soul_logs | EVENT: The Great BREW Malfunction Pt 1 [OPEN]

Description: ...something strange is going on here.

At some point, something strange begins to happen. People start randomly disappearing. Sometimes they reappear immediately after and they may not even notice, but sometimes there's a noticeable lag between their disappearance and their reappearance.

Sometimes, they don't even reappear in the same place!

At least it doesn't seem to be dangerous. Unless you disappeared from your kitchen and reappeared at the other end of the city. In which case, you might want to start running.

Either everything sort of points at this being BREW related (after all, if it were Witches, there would be a lot more danger).

Then allow me to accompany you. *He thought he remembered getting something from Bakura, a note that he was moving away from their floor and to another location with a few people.*

[He probably sounds stiff, and a mite reluctant, but he will allow it.]

I live in the Fatality Condominiums.

It is not a problem. *Especially since there seems to be something off about Ryuzaki's eyes. Had he been injured?* This is turning into a very odd week. *That sums it up as they start walking to the condos.*

[Accompanying isn't quite enough. L shuffles hastily forward, grasping the crook of Alucard's arm. Without his glasses or a cane, he is wholly reliant on walking pretty much elbow-to-elbow with his new guide.]

Every week has been odd, lately.

*He could comment on this, but Alucard chooses not to. It's not as though the man would actually tell him what happened.* I see. You should also be careful of additional...changes that people think are attributed to BREW.

[Probably not. What little trust L had has been tried lately, too hard to last in the case of some individuals.]

Changes? How do you mean? Elaborate, please...

[Because he would definitely rather know sooner than later.]

It would seem that BREW has switched the alignments of everyone here. Meisters are now Weapons and the reverse.

Is that so...?

[He sounds uncertain, in part because he just doesn't want to believe it.]

I can't assume my Weapon form. You're sure it's everyone?

I know my status has changed and in talking with a few other individuals, it would seem to be the case with them as well.

It's a compelling sample... even if someone comes forward and claims that they weren't changed, it's significant...

[He's troubled. Because if he's a Meister, now, it means that his resonance with Light might have changed.]

No one seems to know what happened or how it happened, only that it has. *What if he can't change back?*

[L hangs a little tighter onto Alucard's arm as they cross a street.]

That seems to be the status quo here, though, doesn't it? No one knows what's going on beyond the fact that BREW has more control over our lives than God.

That's a particularly blasphemous and unfortunately accurate statement of events in light of what's happening. *What WAS going on in this city?*

Only blasphemous if you believe in God, and I do not.

[Spoken matter-of-factly.]

That being said, I think that to acknowledge something greater than oneself is healthy.

*Well, now that you've brought it up...* If you do not believe in God but believe there is someone greater, then what do you believe?

[The words are quiet, but practiced, and they sound about as sincere as anything else L professes.]

I believe in justice.

*L might not be able to see the gesture, but Alucard nods.* That is a thing worthwhile believing in. Ah, I believe this is your building, if I'm not mistaken.

If they're the condos, you're not mistaken. I live here with my partner Light Yagami.

Then we have arrived at the proper location. Are you all right on your own from here, Ryuzaki?

Unless pressing business calls you immediately elsewhere, I would request accompaniment to my door. I cannot see, and I am without my usual aid.

*He knew the other man seemed to have trouble with vision but not to see at all?* Very well. *He lends himself as a crutch once more to walk around to the condos.* What happened to your eyes?

It's kind of a long story, but a former... admirer of mine was upset. And unstable. So he left two bloated bodies... some rioters in my apartment, one of them burst, and I wound up wearing him. Formaldehyde got in my eyes, my eyes got an infection, and that's really that...

*The frank story startles a* My God! *from the dhampir.* Will your eyes be able to heal?

[A pause. Because, really...]

I don't know. Perhaps, and perhaps not. The damage was extensive.

I sincerely hope you are able to recover swiftly.
