[ OPEN ] August 2012 Introduction Log
Characters: OPEN to new arrivals and NPCS.
Where: En route to Casualty Communal
Rating: Gen
Time: March 12 onwards
Description: Welcome to Death City!
It had been a little over a week since the sandstorm, and thus a little over a week since the last batch of newcomers. When the readings indicated that BREW was activating again so quickly, it was a bit of a scramble to get everything prepared. The last time it activated before then was early February, so this really was a small time frame. It had been some time since that happened.
But everyone dutifully prepared just in time for the first arrivals. It was also a relatively good day despite the past few rain showers. At least things were much calmer now.
[ooc: Player characters will also be joining the log. Everything after the sub thread Soul Perception is open to all characters.
Quick navigation: Kishin Chamber | Around/Outside Shibusen | Around Death City | Casualty Communal | Soul Perception | Open Thread]

Akiha wanted to hear more about that given she was half-demon. She didn't care for that aspect of her heritage, but it would help her know exactly how much more she needed to not let that be known than usual.
"And I'll take the red one."
no subject
"Both are. Y'got witches, who go around actin' like assholes, but then there's the kishin eggs; humans who turned into monsters after eating the soul of another person. Reason why they're called 'eggs' is if they eat enough of 'em, they turn full-on Kishin... demon gods."
He took the red-ribboned basket and passed it to Akiha's side of the table.
"So y'go on missions to take out kishin eggs. The Weapon eats their soul, gets a little stronger, then down the line they turn into Weapons the current Shinigami-sama can use."
no subject
"Thank you," she said, accepting the basket and looking its contents over. "It sounds as if those kishin eggs aren't directly related to the war. Do you know why missions are focused on them instead of witches?"
no subject
"I'm sick as shit of runnin' from 'em... but y'need a strong Weapon. Kishin egg souls make weapons stronger. 99'a those n' 1 witch soul turns a Weapon into a Deathscythe, more than enough to deal with 'em. My partner n' I got a hell of a lotta work to do..." He ran a hand over his face, careful to avoid the piercing on his nose.

"Ya look like you can handle yourself, but there ain't anything wrong with askin' for help. Remember that n' I think you'll do a'right."
no subject
"Is that was the mirror is for? I haven't looked through the manual yet." There was a pause as Akiha realized something. "Forgive my rudeness. I'm Tohno Akiha."
no subject
A brief tip of his head upward was given in acknowledgement. "Tatsumi Kanji. Meister."
He then ran his fingers through short, bleached hair as he remembered something. "In the basket's a couple info pamplets about kishin eggs n' all that, but the other talks about SEES. We got a meeting t'night in our HQ, next to the arcade. Address is on the card. Nobody's forcin' anybody to join, but we're hard up for members."
no subject
"Hmm. I don't exactly play well with others, as I'm sure you can tell, but give me the short version of this SEES organization. Perhaps I'll sit in on the meeting."
no subject
He then slammed his fist into an open palm, grinning. "So there's somethin' for everybody, yeah? Maybe even you, Tohno-san. I'm pretty sure you can guess what part I'm in for."
Okay, he did like making these gift baskets and making the arm bands but s-shut up.
no subject
And, to be honest, having a group that seemed so... holding hands to support each other could be useful should the nature of her bloodline come out. Maybe she could put up with the pointless bits of this SEES group for the protection it could provide.
"Perhaps you and I have something in common then, Tatsumi. Maybe you will see me there."
no subject
"Cool. If SEES ain't for you, then I'll just see you around, yeah?" He shrugged. If the MO of SEES - or the current acting leader - drove her away, that was fine too. Chick was kinda cold, but Kanji found himself a little curious.
no subject
"I'm certain you will. Thank you, for this," she hefted the basket a little, "and your information. Until next time..."
With a slight nod of her head, Akiha took her leave of the table. She had some things to think about. And living arrangements well, well below her standard to deal with.
