[Event Log] Mission #202 - San José

Characters: OPEN to those who signed up for the mission here, assigned to San José
Location: San José, Costa Rica
Rating: Varies
Time: May 29th
Description: It's an evacuation! Get people out of there and keep the kishin eggs off of them!

They arrive to sirens, frantic car horns, and shouting voices. The local police are frantically trying to maintain some sort of order: Between soul-eating monsters, panicked people and worse - people who step forward and swear they can take them on - they have their hands full. They're awfully glad to see you, and are happy to point you in the direction of where they'd last seen monsters.

But there's no need to be pointed, they're everywhere, both old and new as they're attracted by the fear and the promise of a feast of souls. Combined with spiking madness making them inconsolable and the shadows passing overhead - witches here to catch a damn good show and 'help things along' - the people here are in dire straits.

It's your turn, agents! Get the civilians out of there, and give the kishin eggs hell, but don't let a witch spot you!

Whatever he had been expected, whatever bit of experience had been gained from the last mission he went on with John, the mass chaos and the Madness hitting him almost hard enough to cause a minor lapse in focus sure as fuck wasn't it. His hands clenched tight to his two weapons handles, so fucking glad they took care of the minor issues during training this morning and were told to transform before they went through the mirror. There was no fucking way he'd be able to handle them arguing over stupid shit right now.

It felt like his emotions were out of control, like he was about to burst, but he had to grit his teeth and try not to let it consume him. Fuck, he'd just got here and already this shit was trying to kick his ass. But there was no time to panic, no time to wonder if they were ready for this. Because there was disaster and fear everywhere, and they had to help. He wasn't going to just stand around like an asshole by the mirror entrance, there were others behind them who could take care of the kishin close by. No, he took off running to where the most commotion seemed to be, where they would be needed most.

"You guys ready for this?"

He knew it was going to be an absolute shitstorm, but he wasn't prepared for this. This is utter chaos, and there are enemies everywhere. No wonder BREW is so desperate to bring people here. And the madness wavelength. This is the first time he's felt it, and if he wasn't freaked out enough by the sheer amount of enemies and damage, this is the cherry on top. He can feel the panic building in the back of his mind, the nagging feeling that maybe he isn't actually ready for this, but for now, he has enough focus to squash it down.

"I'm ready." He sounds a lot more confident than he feels.

John felt a small jolt of fear when he saw how hectic things were, and then the weird pressure from the madness, but what concerned him the most was how much he felt the shift in Dave and Karkat. This wasn't good, they needed to be at the top of their game - they couldn't let things get to them before they even started fighting.

"Guys, it's okay," he said, keeping himself calm for his friends' sakes and trying to be as reassuring as possible. "The three of us have been through training together and we're all good friends. We work well together; we've got this. Calm down, don't let it get to you. Let's go help people and kick some butt, okay? We can do it. Stay calm and focus."
