Description: It's a housewarming party and a New Year party wrapped into one big celebration!

They hadn't bothered with much decoration, though Rhode had insisted on a bit of shiny garland around the doorframe so people would know exactly where they were supposed to come. Mukuro had bought champagne (and stronger things, for the guests who preferred them) and Rhode had made sure they had a nice little setup of sweets and fruit, including some cake and tarts she'd baked herself. After some struggle, she'd even asked Mukuro to help her figure out how to turn on the stereo for the sake of having atmosphere music.

The leftmost bedroom door is shut, but the rest of the apartment has been left open to nosy guests!

[ She sits down, starting in on the box with all the delicacy of a wolf going at a deer carcass. ]

The government, isn't it? Shibusen, etcetera. [he sits next to Rhode, terminally lazy right now, and leans back to look up the ceiling.]

I dunno. My father's in the government at home, so I guess taxes pay for our gardens.

[ She finally gets the lid open, tossing it aside and digging in to pull out whatever her gift might be. ]

[It's the boots!]

Oh, that makes sense. And your dresses, too.

[ She squeals when she finally gets them out, kicking off her shoes and slipping her feet into her new boots with a series of absolutely delighted noises. ]

They're furry! They're so soft!

[Furry. Kuroro blinks down at her glee and pats her head. At least she was enjoying the present. He'd gotten it before China went away.]

[ Squeaking happily at his patting, flopping over across his chest with her arms above her head like she's about to fly. ]

You always have the best taste. Now I have something to wear out in the cold!

[Oof. He puts a hand on her waist to steady her.]

You didn't before? How terrible. We should scold Mukuro.

I had my leather boots! But those aren't very warm unless I put fuzzy stockings on underneath them. These will be soft and warm!

Only the best for you, isn't it? You should look for Kurapika, he has a present for you, too.

[ She'll likely leave it that way for a bit; it's not like it stands up very well on its own anymore, anyways. ]

Of course. Even in this place, though Mukuro insists it's not the case.

[ But, oh! Perking up a bit, in a rather surprised way. ]

[ She's not sure whether she should be worried or excited about that, so she just smiles. ]

Does it involve a New Year card with a nicely penned lecture on being a better person?
