[Event Log] Mission #202 - San José
Characters: OPEN to those who signed up for the mission here, assigned to San José
Location: San José, Costa Rica
Rating: Varies
Time: May 29th
Description: It's an evacuation! Get people out of there and keep the kishin eggs off of them!
They arrive to sirens, frantic car horns, and shouting voices. The local police are frantically trying to maintain some sort of order: Between soul-eating monsters, panicked people and worse - people who step forward and swear they can take them on - they have their hands full. They're awfully glad to see you, and are happy to point you in the direction of where they'd last seen monsters.
But there's no need to be pointed, they're everywhere, both old and new as they're attracted by the fear and the promise of a feast of souls. Combined with spiking madness making them inconsolable and the shadows passing overhead - witches here to catch a damn good show and 'help things along' - the people here are in dire straits.
It's your turn, agents! Get the civilians out of there, and give the kishin eggs hell, but don't let a witch spot you!
[Coordination post is right here! Make sure to head your threads with the following format: [CHARACTER(S) | LOCATION | OPEN/CLOSED] Don't forget to tag yourselves in!]

[Kanji/Naoto | Hotel District | CLOSED]
Kanji Tatsumi, ever so sensitive. But barking orders was what got people moving, especially when there were monsters about. Though there was a language barrier, the civilians didn't even need to be told twice, especially as he gestured them through the foyer of the third hotel they'd begun clearing out today. When you had kishin eggs climbing on walls and smashing windows to feast on the people inside, a full-city lockdown sure as hell wasn't working.
Fortunately, they hadn't seen any of the monsters in the first two buildings... whether it'd stay that way was debatable.
"Gonna need blade form for this again." He was starting to get used to using the gunblade's first form, but lately he'd been wanting to test something out in close quarters. What better time than now? And blowing holes in the walls wasn't going to help if there were any of the immature demons in the building as he made his way inside.
"Sure as hell hope people'll be more cooperative here than the last one..." He wasn't much in a mood to bodily lug another enraged, screaming person.
no subject
"Very well." He had the chance to practice Soul Menace before today so there shouldn't be a problem like in their last mission. The moment he triggered the change, the blade came forward as usual, edge glinting in the light.
"Indeed. Do whatever's necessary. They'll only get in the way should a Kishin egg decide to make an appearance." There was a pause. "Unless you want me to knock them out. We could place them in a closet for the meantime."
no subject
"I can bust the damn doors open if I gotta. Can ya check for stragglers?" As much as he wanted to kick down each door, he knew from his experience here that time wasted meant more people dead. As much as they hadn't fired a single shot yet - and he'd come here raring for a fight - it helped their chances that they hadn't run into any of the monsters.
Kanji started from the top floor and moved down, went floor by floor. Any he couldn't outright hear behind the closed doors, directing them to come with him if they wanted to live (hadn't he heard that from a movie recently?), he relied upon any soul energy signatures. That was but one of Naoto's specialties.

[Dave, John & Karkat | Closed]
It felt like his emotions were out of control, like he was about to burst, but he had to grit his teeth and try not to let it consume him. Fuck, he'd just got here and already this shit was trying to kick his ass. But there was no time to panic, no time to wonder if they were ready for this. Because there was disaster and fear everywhere, and they had to help. He wasn't going to just stand around like an asshole by the mirror entrance, there were others behind them who could take care of the kishin close by. No, he took off running to where the most commotion seemed to be, where they would be needed most.
"You guys ready for this?"
no subject
"I'm ready." He sounds a lot more confident than he feels.
no subject
"Guys, it's okay," he said, keeping himself calm for his friends' sakes and trying to be as reassuring as possible. "The three of us have been through training together and we're all good friends. We work well together; we've got this. Calm down, don't let it get to you. Let's go help people and kick some butt, okay? We can do it. Stay calm and focus."
Auron and Yamazaki, on the streets, open
Shibusen hadn't been kidding about this place really having a problem. Judging by the screams, kishin eggs were everywhere.
I'm sorry for being awfully late!!!
"Sure, I'm ready, let's go to kill!!!YEAAAAH!!!"
No he was not afraid, at all...
no subject
Well, at least he wasn't going to need to do much to motivate Yamazaki.

[ Eve+Keroro (with a guest appearance by a Witch) | CLOSED ]
Once they were there, Eve focused more on taking out the Kishin Eggs. It was difficult, even here, to get panicking civilians to listen to a little girl even if the police were willing to trust her with this.]
no subject
One of those suggestions had ended up with Eve wearing a flashing light on her head.]
no subject
She jumped back, dodging the attack of a Kishin Egg, she was pressing the Realization button even before she landed.]

