proceeds to flop down next to him, her hair around her body, glancing up at the sky. ]

Why can't you? Just because you can become a sword yourself doesn't mean your body couldn't use the training of wielding one.

[Somehow just mentioning Mary has put him in a bit of a better mood.]

Well...I guess that's true. I've just never been good with swords. [chuckle] I used to drive my instructors crazy. But...I think, if I had to use a sword, I'd like one that "gave life" instead of death.

[shihandai]

..I think you would too. Because you're gentle, Chrono. I think that's why when I first saw you I wasn't afraid or intimidated. Because I can see you're a kind person. [Then again Kaoru always tends to see people at a glance for who they are right off the bat. Her expression is mature for being so young. ]

Destroying things--being violent--I think you're too gentle for that. Please instead try to find a way to protect people so you don't break that heart of yours, okay?

[For a long time he just stares up at her and blushes, looking a little stunned.]

...Mary said something to me like that to me once.

[shihandai]

She did?

[rebelwithaclock]

Yeah. [He sits up, draping an arm on his knee.] She "saw" that I didn't want to hurt anybody, and...because of that I'm swaying between my role and myself. [Then he pauses, turning his head away and smiling softly to himself.] It was like she saw right through me. I'd...never had anyone acknowledge that side of me before. Not without treating it like a flaw that needed to be taken care of.

[shihandai]

[Role and self. For a minute she felt like she was staring at Kenshin from the earlier days. Struggling between his past as a hitokiri--a killer, and the person he wanted to be. She didn't understand why it was hard for most people to just take people as they were..so instead she offered a smile. ]

Everyone has flaws. So really nobody has any right to judge someone else. I'm sure Mary also wanted you to take her where she was. I don't know why people don't just look at people that way. They get caught up in all the extra stuff.

[He shrugs.] I'm a soldier, little more than a sword. I'm not supposed to waver or hesitate. ...It's dangerous otherwise.

[Of course, he realizes he's just repeating the things he's been told over and over since he was a child. He sighs a little.] Still. Even if I can't help my role...even if I'm a "sword"...[He'd rather be one that "gives life" rather than just be a mindless weapon that can only destroy.

Hm. When he thinks of it like that, it seems obvious what he wants to do.]

Hey. Um...I know you have a lot of beginners to teach, and I'm not really one of them. So I don't want to take up too much of your time, but maybe if you could spare the time for an extra student...Could you teach me your father's style?

You're more than a sword, Chrono! [Kaoru immediately grips his arm rolling on her side to look at him seriously.]
You are a person. You're not some object and whoever told you that you were is definitely, definitely wrong. [her blue eyes are narrowed at him intently.]

[And then her eyes widen at what he's asking of her and she lets go of his arm, staring at him with a bit of shock.

Just one second is all it takes for Kaoru to immediately say yes with a bright smile. ]

Idiot. You should have known by now that I was more than ready to take you as one of my students! It's going to be a lot of work! Think you can do it?

[It surprises him that she's so serious about him not calling himself a sword. That's what he's always been. His teachers called him that, the Elders called him that, Aion even calls him that sometimes...

But he has to admit that deep down, he really doesn't like being called that. ...Kaoru's reaction really does remind him of Mary. She's always pushing him to question his role and think about the things he's been told, like Mary did.

He blushes a little and smiles when she asks him if he's prepared to work.]

I can do it. Particularly since I'll have a good teacher.

[shihandai]

That's right. So no more doubting yourself, that's the first step.

[Easier said than done. ...No, she's his teacher now, he needs to trust her. He takes a deep breath.]
