Will the real Morning Training please stand up?

Morning Training happens every day in the city, and most days get handwaved. This training log happens January 30th.

[Hmmm. There doesn't seem to be any cute girls in particular to help out with weapon transformation. So he just picks the person he thinks looks the most interesting aaaaaaand....that guy. Right there. Why not?

He walks over with casual grace and bows when he reaches the other man.]

Hello. I'm Sasame, a new Weapon. [He straightens.] This is where we learn about transforming, right?

I care little for your name. You are here for one purpose alone and that is to fight in this war. [He's blunt and direct at the newcomer, giving a stark nod of his head.]

Understanding your Weapon form will be the key to your survival.

[Ah. So he's the practical sort. His smile fades a little, but Sasame makes the best of it.]

Sorry. You're right. How should I start?

["Practical" is a nice way of phrasing the way Mitsunari tends to handle matters.]

One's weapon form is often something familiar to them - from the land you hail from, do you use a weapon of sorts? Possess some affinity for a blade or spear?

[He nods.] Yes, I do. Back home I use a bow. [More or less, anyway.] I have a feeling that might be my weapon form, although I'm not sure.

A bow... [He gives an almost knowing nod, unfolding his arms from where they's crossed over his chest and allowing them to fall to his sides.] A useful tool... My own form is a blade so I do not know if our style of transformation differs in any significant way.

[He straightens out entirely, giving a light hnph.]

Envision yourself as the bow - not merely using your weapon, but what it means to truly be that weapon. Visualize your body turning, beginning with your arms, fingers closing together and forming the bow knocks and limbs...

[He doesn't expect this man to fully catch on immediately, the meditation involved when attempting to transform without some kind of trigger can be quite difficult to achieve.]

[He nods.] All right. That sounds simple enough.

[He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, focusing on the "sound arrow" ability he grants to the Prétear when he combines her power with hers. He allows himself to hear the sounds of the training going on around him--the sounds feel "distant", and that still irritates him, but it reminds him that even if he can't feel the energy and hear the whispered words hidden in the hearts of those around him, sound leafé is still here in this world and surrounds him.

Thinking of it that way, he can remember what it felt when he was connected to that energy. He remembers all the Prétear he's helped in the past to hear those sounds, too. Takako...Himeno...

He knows he doesn't exactly become the bow when the Sound Prétear uses Sound Arrow, but for the sake of his mediation he'll pretend it. He knows that the energy of the sound leafé within him flows through the Pretear to grant her the ability to use the bow. He imagines the leafé--his leafé--flowing together to form the curves of the bow. He then imagines the Pretear gripping the bowstring with delicate fingers and pulling its--his--string back, preparing to fire. Her fingers are trembling with hesitation, maybe fear, so much that the string vibrates and hums...

Takako. Those fingers are Takako's fingers. For a moment his expression changes--his eyebrows draw together and his mouth draws into a frown. No matter what he did, she was always so afraid when they préted together...no, no, he's letting himself get off track. He exhales, then takes another deep breath.

He won't focus on the fingers holding the bow. Instead, he'll focus on the feeling in the bow when it fires as the fingers release it. The string snaps back into place as it's released with a satisfying twang, the sound reverberating through the air and pushing the sound leafé surrounding it to burst out like an arrow...

Right. That's what it means to be a Weapon in this world, doesn't it? As the Knight of Sound, he's a tool to be used by the Prétear. As a Weapon, he'll be a tool for his Meister in the same way. When he thinks of it like that, it's simple. He knows exactly what he has to do. He transforms into a bow with a flash of golden light and drops against the ground.]

Ah, there!

[A most impressive display. Mitsunari couldn't help but impressed by it. For some, transformation was easier than others but it did not make it any less impressive. Mitsunari steps forward and lifts the bow, holding it upright with a nod.]

Good... You've done well, Sasame.

[He chuckles. His teacher's praise is pleasing, although he feels it's slightly undeserved.]

Thank you. I think I have an unfair advantage--I've always felt that this bow was "me" in some way.

An impressive feat regardless, to transform so seamlessly. [Mitsunari gives a bow of his head - he has always been the type to give praise and respect where it was due. Though Sasame may not feel as though he deserves it, he has more than earned it in Mitsunari's eyes.]

You shall serve a Meister well.

Thank you. I hope I will. That's my goal. [He decides now is as good of a time as ever to transform back, so he pauses to refocus himself. After a moment there's another flash and he's back in his human form, smiling and holding Mitsunari's hand.]

Thank you very much for teaching me.

[As the man turns back into flesh and bone, Mitsunari's grip relaxes and he pulls his hand away.]

There is little gratitude that I deserve. The process comes from within, I merely guided your hand in the proper direction, it was you yourself who harnessed that skill and focused your mind.

You have been an attentive student.

[He chuckles, dropping his hand to his side.] I feel like I want to thank you again, but then we might keep doing this for forever.

[Yes, ending this cycle before Mitsunari grew frustrated and began to threaten the other man was likely the best course of action.]

Then it would be best for you to be on your way. You may have achieved your first full transformation but there is still a long road ahead of you. Training your mind and body is where it begins but locating a Meister is far from the end of your journey.

[He nods.] Even once I find a partner, we'll still have to learn how to work together, right?

And should you or your Meister fall behind in your training, it is the partnership that suffers. It is a grave responsibility to shoulder, to depend on someone in such a way.

[He may be glorifying it just a touch but his point remains.]

Mm. [Sasame's had a good amount of experience with that sort of partnership because of his role as a Leafè Knight, so he feels pretty confident that he can manage it. Probably a little too confident--it's not like everything in Death City works exactly the same as it does in his world.]

I think I'll be able to handle it. I've had to depend on someone in a similar way before. I won't let my Meister down.

You learn quickly. [Mitsunari's lip may just curl into a thin smile. He likes it when people get it.]

Possessing that attitude, you are certain to serve your Meister well.

Good. As long as I can do that, I'll be happy. ...Is there anything else I'll need to know?

You have the knowledge to adapt now, you should not require anything more. Continue to train and practice, growing strong and honing your skill.

All right. I'll continue to focus on my training. [He pauses.] May I ask one more question?

[Mitsunari lifts his chin a bit, tilting his head inquisitively.]

You may.

What is your name?

I am Mitsunari, of the Ishida family.

I see. So...should I call you Ishida-sensei?
