Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on June 4th.

No... [She cautiously takes his hand.]

This is my first time trying this, really.

[Karina doesn't drop him, she knows enough about handling guns, but this form was way different from what she had expected.]

This is... really unique.

I have been told.

[ so, explaining. ]

I'm a Portal gun. I shoot normal bullets, but when resonating properly, I can also shoot portals. [ please tell him you know what a portal is. ]

[gonext]

Where do your portals lead to?

[She speaks aloud when she replies to him. She hasn't actually gotten the hang of this resonance thing yet.]

To wherever you want them to lead.

You have two triggers in this weapon. If you press the two at the same time, I shoot bullets, but when we have a good resonance, one trigger shoots an entrance hole and the other shoots an exit hole.

Alright.

[She carries him over to where there are some dummies for practice. She isn't sure how good they're resonating since she's new at this, but at least she isn't getting rejected by Matt.]

Let's see what we can do.

[She raises the gun, targets a dummy, and presses both triggers. The way her stance was like seems as if she really has experience fighting on the field.]

[ Matt shoots with easy. Red bullets, like his soul, and not only due to her experience but also due to their resonance, the bullets hit the target. ]

Not bad.

[gonext]

[That isn't all that happens when the bullets hit the target, though. Thanks to Karina's Icy Soul, a little bit of frost appears where the bullet hit. Surprised, Karina goes over to it to investigate.]

... ice...

..... Wow, okay.

What? Is it your Meister ability?

[gonext]

... I guess it is. It's the same power I had back home. I've never seen it in action before.

It's pretty cool, actually.

[ people with powers are pretty cool, Matt thinks. Like they came out of video games (of course matt would make this comparison) ]

[Comic books, more like, in Karina's case-- since she's actually a superhero who happened to be a pop star on the side.]

I hope the pun wasn't intentional.

[She huffs just a bit at him. She can sound like a brat, but she's pretty good-natured. He can probably feel that in her soul.]

[ Matt laughs. ]

So, want to try and play with Portals?

[gonext]

Alright. Let's try it, then. Do I need to aim for a wall or something for it to work?

[3rdbest]

It must be a surface big enough to hold the gate way. The ground, for example.

Walls are the best, but it has worked in many other surfaces.

[gonext]

Alright.

[And she tries shooting a portal on the ground not far from her.]

So, do I just hop in?

[3rdbest]

You need to open the two for them to work. Use the other trigger and shoot the second portal near the first one.

Grab a rock too, by the way.

[gonext]

If you say so.

[She shoots the second portal near the first one, following Matt's instructions. Then she looks around and picks up a medium-sized rock.]

So, what do I do now?

[3rdbest]

Throw the rock inside one of the portals. [ And when Karina does, something like this will happen (except with the rock) ]

[gonext]

[Karina does so and she watches with fascination at how the rock just bounces from portal to portal. She laughs.]

This is pretty nifty. How long do your portals stay open?

[3rdbest]

For as long as I have energy. You will actually feel it when I start getting too weak to keep them open.

[ Matt watches the rock for a bit while longer and he finally speaks ]

Okay, so about these portals. The best way to use portals is to learn how to take advantage of momentum. Momentum, in layman's terms means, speedy thing goes in, speedy thing comes out. Rocks, even my bullets or even yourself.

You can actually jump into the portals, if you'd like. You won't get hurt, not at this basic level.

[gonext]

So, would that mean if I just stuck my hand in, all it would do is reach into the other portal, right? And if that's so, if I jumped through this one, I'd come out at the same speed or a little faster, yeah?

[Karina's a brave girl, anyway, and she feels confident in her physical prowess that if she wants to stop hopping between portals, she could just turn midair and land away from them.]

It's better to take the rock away first, if you want to try it, though.
