EVENT: The Great BREW Malfunction Pt 1 [OPEN]

Description: ...something strange is going on here.

At some point, something strange begins to happen. People start randomly disappearing. Sometimes they reappear immediately after and they may not even notice, but sometimes there's a noticeable lag between their disappearance and their reappearance.

Sometimes, they don't even reappear in the same place!

At least it doesn't seem to be dangerous. Unless you disappeared from your kitchen and reappeared at the other end of the city. In which case, you might want to start running.

Either everything sort of points at this being BREW related (after all, if it were Witches, there would be a lot more danger).

Well... umm... I'm something called a digivice. It's... kinda a long story, and I'm pretty sure that I don't do the same thing the actual digivices do.

If only because that'd make me completely useless here.

[She has no idea what a digivice is... she's just kind of guessing from the name, pff.]

[ Chika giggles at that. ]

Kinda. Yeah. I can... try to show you. Assuming I can actually transform correctly.

Only reason I even knew about this was because BREW decided to throw me down Shibusen's stairs first.

[Asuka winces at that, and... well... she might be casually looking Chika over for injuries now that she's not PANICKING about other things.]

Seems like a pretty awful way to find out... but yeah, see if... you can show me.

Yeah. I mean, it works, but there's a difference between being desperate enough to throw yourself off of one and someone throwing you off of it.

[ She nods though, and closes her eyes to concentrate. Just... focusing on the digivice. If she does that, she should turn back into it, right?

... Nope, nothing. ]

...You might need to walk me through doing this.

[Asuka's waiting expectantly for the change, but... huh. Doesn't seem to be happening, does it?]

Hmph... I dunno if you'll be able to do it the way I do. I kind of treat it like the synchronizing tests with the Evas. I guess... just imagine you and the ... device becoming one with each other?

Becoming one with each other?

[ That's... well, kinda a hard concept to imagine. But well, it was worth a shot. Not just thinking about the digivice, but her body becoming part of the digivice. And the digivice being part of her. Her eyes closed, and she moved to focus on that some more...

And then she felt her body get smaller, turning into a square shaped device that clattered on the ground. It looked like some sort of virtual pet rather than anything that was a weapon. ]

[Asuka let out a yelp as Chika hit the ground, and promptly swooped down to scoop her up, cradling her softly.]

...seriously? Wow, it's smaller than I was expecting...

[ Chika giggles. ]

I might be small, but I bet there's something amazing that I can do as this!

... Maybe. When Masaru was one of these things his meister could control fire that was coming off of him. So maybe it's like that for me too?

[ Though back home she didn't have Burst Mode so... who knew what would really happen once she was used. ]

That's pretty cool, I guess...

[Asuka starts looking Chika over thoughtfully, turning her in her hands.]

I guess we'll have to try resonating to find out, huh?

Yeah. Probably.

[ She doesn't say anything for another moment, but then she realizes that she really can't wait to get started. After all, finding out what she could do was the first step to getting back into fighting shape. ]

Anyway, I'm ready when you are.

[Asuka snorts quietly and then holds Chika up to eye level.]

Okay, okay. Let's give it a shot.

[Time to concentrate... she closes her eyes and then reaches out towards Chika with her mind. Gosh, it's different from this end, isn't it?]

[ Chika doesn't say anything in response. She's too busy focusing on her soul and trying to get it out to Asuka to really say much of anything.

And she... actually manages to miss the first time. But she's not going to let it dissuade her, and she tries again, trying to reach out and latch at Asuka's soul.

Once she finally gets that connection and spark though, she can't help but be a little concerned though. It just... felt different. Not as strong as usual. ]

... Asuka? Is it just me, or is our connection weaker than normal?

It does kind of seem that way...

[Not to mention that Asuka is concentrating REALLY HARD and seems to be sweating a little from the effort.]

Dammit, how come it's not as easy as usual???

[ Chika didn't say anything for a moment, but well... ]

... Well, I guess if I needed any proof that I have... err, had, a meister ability that makes resonance easier I have it now.

[ After all, it's not like she's not trying as hard as she usually does. She's also trying harder than usual. Hopefully as they stay connected a bit they'll have an easier time? ]

[That draws an irritated noise from Asuka.]

...So you made it easier? Dammit... I should be able to DO this, though!

Well... umm... there are a lot of different meister abilities. Maybe you have one that lets you hit harder or something?

[ Though you know what, there's something else that she really needed to point out. ]

And it's not like we're not resonating now. It's just... not as strong as we were expecting. I'm sure we'll be able to get it working better soon enough.

[Well, that ... is some small comfort.]

I guess you're right. Still, I feel like I should... I dunno... be closer to you.

[ She pauses for a moment, not knowing what to say with there. How do you react to "I think we should be closer" anyway?

But eventually, she does speak. ]

Well, I'm sure it'll come in time. But let's... go somewhere. And I guess talk about things. Maybe that'd help a bit?

Yeah, we could talk and maybe... I dunno... we'll get to know each other better.

[ Chika grins... or would've grinned if she weren't, you know, a digivice right now. ]

I'd really like that a lot, Asuka. Let's go get dinner or something. Something good. What do you want?

[ After all, a good meal was one of the best ways to get to know someone, right? ]

Mmmmm, is there any German food around here? I miss it...

... You know, I never really looked for that before.

[ But really, it couldn't be that hard to find. ]

I'm sure we should be able to find something that has German food though. I mean, it's a pretty big city.

And if we can't then some other time we'll look up the recipes and try to make it instead.
