[Event Log] Mission #202 - San José
Characters: OPEN to those who signed up for the mission here, assigned to San José
Location: San José, Costa Rica
Rating: Varies
Time: May 29th
Description: It's an evacuation! Get people out of there and keep the kishin eggs off of them!
They arrive to sirens, frantic car horns, and shouting voices. The local police are frantically trying to maintain some sort of order: Between soul-eating monsters, panicked people and worse - people who step forward and swear they can take them on - they have their hands full. They're awfully glad to see you, and are happy to point you in the direction of where they'd last seen monsters.
But there's no need to be pointed, they're everywhere, both old and new as they're attracted by the fear and the promise of a feast of souls. Combined with spiking madness making them inconsolable and the shadows passing overhead - witches here to catch a damn good show and 'help things along' - the people here are in dire straits.
It's your turn, agents! Get the civilians out of there, and give the kishin eggs hell, but don't let a witch spot you!

Once back in Edgeworth's hands, he focused on the enemy, leveraging that want to avenge himself to stop any madness from seeping into his mind.]
Let's finish him quickly.

His determination to end this fight became energy he could channel into their resonance, and he willed the blade to burst into flames.]
Don't you dare transform like that again!
[If Edgeworth was worried about Genesis, he's doing a good job of not showing it and instead showing it through chiding his partner. But he didn't dwell on this long enough and struck the kishin egg while it reeled from the Soul Menace attack.]
no subject
I can't risk getting you hurt.
[The weapon gave a dry laugh through their resonance. His dislocated shoulder hurt, and the wounds inflicted on him were deep. But he felt certain he could hold out longer before returning to base.camp.]
The area should be free of Kishin Eggs now. Any more civilians we need to evacuate?
((ooc: we can have the witch step in when they're about to retreat or while they try to evacuate more civilians O: ))

There. After this, we'll return to base.
[He stumbled a bit as he started forward, wincing as he shook one foot; one of those kicks either did it in, or perhaps when he had ran right at the kishin that had attacked Genesis. But he could still walk. Then he picked up speed and began directing the civilians off the area just in case a second wave started.]

[Genesis playfully quips. He knew that his partner had good intentions when he chided him for transforming and taking the blow for him. But really, he wouldn't have it any other way. The Meister was the one always in charge of the battle. If he is hurt, then what good is a weapon without a wavelength to amplify? It was only right that he did what he did. The fact that his Meister was less resilient against physical strain also made him more concerned about his well-being.]

She was the Bull Witch. Could anybody fault her for having a short temper? She felt her magic stir, and as she swooped down on her broom. Threads of her soul gathered in her hands, dark curly hair billowing.]
Taurus tau-gaur... auroch tau-tau!!
[It was almost comical, the popping sound that accompanied the three bulls that materialized before the fleeing sheep and the two shepherds that saw fit to lead them. But nothing was funny about the ground trembling under their hooves as they bellowed and charged, heads lowered, horns glinting. Sitting comfortably atop her broom a good twenty feet up, a 'coy' smile on her face.]

But while the civilians hurried on their not-so-merry way, the second wave arrived much sooner than he expected, in the form of large bulls that charged toward them. Edgeworth didn't like the way the ground trembled under his feet and it almost made him feel sick to his stomach, but somehow, it helped to tell himself that it was really because of those bulls.
...which, in the end, really didn't help at all with anything.
And seeing the figure hovering in the sky? It didn't help either. That had to be a witch. As if things weren't bad enough.]
Aaaaargh! [He faced the people and gestured desperately to them to run as fast as they could. Then he activated his Meister ability to further egg them on in case they needed the extra egging on.] Run! Keep running! [Right now Edgeworth wanted nothing less than to take his own advice, but he knew that if he ran away right now, the bulls (and possibly that witch) would thunder after the civilians.]

[Genesis gritted his teeth. It was bad enough that the kishin egg had injured him and spilled his black blood on him. It was even worse now that they had this witch to deal with. Concentrating on his resonance with Edgeworth, he moved to guide his Meister's arms, slashing at the bulls that came at them and cutting through them cleanly. Rather not make them burst into flames to keep the civilians behind them safe.
They would retreat right now if they could, but with a mass of civilians behind them still running for their lives, Genesis found it imperative to stand his ground until the coast was clear. He just hopes that Edgeworth is ready for this encounter as well.]
We need to keep the civilians safe first. Once they're out of the way, the plan is to run, okay?
no subject
Taurus gau-GAUR!
[Hmph, they were too coordinated. She should multi-task, shake things up then! The magic bolt of fire took the vague shape of a charging bull as it hurtled toward the pair.]
no subject
Then we have to finish this as soon as possible.
[The black blood didn't escape Edgeworth's notice, either. Black blood...but there was no time to dwell on that now. The third bull, before the prosecutor could swing the Rapier at it, had suddenly turned and charged toward the civilians. Great.
Edgeworth moved to pursue the bull, but from the corner of his eye, he saw a flaming bull - no, a bull made of fire, more like - suddenly chase them. Making a frustrated, alarmed noise through gritted teeth, he glanced from the bull bent on plowing through the people, to the other, blazing bull.
He picked up the pace and managed to find the energy to sprint toward the civilians, desperately placing as much distance as he can between himself and the bull of fire.]

Of all things, it had to be a fire elemental...
[Genesis muttered though their connection. What could they do about this...? If only there was a way to take out that fire... or make that bull run into the other...]
no subject
What's the matter, sweethearts? You hustled with such confidence before!! Where'd it go?
[She cackled and gestured with her hands. She'll just have to trample the pretty boy and his weapon. The bulls' heads lowered, horns glinting.]
no subject
Hurry! Don't look back!
[He didn't take his own advice, and looked back himself at the flaming bull and the witch, in time for her to taunt them. The prosecutor set his jaw and was about to fire off an angry retort when the witch gestured, clearly up to something, and Edgeworth turned his head so quickly toward the direction of the normal bull that for a moment he thought he had given himself whiplash.
To be honest, he was not sure what was worse - the people being hunted down by a witch's familiar while a flaming bull chased him and Genesis, or himself and Genesis being circled by both. The latter was probably worse. It showed in how his gray eyes widened with growing fear and how they darted from one bull to the other.
But Edgeworth refused to let fear get hold of him. He had to think of a way to get rid of those bulls. Fire would work on the normal one, but what of the flaming one?
He held out the Rapier, trying to brace himself. Perhaps his ability could confuse those creatures. Getting close enough to use Soul Menace was a tall and very, very risky order.]
no subject
[Genesis braced himself as well, focusing not on channeling his Meister's soul wavelength into flames now, but instead on amplifying his ability. It was going to be a gamble, but he trusted Edgeworth-- trust his strong mind and sharp thinking. After all, this was a challenge that couldn't be answered by sheer brawn.
And as he concentrated, he could feel something tugging at the strength of his soul... something was making him feel stronger. But at the same time, a cold, dark liquid was slowly bathing his feet. He chose to ignore it, though. It wasn't his concern now.]
