Description: It's a housewarming party and a New Year party wrapped into one big celebration!

They hadn't bothered with much decoration, though Rhode had insisted on a bit of shiny garland around the doorframe so people would know exactly where they were supposed to come. Mukuro had bought champagne (and stronger things, for the guests who preferred them) and Rhode had made sure they had a nice little setup of sweets and fruit, including some cake and tarts she'd baked herself. After some struggle, she'd even asked Mukuro to help her figure out how to turn on the stereo for the sake of having atmosphere music.

The leftmost bedroom door is shut, but the rest of the apartment has been left open to nosy guests!

[Izaya arrived quite punctually. Perhaps a tad early. He was all kind smiles and inoffensive looks. And he certainly didn't act overly familiar with his kind hosts. He did, however, come prepared with a few housewarming gifts, sure to make things interesting. But that could wait. For now, he stood back and observed everyone curiously.]

[ Oh, great, it's the mistress. Rhode doesn't look exceptionally happy to see him, but she's not going to be a rude hostess. She has a smile on when she finally goes up to him, but it's not terribly sincere. ]

[Izaya beams down at Rhode, utterly affable. After all, that's the sort of nice guy Nakura is.]

Very, yes. Your partner was so kind to invite me over, I couldn't insult him by not coming.

[Izaya dipped his head, smile looking just a tad sharper before it returns to its bland, nice, unassumingness.]

[ Rhode will be flitting around, either hanging off of Mukuro or looking for interesting people to hover over for a while. She's wearing a pretty blue dress just for the occasion, and she'll be more than happy to offer a tart to the guests she doesn't hate~ ]

[Kurapika doubts that Rhode will approach him of her own accord, so after moment (thirty minutes) of indecision and trying to goad himself into moving, he finally drifts over and places himself in a position where she has no choice but to acknowledge him.]

[ She's munching on an apple slice when he approaches, staring into space with a rather thoughtful expression as she chews. After several moments, she does glance up, finally realizing that he's standing there for her and not just passing by. Rhode gives him a little smile, being the nicest host she can even though she's still a bit embarrassed from their Christmas Eve encounter. ]

[This is one of the guests who prefers them strong. He doesn't look happy, because China is gone, but he said he'd come and being in the apartment means Kurapika might ask him silly questions like why he's irritable in the first place. Or worse, assume why he is, and not be entirely wrong.]

[So yes, there he is, having stronger things that will invariably not affect him anyway. Too bad he can't get drunk unless he has a lot. A really big lot.]

[Except Kurapika was also invited, which means he's also lurking near Kuroro at any given point in time, watching the older man worriedly while trying not to look too worried. Back at their flat, in a different flat, it doesn't matter, they only moved locations. But Kuroro would be correct in thinking that he wouldn't approach as readily as he would have if they'd remained in their own unit.]

[He's deliberately not paying Kurapika any attention, not paying anyone any attention, really. He just looks like he's watching people, but he's really not.]

[No use pretending to be nice and charming with Mukuro. Mukuro will see through it, which makes it a waste of time, because Mukuro will ask or not ask regardless of how Kuroro conducts himself.]

[ Oblivious to his mood, Rhode comes flying over the instant she realizes Kuroro is around, wrapping her arms around his waist and letting out a quiet squeak upon impact. ]

Kuroro! Happy New Year's Eve! Do you want some treats to go with your drink? I made all the pastries myself!

[Immediately puts a hand to her shoulder to steady her, keeping the glass away from the pint-sized little rocket.]

[ ... Well, thank god her cat is locked in the bedroom. Who invited this guy? Has Mukuro been doing something she's not aware of? Ugh. ]

[Hm...as far as liquor goes, Bansai usually goes for stronger sake, but he's finding that the glass of champagne he has instead is interesting enough to hold his favor. Perhaps, something stronger in a bit.

His eyes are wandering across the party, doing more people watching than any actual talking. The fact that he's still wearing sunglasses and headphones at this time of night may be a little odd to most. Not to mention the fact that even with all the background noise, coming close enough to the musician indicates that he's listening to his own tracks at quite a loud volume, loud enough to bleed out.

Feel free to bother him, though. He seems in good enough spirits.]

[ Rhode's starting to get awfully tired, being up so far past her usual bedtime and all that, but she's still doing her best to be a good hostess to all of their guests. She was standing in the kitchen, watching people talk and stifling yawns when she noticed that odd man she met once on the network idling around. He's by himself, which she doesn't think is very social or party-like of him, so she reaches up to put several flavors of the pastries she made on a plate and wanders over to him, holding the plate out in a vaguely demanding way. ]

Would you like tarts to go with that? We can't eat all of these by ourselves.
