... You've been stalking me?

[That... that's just not helping your case Ling.]
forhispeople: (oh dear did I do that?)

Re: OPEN

S-stalking?! [Ling laughs, waving his hands back and forth rapidly.]

Nononono, I was at the target practice area. I was working on my projectile throws and you happened to be over there too. I thought your aim was pretty impressive! Where I come from anyone with that kind of skill is in high demand.
pishirogane: (Cool stare)

Re: OPEN

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-03-03 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
... I see. [It makes sense...]

My aim was off today. It's been a while since I've last practiced.
forhispeople: (cool as a cucumber)

Oh? I thought it seemed you were doing quite well compared to the others I see around here. Yes, it wasn't perfect-- you did seem to have trouble keeping your arm stable, there-- but it's clear to me that you've had formalized training. Were you in the military, perhaps?

Re: OPEN

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-03-03 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I do not serve in the military. I'm a detective.
forhispeople: (wait what?)

Heeeeh! That's really impressive! How neat.
forhispeople: (wait what?)

Re: OPEN

[personal profile] forhispeople 2012-03-05 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Well.... I think so? I've never met a detective before. I've only seen Western books about them.
pishirogane: (Cool stare)

I see. Yes, there are differences between detectives in fiction and those in real life.

[*coughCloviscough*]
forhispeople: (thinking about you and can't stop)

Re: OPEN

There are? Like what? The hat?
pishirogane: (Hat's off to you)

Re: OPEN

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-03-06 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
The hat is an heirloom in my family and that's not it. Detectives in novels can wear hats, but the crimes are often exaggerated, the detectives are commonly portrayed incorrectly such as the extent of their involvement, and have poor conclusions. Detective work isn't always exhilarating and usually, the police can handle it without our assistance.
forhispeople: (listening and thinking about it)

Re: OPEN

[personal profile] forhispeople 2012-03-06 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
If the police can handle it without your assistance... why have detectives?
pishirogane: (Perhaps you could explain)

Re: OPEN

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-03-06 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
The police handle the arrest and do not bother with the investigation. If a crime is straight forward, they can handle it which most usually are. If it's more complex, then we're called in. Otherwise, they might as well grab the first suspect and hope with their meager amount of evidence that it was the correct call.
forhispeople: (listening but i hope it's about food)

Re: OPEN

[personal profile] forhispeople 2012-03-06 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
That.... sounds odd, to me. Who's to say if a crime is "straight forward"? I mean, couldn't they be easily fooled into thinking it's simple and just never call in a detective?
pishirogane: (Cool stare)

Re: OPEN

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-03-06 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Let's say a robbery is witnessed somehow; that's open and closed especially if their face is somehow exposed and recorded. You'd be surprised how many robberies are actually blundered even the offenders attempting a repeat.
forhispeople: (shh i'm thinking in xingese)

Re: OPEN

[Ling slowly tilts his head to the side at a word he doesn't understand.]

Re... corded?
pishirogane: (Cool stare)

Re: OPEN

[She raises an eyebrow, but then nods]

Yes. By photographic or video evidence.
forhispeople: (let me show you my moves)

Re: OPEN

[personal profile] forhispeople 2012-03-07 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
Video evidence, you mean such as what we do with our communication devices, don't you.

We never had such things at home, you see. The "moving picture" was very new.

Re: OPEN

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-03-07 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that's correct.

Ah, I see...
forhispeople: (you don't think I can be sweet?)

Re: OPEN

[personal profile] forhispeople 2012-03-07 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ling rubs his cheek, a little bashful. He flashes a crooked little smile to cover his awkward feelings and drops his voice to a volume that's a bit quieter, to try and match to Naoto's apparent temperament.]

I can't help but be really curious about all of you people. Everything here is so exotic and weird. I don't even know what to do most of the time.
pishirogane: Art by: Sya (You wanted to see me?)

Re: OPEN

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-03-07 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that right? I suppose I can understand from your position how it would be exciting. Try to take your time or else the uniqueness of it all fades faster.
forhispeople: (smile gentle)

Re: OPEN

[personal profile] forhispeople 2012-03-07 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Ehe. Yeah... I'll try my best.

So... I'm Ling Yao, of the August Empire of Xing. What's your name?
pishirogane: (Side Glance)

Re: OPEN

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-03-07 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[A nod]

I am Naoto Shirogane. Pleased to make your acquaintance, Yao-san.
forhispeople: (cool as a cucumber)

Re: OPEN

[personal profile] forhispeople 2012-03-07 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
A-ah please, Mr. Naoto, don't call me that. Call me Ling and add your "san" sound if you must.

In my case I'd prefer to be known as an individual than as a member of my clan. I have responsibilities to my whole nation, not simply them. And if other Xingese come here, I must be an example to them. It starts with that.

Certainly, Ling-san.

[She has no problem with this.]
