Location: The New MukuRhode apartment in Murder Manor
Rating: G-PG
Time: December 31; 8 PM - 1 AM, or whenever people decide to go home...
Description: It's a housewarming party and a New Year party wrapped into one big celebration!
They hadn't bothered with much decoration, though Rhode had insisted on a bit of shiny garland around the doorframe so people would know exactly where they were supposed to come. Mukuro had bought champagne (and stronger things, for the guests who preferred them) and Rhode had made sure they had a nice little setup of sweets and fruit, including some cake and tarts she'd baked herself. After some struggle, she'd even asked Mukuro to help her figure out how to turn on the stereo for the sake of having atmosphere music.
The leftmost bedroom door is shut, but the rest of the apartment has been left open to nosy guests!

Very, yes. Your partner was so kind to invite me over, I couldn't insult him by not coming.
[I.e. Guess who's staying the "night" as well?]
Such a lovely place, you must be thrilled.

[ She's going to try her best to keep Mukuro in her sights all night, lover or not. ]
Oh, I am. He decorated every bit of this place just for me.

[He'll let the word "friend" hang over them. Along with his infuriatingly nice-guy smile.
Implications, bitch, choke on them.]no subject
He seems to be a lot of things. But he does dote on his friends, dally with paramours, and absolutely adores his partner.

[Izaya smiles.]
It's such a shame it's an understanding that takes maturity to reach.

Well, when one is given open invitation, it's impolite to keep asking. I would not want to insult my gracious hosts that way.

[ She smiles, finally, but it's bordering on a grimace. ]
And I hope you don't have plans to overstay your welcome tonight.

[Such a sweet smile, this one.]
He puts up with enough, as it is.

[ It's a bit too forward (and a bit too precocious, really), compared to their usual dancing around, but she's getting a little bored with this old game. ]
I don't like you because you take Mukuro's attention and time, and because you're just a nuisance. I have his affection, and that's not something you can steal by slutting around.
no subject
Ah, Rhode-chan, refreshing as always.
[He shakes his head, and offers her a small box.]
There's nothing of yours I wish to "steal" as you say.
no subject
[ She opens her mouth, ready to retort, but--
Well, that box wasn't something she was expecting.
After a few long moments of apparent confusion, she takes the box, holding it as if he's just handed her a grenade. ]
What's this supposed to be?
no subject
A housewarming gift, silly. What else would it be?
no subject
[ Deadpan. But she's poking at the lid, cautiously edging it open with one finger. ]
no subject
You know, dear. For someone who boosts about her immunity so often, you have the cutest habit to forget it when its most important.
[He arched an eyebrow.]
It won't bite.
no subject
[ She finally opens it like a normal person, tucking the lid beneath the box as she goes. ]
no subject
Why would I? I'm not bored yet.
no subject
[ She's never had a colored skipping rope before... This isn't bad at all. It even has funny little handles to make it easier to hold onto! What is he up to? ]
... And if you got bored enough to try something, Mukuro would snap you in two. But thank you for the gift.
no subject
[Izaya beamed, as if the prospect were a pleasant one.]
But really, I'm just looking after his best interests here. You're welcome. I'm sure it'll help you with those pastries.
no subject
[ She's setting the box down, unwinding the rope. ]
Mm. Once the ice is off the road and it's a bit warmer, I can skip on my way to the shop...
no subject
[He laughs in delight.]
I hope that's soon enough! Because at the rate you're going...
