Description: And then it gets worse.



By now, no one is popping in and out of existence, but that's hardly any consolation when odd things keep happening.

At first it's not that bad. An innocuous item or two shows up. Something harmless wanders around that you're sure has never been in Death City before.

By the second day, bigger and more dangerous things start showing up and by the third...

Well.

As long as you don't mind the giant pieces of debris or creatures blocking the road or the sky, it's not that bad, right?

[pishirogane]

[It's there when she walks in and she has to stop and stare. She doesn't know why, but it feels like there's a theme song playing in her head when she looks at the doll. Probably unrelated, but it does remind her of her own Featherman collectibles. A tokusatsu of this world? Maybe it belonged in lost and found...]

[Naoto decides to leave it for now, but comes back a while later thinking maybe she shouldn't leave it out... or here. It looked interesting...]

[She pauses though when she notices Edgeworth going for it. Perhaps a good thing she never stopped walking quietly.]

What are you doing, Edgeworth-san?

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth looks up from where he was headed toward the doll. He quickly pauses, and glances from Naoto to the doll. He seems...evasive, as if he was itching to just get out of wherever he was right now and hide.]

...Good day, Detective.

[The prosecutor looks upward for a moment, realizing that it would be much easier to just admit that the doll was his and then simply say that it was a mere gift.

...but then that would lead to discussing Oldbag. Which isn't a discussion he wants to get into with someone who doesn't even know her or her...er, history.]

That doll...is from my world.

[pishirogane]

[Naoto doesn't know what to make of it. From the movement he was making prior, it seemed reasonable that he would take it with him. His world and he should take care of it.]

[Though, wait a moment...]

Any idea how it got here? [Because if it somehow belonged to Edgeworth, she... doubted he would bring it himself or anything like that. Nope...]

[prosecutory]

No. When I arrived, it was already here.

[He gestures to the doll. Maybe it got there the same way the magatama entered his pocket.]

[pishirogane]

Strange... Perhaps it has something to do with BREW's recent behavior.

[... Maybe... maybe she can.] Who's the character anyway?

[prosecutory]

It's very likely.

[Urk. At this point Edgeworth knows that if he lets his mouth run too much, Naoto will think he's a fanboy. He technically IS but he doesn't need anyone to know that.]

...And that would be the Steel Samurai, hero of Neo Olde Tokyo and protagonist of its namesake television show.

[pishirogane]

[Yeah, she figures there's more to this... but she isn't going to call him out on it. She's actually surprised someone older than her might enjoy these sort of shows. Probably... not the time to discuss it though.]

... Well, I'll... leave you to move it elsewhere.

[prosecutory]

[...Had he said too much?

In any case, he clears his throat and nods.]

Ah, yes. I shall move it to a safer location.

[pishirogane]

Yes... good bye.

[Not... really, they're in the same building, but Naoto does leave Edgeworth to move the Steel Samurai.]

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth does pick up the Steel Samurai, glances at Naoto one last time, before carrying the doll into his office. Safest place for it, clearly. If Naoto sees him again, she might notice him glancing all around the Agency as if searching for more items that didn't quite belong in the premises.]

[pishirogane]

[She does notice, but doesn't say anything immediately. His actions were becoming somewhat concerning.]

[prosecutory]

[Yes, because Edgeworth just closed the door behind him. He'll be placing the doll next to his tea set on the windowsill just like old times...not that Naoto will be able to see unless she pops into his office.]

[pishirogane]

[Which she soon has to]

Sir, we've received a call from the department... [Her eyes trail to the Steel Samurai for a moment...] ... Anyway, it appears a motorcycle has been found in the Jewelry Store. No signs of a break-in, but the police have become bewildered on the matter.

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth notices her noticing the Steel Samurai - but at least she keeps going on about the more important thing which is the...motorcycle?

He turns to look at her from where he was making sure his doll wouldn't fall off the windowsill.]

It may just be a case of illegal parking.

[pishirogane]

Highly irregular... Anyway, they would like an agent to investigate the scene before impounding it.

[prosecutory]

I assume the owner is nowhere inside the jewelry store or within the vicinity?

[Okay, he's done adjusting the doll.]

[pishirogane]

The owner had reported locking up for the evening yesterday with no motorcycle and unlocking only to find it in the middle of his floor displays. Records show he took no other actions besides calling the police once discovering it.

[She looks at Steel Samurai again. Yes, that looks good.]

[prosecutory]

[He turns away from the doll a bit too abruptly, as if trying to show that it's nothing, really, he's not fussing over the doll WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT.]

Does he have any coworkers?

[pishirogane]

[We can talk about it if you want boss...]

One. His wife.

[prosecutory]

[He'll pass. Really, it's okay.]

Has she been interrogated?

[pishirogane]

She has. She left thirty minutes before him in order to pick up dinner for both of them. They did check her license and records, but there's no history of prior ownership of a motorcycle or license. No... wild history on either of them really.

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth steps away from the doll and picks up his organizer, placing it in his pocket.]

Then it looks like we'll have to check if the others have overlooked anything.

[pishirogane]

Understood, sir.

[After that, several more instances to look into.]

[prosecutory]

By the way...Detective, have you seen objects from your home appearing here?

[pishirogane]

Hm?

[She halted, considered, but then shook her head.] I haven't.
