By now, no one is popping in and out of existence, but that's hardly any consolation when odd things keep happening.

At first it's not that bad. An innocuous item or two shows up. Something harmless wanders around that you're sure has never been in Death City before.

By the second day, bigger and more dangerous things start showing up and by the third...

Well.

As long as you don't mind the giant pieces of debris or creatures blocking the road or the sky, it's not that bad, right?

So I am the first troll you have met? [Aranea smiled. Of all the trolls to meet, she supposed she was the most amicable and forthright in being able to talk about stuff.]

There are a few more of us here, yes. You can tell us apart by our grey skin and horns, though they may be of different types. We are quite variable in some ways that are similar to humans and in others quite different. If you have any questions about us, I would be more than happy to provide them for you.

[She gives the cart another look over.]

[He listens carefully to her patient and cordial explanation, glad that he found someone so amiable about talking about all this. The offer for an exchange is only fair, and so Clopin does his best to honor it.]

Ahhh so you are a bard, then? [Aranea asked, trying to keep her bias against bards in check. Well, it wasn't that she didn't like bards, but the ones she knew were particularly disagreeable.]

I am from a planet that has ceased to exist far, far, before humans were conceived. Far beyond the... [she paused, realizing that he may not know what a "galaxy" was.] ...stars and the moon and the planets you see in the sky. Beyond the blackened veil. Upon a separate stage of worlds and suns that is far different from your own: Beforus. I was... well... [she smiled plaintively] I suppose you would call me a conciliator. Or a mediator, if that was a better word. Though by no means enjoyable to your profession, I was tasked with providing help for those that needed it. And to be able provide a valuable role model of what civilized troll life was supposed to be.

[She smiled again, adding:] I wasn't especially good at it, however.

My skills on the lute are certainly adequate and I do enjoy telling a story or two. Though my penchant lies with puppets, I can certainly fulfill the duties of a bard.

[Though being a Gypsy bars him from many halls of nobility, sadly.

He listens again to her story, and so much of it is, sadly, lost on him. He comes from a time, after all, before Columbus, when most people still believed that the Earth was quite flat.]

I'm learning so much about the world, and I only thank God that I have such an open mind. So many from my world would be crying blasphemy at every single turn of phrase, calling it too fanciful for a story, much less an actual occurrence.
