[Event Log] Mission #202 - San José

Description: It's an evacuation! Get people out of there and keep the kishin eggs off of them!



They arrive to sirens, frantic car horns, and shouting voices. The local police are frantically trying to maintain some sort of order: Between soul-eating monsters, panicked people and worse - people who step forward and swear they can take them on - they have their hands full. They're awfully glad to see you, and are happy to point you in the direction of where they'd last seen monsters.

But there's no need to be pointed, they're everywhere, both old and new as they're attracted by the fear and the promise of a feast of souls. Combined with spiking madness making them inconsolable and the shadows passing overhead - witches here to catch a damn good show and 'help things along' - the people here are in dire straits.

It's your turn, agents! Get the civilians out of there, and give the kishin eggs hell, but don't let a witch spot you!

It's up to you what's behind Auron...

"Yes. So, err...San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica. It's in the middle of the country on a plateau in the Central Valley and if I remember correctly we're right at...

...

DOWN! BEHIND YOU!"

To his credit, Auron didn't even question. He fell flat on his belly, holding the sword away from his body.

Good thing, too, as he missed the massive claw strike of a kishin egg. As Auron flipped around to his feet, he saw the brief path the kishin egg had taken, leaping from above a building on his blind side.

"Are you ready to start fighting, Yamazaki? 'Cause I am."

Ugh, no, Yamazaki was definitely not ready to fight a Kishin egg. He heard a clear sound as his blade lightly hit the ground, but he didn't have enough time to wonder about having a blade, like it was an arm or a leg. He felt the presence of the Kishin egg, but...

...but the air waved and whirled around him and his thoughts waved and whirled as well. What was Auron doing? Did he go mad ???

"Stop it Auron, she's Mitsuba-san!!!"

"Who the...no, you're getting confused. Don't let the madness screw up your head."

Because Auron was staring into the snarling visage of some huge dog like kishin egg with lots of pointy teeth. "Get it together or we're both done."

What Yamazaki saw was the same ugly monster but he simply knew it was a misunderstanding and it was actually Okita-san's older sister...or wasn't she? Auron said it wasn't. He said they'd die.

Yet that thing was still Mitsuba for him.

"Cut her down, Auron. Do it!"

Good lord XD

Auron dropped to his knees to dodge another swipe to his head. He waited for the kishin egg to overextend its reach before leaping forward and slashing the monster across the throat. It fell to the ground with gurgle of breath.

"There. Not bad, Yamazaki."

Will Auron visit Yamazaki at the hospital to play chess with him? :P

And so, Yamazaki cut through the girl's throat. He did it half-consciously, concentrating on the movement itself and he tried to ignore the feeling as he cut through the living flesh of that kind and beautiful girl he feared and admired. He was never as sharp as in this moment since he arrived to the city.

He cut and cried and screamed like a fallen soul.

"Yamazaki, whatever you're looking at, it's just a kishin egg. An ugly little thing that tried to jump us." Their position was precarious at best. Auron did not have time to look more into what his Weapon's problem was. It was cruel, but they had to keep moving. "Now let's go. We have to protect as many people as we can."

Auron's calm voice helped Yamazaki not to lose it fully, and as he cut down one of

Mitsuba-san

the Kishin egg's leg, he just stopped screaming. He still sobbed, though. And he was still a sword.

"Do what you have to, Auron. I'm a sword."

Auron was nothing if not brutally efficient using a sword, cutting another one at the legs and a third one across the face and kicking it for good measure.

"Trust me when I tell you they're all monsters. I've only got one eye left but I can see that much."

Yamazaki just stopped thinking and focused on staying in his recent form. After all, he's just a sword now, he doesn't have to do anything but cut and cut and cut cut cutcutcut...

The egg lost its balance and showed it's part which seemed to be its...

"Auron, the...stomach..."

It was harder and harder to be a sword. His hands and legs wanted to be free, his lungs wanted fresh air and...well, he felt sick. But he did everything not to turn back yet.

Auron felt the ripple in their resonance, feeling Yamazaki's unease. "Don't transform right here and now! Please don't do it. We'll both be in danger."

Yamazaki didn't answer. He just grabbed Auron's cool behavior and held it like he was hanging from a rock. And he managed not to transform. But the fact that Auron's life was in his momentarily non-existing hands just made him more scared. Mitsuba-san was just an illusion, but Auron was real and he was Sheena's friend and...

I'll be okay. Auron. Just...stay alive, and I'll be the best sword ever, I promise.