[Mello + Near, in the streets | Closed]
He wasn't prepared for this, though. Arriving Shibusen agents were getting mobbed by people wanting help, and he was no exception, a young man seeming to appear out of nowhere to clutch his arm and rattle off a breathless story about monsters, and they were right down that street, and his sister was missing, come on!
Mello shook him off. "Over there," he snapped, pointing to the evacuation route, which was nicer than the guy deserved. He couldn't even estimate how many kishin eggs were between them and the street the guy had pointed out. As if that wasn't bad enough, the madness was already beating a steady pulse against Mello's mind, the sound of flames coming with it as always, and he couldn't be certain they weren't real. He gritted his teeth mentally and physically, reached for Near's mind, and stepped into the battle.
About a dozen, trying to get into that building, see them? Hit them hard.
no subject
It’s as if a strong gust of wind wooshes past them as soon as Mello steps through the mirror: their senses are bombarded with everything this world’s war zones have to offer, from panicked civilians trying to flee for their lives to staggeringly strong levels of madness. Near has never been a sympathetic or empathetic person, and it’s a good thing that Mello is similar to him in that regard; he feels a flicker of annoyance as a stranger tries to get his Meister to help him and his sister, but then his mind clears up again when Mello shakes him off.
His partner isn’t the only one who can feel the madness wavelength: Near feels it too, trying to taint both of their minds, starting with Mello’s. He reaches for Mello’s mind in return and holds on, letting his mental walls come down completely so he can anchor him to sanity as best as he can, keeping the flames-- and whatever else comes with them-- at bay.]
Got it.
[They can’t afford running out of power this early into the battle, but there is only so much lasers can do, so Near tries something out: he uses their resonance attack to hit a few of those kishin eggs with small explosions, trying to fool them into thinking another kishin egg has attacked them. It works, but not as well as Near wanted it to: only three of the creatures are tricked into attacking each other, but it’s still better than nothing.
They can’t rely on subtlety and manipulation alone, though, so Near tries something different: when the other kishin eggs get closer to each other, he directs a different, much more powerful blastwave to the middle of them, successfully exploding a smaller kishin egg to bits.]
That’s better.
no subject
Near's trick isn't something they've been able to practice, and Mello wonders if they could use it to get the smaller eggs to turn on a larger one. This isn't the time to test that possibility, though.
Holding his aim on the group Near's attacking, Mello scans their surroundings, and finds what he's looking for: a lot of kishin eggs seem to be spilling out of one street into this area, probably drawn by the panicking humans. If they could make sure the area's clear...]
Let's find where they're coming from down that way, cut 'em off at the source.

[Edgeworth + Genesis + witchy witch later | PLAZA DE LA JUSTICIA | CLOSED]
Today, Edgeworth's Meister ability was best directed toward the masses of innocent people who were just fast food to the kishin eggs roaming about. And once again, the prosecutor's linguistic skills came into play during a mission as he yelled in Spanish, drawing power from within himself and the Rapier - Genesis - in his hand.]
Leave immediately! Evacuation is this way! [And instead of pointing with his index finger, he would point with the broadsword. And when a man stayed behind to snap a photo of the carnage, Edgeworth rounded on him and barked a full Soul Talk-infused order in Spanish into the person's face.] Do you have a death wish?! I said, leave! [The man yelped like a little girl and ran off to join the others, narrowly managing to avoid dropping his camera.]
[But obviously the kishin were not going to wait until all the civilians were sufficiently out of the way to direct their attention toward Edgeworth and Genesis. Edgeworth had no choice but to promptly turn toward the kishin eggs already stalking them, holding the broadsword out and meeting their challenge.]
no subject
[Genesis spoke through their resonance as they faced the kishin eggs stalking them.]
Let's go.
[With that said, the blade blazed up in full force, ready to burn down all the kishin in their way. Little did they know, though, that in this throng of weaker opponents, there was an opponent who may pose an incredible challenge for them both.]

[Judai/Johan | In the streets | Closed]
"This is insane."
He didn't waste any time, though, before stepping in to protect some people just trying to get away from one of the monsters. "Hurry up, I've got this." He didn't spare them another glance as he swung Johan, hoping mostly to keep things at bay long enough for people to get to safety.
It was gonna be a long day, wasn't it?
no subject
"Just keep your focus - we can do this," he assured the other, sending pulses of calming confidence his way as he was swung toward the monster.

[Yako and Sasha (+ Witch later) Parque Okayama | Closed]
This wasn't their first mission together, but it was their first as an official partnership, and for all that they both thought nothing much would change, Yako wanted to make sure Sasha knew he could depend on her, even more than she usually did. Her soul pulsed out a warning when she noticed a change in the screams echoing around their deceptively tranquilly-designed surroundings.
"I think one of them is headed our way, Sasha."
no subject
He breathes out in response to Yako's warning, closing his eyes and tightening his grip on her handle. He hears a footfall, followed by another, a grounding footing that would be followed by a pounce. Sasha doesn't turn until the very last second, as to take the Kishin Egg by surprise as he strikes the monster's face with the end of Yako's whip, well out of range of the landing. Sasha gives himself plenty of time to sidestep out of the way before the lashed creature manages to land.
Sorry for the week of fail :c

[Six and Holiday (and Biowulf if he wants to come) | Hotel Area | CLOSED]
He rolled his eyes at one official shouting for people to leave in a neat and orderly fashion. Kishin eggs running around, witches flying overhead, and these people expected evacuees to do so orderly?
no subject
There was nothing she could do about not hurting someone in this fray, so she kept an eye out for their enemies. Not just the kishin eggs, but the witches as well. If one of them singled them out as targets, it would not go well.

[Cupid and Atem | All Over | Open]
[Pausing in her steps to look back at Atem, Cupid frowned and looked up at the street sign, making sure they were on the right path to the area they'd been told needed their help. Not too far off, a kishin's screech could be heard, and she tensed, looking over at Atem nervously.]
...maybe I should transform... just in case, yeah?
I *totally* missed this I don't even ._.
In this chaos, it is best to be prepared. [He affirmed with a nod and a quick glance. There was something in her demeanor that held him up however.] You haven't done this much before, have you?
