EVENT: The Great BREW Malfunction Pt 1 [OPEN]

Description: ...something strange is going on here.

At some point, something strange begins to happen. People start randomly disappearing. Sometimes they reappear immediately after and they may not even notice, but sometimes there's a noticeable lag between their disappearance and their reappearance.

Sometimes, they don't even reappear in the same place!

At least it doesn't seem to be dangerous. Unless you disappeared from your kitchen and reappeared at the other end of the city. In which case, you might want to start running.

Either everything sort of points at this being BREW related (after all, if it were Witches, there would be a lot more danger).

Shinji and Asuka | On the way to Casualty Communal | July14th, early afternoon | Open shortly!

[This was something that had become almost routine by now. Shinji would need to go out for groceries, Asuka would tag along, and inevitably the two of them would start bickering over something or another. Whether it was something that had been purchased, or had been forgotten, or should have been on the shopping list in the first place, or even something that had nothing to do with the errand at all, it was beginning to feel much like they couldn't take a trip out to the store and back without a problem arising.]

Asuka, look, if you don't like what I'm planning on making, maybe you could... I don't know. Start cooking your own meals. [Ah. So that's what it was today. Probably not the wisest suggestion from Shinji, though.]

[It wasn't that Asuka wanted to be constantly fighting with Shinji. It was just that he was too stupid to figure things out on his own! So at his suggestion, she simply lets out an indignant huff and shoots him a glare.]

What, you think I have time to cook for myself on top of all the training I do, plus going out on missions? Idiot, don't you ever think of anyone but yourself??

[Okay Shinji that's still not a smart way of putting it jesus. At least he isn't bringing up any sorts of points about how he's not even asking anything in return from her for his time, or how he'll go out of his way to make some kind of separate dish for her if she dislikes what he's doing badly enough, or how he seems to be stuck carrying most of the groceries himself or anything like that. Though it probably doesn't help that a lot of his meal plans seem to center on Kaworu's diet oops]

[She flips her hair and looks perfectly affronted.]

[Asuka pls. It's that sort of picking that's going to get him into a defensive mindset and wow look there he's even blushing a little bit. Partially out of embarrassment for having her just call out his motives like that, but also because being at odds with her over something so trivial is frustrating when she doesn't want to budge at all on her stance.]

Th-that's not it...! I'm not going to leave him out just because you're being finicky over what I make, though.

[And here comes her anger, more vehemently than before.]

Oh, but you're okay with leaving me out! I see how it is! He's always going to be more important than me, isn't---

[It's at this moment that BREW works its RIDICULOUS MAGIC and Asuka disappears, sent home for the briefest of moments before finding herself back exactly where she had been moments before. Except now, there was no Shinji to be seen...]

[not being near anyone (beyond his cat) at the time of his brief trip home means kaworu isn't even aware it happened, nor that anyone else had vanished. so...well, he can't really be blamed if he's not excessively concerned when he hears asuka yelling as he comes outside to help bring in groceries.]

Did Shinji run away from you? [not the most improbable thing, given how you treat him. sigh.]

...I just felt like I wasn't here for maybe like... a second or two... and when I was suddenly here again, Shinji wasn't.

[ Chika blinked as she walked through the street, seeing Asuka showing up right in front of her like that. She runs up to her partner, a look of worry on her face. ]

Asuka? Are you okay? You don't feel strange or anything, right?

[She's still trying to kind of figure out where the hell Shinji is, so she's looking pretty disgruntled.]

Huh? What do you mean? I don't feel strange, why would I? ... you didn't see Shinji, did you?

Umm... BREW just teleported you back here. When it did it to me earlier... well... it made things a little bit different than before.

[ She shook her head. ]

I haven't seen Ikari-san though. Were you talking to him before BREW did this?

[That's actually terrifying, considering the point in time she was grabbed from, a-ahahaha.]

Yeah... we were arguing and then he just... wasn't there anymore.

Yeah. Seriously. One moment I was at the arcade, and then the next I'm falling from the top of Shibusen's staircase...

[ She pauses for a moment, before saying something else. ]

Anyway, before we say anything else, try to turn into your weapon form, okay?

[Wow, this is super ridiculous, isn't it? But...]

Huh? Uh, okay, if you really want me to...

[With that Asuka... does nothing. Because it's not working. Which only makes her angry.]

W-what the hell?? I can't do it. Chika! I can't change...!

[ Chika nodded, frowning a bit. ]

Yeah. I... I figured that was what was going to happen. For some reason, BREW's being stupid and sending a lot of people back home and bringing back immediately. And changing them from either Meister to Weapon or Weapon to Meister.

Are you SERIOUS?! Does that mean I have relearn how to do everything??

[EXASPERATED SIGH.]

And I'd just finally gotten used to being a Weapon...

[ Chika nodded, pouting a bit. ]

Yeah. I... I've talked to a few people, and we're all hoping that it's just temporary. Because this really messes up everything. I... I don't even know how I'm supposed to unlearn being a meister. I've been doing it for six months.

[Asuka makes a face and then sighs heavily.]

Dammit, does that mean Shinji got sent home too...? Maybe?

[ And well, she doesn't know why that'd specifically be a problem, but well, she figured that if Asuka really wanted to talk about it, then she would. ]

I mean, it'd make sense if he did, but you know that BREW's kinda weird and not consistent and stuff even when it's not doing things like this.

[Oh, BREW. You and your shenanigans. As Asuka's sent back, Shinji luckily(?) disappears as well. His trip, however, isn't quite as short, leaving him sent back for quite some time before he returns, right to the spot where he had been previously.]

It's not like you can't eat--

[Whoa hang on just a second there. Something's missing. While he's right back where he was taken from, he appears to be raising his voice at... absolutely nothing. Asuka isn't there anymore. His annoyance is hastily replaced with a moment of panic.]
