Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on Monday, August 30th.

It's not unlikely for things to get worse than they've been. [Oops, that was really, really pessimistic, wasn't it? He sighs a little, the tone hadn't been on purpose, it's more of an observation based on what he remembers happening back home. Things going from bad to worse wasn't uncommon, after all.]

I really hope they don't, though. I hate thinking of everyone being in even more danger than in that last raid.

[Amaterasu is much better at receiving the muffin than the sausage. Excitedly waits and pretty much eats it once it's before her. Even Kyoko's palm gets a few more licks.]

[Ears up, she leaps to one side, tail high. Yes, she was ready! Let's do it! Wooo!!]

[ Sasuke understands the sentiment. with things coming down to the wire, they need to be fast and strong and smart. these are things Sasuke has been cultivating since he was young. it was harder with a parter like Naruto, reckless and rash, but to Sasuke, winning this war was all that mattered.

but after his conversation with Naruto the night prior— for the first time Sasuke was considering his future.

a heartbeat passes between them as he considers this before Sasuke glances back at the other shinobi. he has no capacity to understand what he might be thinking; they are far from being anything resembling that close, whatever this strange, tentative bridge between them is.

which brings him to one of the reasons he came by— but that, too, is difficult. Sasuke seems to hedge for a moment before speaking. ]

They were pleased with your gift.

I always preferred cats.

[ it might sound callous, but Sasuke didn't care much.

but despite the words, his hand comes down into the thick fur at the back of her neck. Sasuke's gaze falls to his own hand as it moves, keenly aware of how far his fingers disappear into her thick, white coat.

Sasuke very rarely lays his hands on anyone without anger or violence between the gesture. ]

[She understands that. Cats are adorable.]

[Amaterasu doesn't think much, enjoying the feeling of his hand running through her fur. It's not as plush as it would be in winter, but its still pretty soft even after the romp in the dirt.]

[She'll teach him how to be an expert at catch!]

[But later of course. Once that stick is off, she's gone after it again. It's flying further, but she stays with it. Any obstacles in her way, however, suffer the consequences of being bowled over or knocked aside as she goes to catch.]

[He feels Sasuke's eyes on him, but doesn't turn to meet his gaze until the Uchiha speaks again. It takes him a moment to recall those gifts, but he hums, faintly amused]

So they told me.

[But you didn't, he doesn't say. But he'd never been out for gratitude anyway, not when those gifts were meant to be a show of his own. Of the three of them however, he's indebted to Sasuke the most]

[ conveniently, Sasuke looks away again once Neji has decided to glance toward him.

Sasuke has never been good with gratitude. he's aware that Neji may have given him those keychains as a thank you for picking him up from the station, for bringing the healer as soon as possible.

but the fact is, they represent much more to the young Uchiha. ]

Where did you find all of them?

[ it would be easy to mistake his question for all of the gifts. if Neji is at all perceptive, he'll know what Sasuke really means. ]

[ it's soothing, and for that reason alone Sasuke keeps running his fingers through her fur. eventually, his gaze wanders back out to the training ground. ]

Will you leave when the war is over?

[ it's been on his mind, since Naruto and Sakura brought it up. ]

[It's the first thing that comes to mind, because the other gifts weren't exactly treasure hunts. Though Naruto's had been a special order. The smile is faint, more of a quiet softening of his expression as his eyes glance back out onto the field]

Lain was adamant about collecting them, and she managed to redeem a Roy keychain to complete the set. I.. have plenty of mementos already.

There's a lot more work than one.

[He grins, moving past his friend to kneel in front of the dogs, offering his hand to the one wagging it's tail in a friendly manner. Turning his head, he looks up at his friend.]

What are their names?

No problem I understand!

I thought as much, after what happened recently.

[Sasuke might be smaller than his own self but he certainly carried himself like he knew what he was doing. Never one to underestimate, Angeal simply does the same in a quick once over, but then moves on from there. This was a training ground, after all.]

Angeal Hewley. [He gives his name to the other, relaxed.] I have not been here very long, just about two weeks.

[Only cozy thoughts were drifting through her head. Still, her eyes open at this question.]

[She's able to nod just enough. There are things she needs to do back home.]

This world is at war and it needs out help. Though no one wishes for others to get hurt and everyone hopes for peace, such may not happen just yet.

But even so, we all can help make things safer, not so hard. As long you don't carry that weight by yourself, Shinji-kun, perhaps it's not as hopeless as it may look. [ he smiles softly, hand reaching for Shinji's, to gently hold it ]

[ .. Well, Kaworu's eating it now, so he probably didn't do anything too bad.. probably. He can't help but linger on it for another moment, but then he sighs, pulls a hand across his pompadour and lets it go for now. ]

Well, ain't that a pretty normal thing? I've never met someone who hated food. [ And he's already met a lot of really weird types, so he has a good idea of what's considered off the charts weird and what is still somewhat possible.. ]

The shaggy one is Apple. The one with shorter fur is Mei. They're both girls.

[He smiles, quite happy to see his friend bonding with them. Apple seems to be the one most eager to meet the stranger before her, sniffing at him immediately. Mei keeps her distance.]

[Has heard this, but it still seems very strange.]

[ he scritchs his nails behind her ear after she nods, but says nothing further. he's not sure why he even asked— undoubtedly, plenty would be leaving once the war ended. ]

[It is curious why he's asked and it stops her from enjoying the ear scritches as much as she usually would. She turns her head and noses him for a second; second thoughts about what he will do once this ends?]

As long as there is a way to keep citizens away from an infected kishin egg, that particular kishin can be used to infect and weaken its fellows. It can actually work to your advantage.

Yeah.

[She doesn't sound so enthusiastic talking like this.]

[ Hah, things being knocked aside, like Josuke cares about that! He's too busy with the game of catch as well, actually having a pretty good time..

.. except then one of the nearby gardeners is starting to notice them messing up the stuff around the park and starts yelling at them. Josuke pales up and gestures in Amaterasu's direction. ]

C-- c'mon, let's get the hell outta here!

[She's quite proud to bring back the stick in the wake of a few things being knocked over. Or... some flowers and sprouts and sending some dirt flying... knocking over some training equipment.]

[Ammy turns her head at the yelling and she sweats. That wasn't supposed to be a thing. Quickly, she rushes ahead of Josuke to get away from the irritated Gardeners. One thing to bother the gardeners around the training area, but disturbing the citizens gardening was an accident.]

[ this explained why he was in this particular area of the training field. though Sasuke hadn't been back for very long in the grand scheme of things, it didn't escape his attention that those looking for partners or seeking how to change forms was frighteningly sparse.

it didn't bode well, but Sasuke wasn't the kind of person to give up. if he had to win this war himself, he would do so.

he lifts his chin. ]
