Description: Anise spies Kratos and enables him to buy her dinner


Anise hated waiting. She would much rather go out and do something than to just sit around. With the recent events, she really wanted a weapon to help her out but she can be picky. She was use to having Tokunaga, her doll, do most of the work but what can she do now? She was use to being in the background and dish out spells, she wanted a staff. However, there wasn't much she could do. She had to try out different weapons.

With a sigh, she mumbled and went out to get some dinner. There was no use in getting upset on an empty stomach.

"Speaking of which, how much does the watch pay?" She asked. No, she wasn't seriously considering of joining, what are you talking about?

[flamberge]

Now that was an unexpected question. At least he preferred these sort of inquiries to some of her previous ones. "20 Death Dollars per hour. Usual shifts are in groups of 6 hours so for a total sum of 120 Death Dollars per day."

[tokunagas]

"I see." She said with a smirk. "Don't worry, I'm not thinking of joining the Watch, I was just curious how much money they make!" Honestly, while she had mixed feelings her job, she liked the people there.

[flamberge]

He raised an eyebrow but said nothing. If that were the case there was no reason not to satisfy her curiosity. At least, with matters of this nature.

The waitress then came by with their food, setting Anise's down first before Kratos' She wished for them to enjoy the meal before leaving. Once she left, Kratos removed the napkin from the table, unfolded it and placed it in his lap, as was proper dining etiquette.

Anise did the same before starting on her sandwich. She looked back at Kratos and started to wonder if she was eating it correctly. Those rich people and their way of eating...

With knife in right hand and fork in left, he began to cut up the fish. Anise's watchful gaze didn't go unnoticed. "It's impolite to stare." Bluntly stated Kratos before eating the piece of fish now on his fork. Hmm the food was definitely worth the money.

[tokunagas]

"I know, I know." She said before chewing down on her sandwich. As she did, she was once again reminded of how rich he might be back home. It still wasn't fair!

"So how is it? The fish?"

[flamberge]

Kratos looked up at her after swallowing. While giving her a taste of the wine was out of the question, allowing her to taste the fish wouldn't hurt. Given her reaction about the having ordered this food, it's unlikely Anise ever ate something more expensive than a regular sandwich. "Would you like to sample it for yourself and see?"

[tokunagas]

She smiled sweetly at him. "Pretty please? I never had a chance to try this kind of fish before and would love it if you could!" Well, she had salmon before but it was rare that she had a chance to eat something like this. The last time she had this was when she was on her trip to save her world.

[flamberge]

Wordlessly, he pushed the plate in her direction so that it would be easier for her to try it. Eating utensils were already at the table upon arrival so no need existed for him to give her his.

With that, Anise took a small chuck from his plate before giving a bite. As she does so, she smiles to herself. "It's been such a long time since I ate something like this!" Of course, she said it without realizing it.

[flamberge]

Those words coupled with her happiness at tasting the fish made Kratos realize he probably wasn't going to be eating any more of that. She'd likely appreciate the food more than he ever could, anyway.

"You may have the whole thing, if you wish." Not like eating was a necessary thing or that he hadn't eaten anything for the past seven hours, nope. There were probably some bananas or other fruit left back at the apartment he could eat later.

Then she stared at him. Did she just heard that from him? Huh, he was a lot kinder than a lot of rich people she knew. However, she wouldn't have it. "You know, if you don't eat anything, you'll die of starvation later. I don't want to be the cause of your death when that happens."

[flamberge]

"Starvation requires upwards of several weeks in order to prove fatal and I have no intention of going without food for that long a period of time." Deadpanned Kratos as he picked up his wine glass and took a drink. Good quality wine, though now lacking a meal to accompany. Oh well, alcohol can be consumed on its own.

[tokunagas]

She pushed the fish back to him. "Nope, you're going to eat it! You bought so you eat it! And besides..." She points back to her meal. "I can't finish all of this! I need someone else to eat the rest!"

[flamberge]

"I'd purchased your meal as well, you realize." He bluntly stated. Really, if she wanted to use an argument against him there were better ones to use than that, ones more difficult to rebut. Even so, the meal belonged to her now. "If you are unable to eat it all, simply have the waitress wrap it for you so you might take it home."

[tokunagas]

She pouted at him. "Now you're making me feel guilty." She sighed before taking another bite from the fish. "At least eat some of it! Or else I won't eat any of it anymore!"

[flamberge]

With a soft sigh, he set down the glass before picking up the fork and knife. He cut off a small piece but large enough to prevent Anise from complaining of its size. Once having swallowed, Kratos turned his gaze back on her. Hopefully that had been good enough. "Was that satisfactory?"

[tokunagas]

"Yes but you need to eat some more!" She wasn't going to have it until he ate at least half of it. She pouted for him to continue. She had learned her lesson but she still felt kind of awkward around kind people. Then, a flash of guilt. Why did he have to remind her of Ion?

[flamberge]

Now that reaction wasn't one he'd been expecting. Her sudden crestfallen expression actually concerned him. Was she maybe not feeling well? "What's wrong?"

[tokunagas]

She wasn't paying much attention to her expression at the time. She questioned Kratos. "Huh? No, everything's fine!" When she said that, that was when she realized what happened. "But you're so kind to ask! I still say you would make a good husband one day!" She hoped that would change the direction of the conversation.

[flamberge]

A frown crossed his face and he just stared at her for several moments, saying nothing. Finally, he set down the fork and knife, closed his eyes and picked up the glass again. "You should also attempt to improve upon your ability of steering a conversation away from an unpleasant topic without being so obvious." He stated before taking another drink.

[tokunagas]

She paused at him. Was it that obvious? "Well, it's something that I don't want to talk about. Let's just say...it's something that I'm not proud of." What would he think that a little girl killed her own friend? Not to mention it was someone who was so...kind.

[flamberge]

"Few could truthfully say that they have not done actions which they regret." A comment made more to comfort rather than pry. What had happened to her was not any of his business, but she clearly was troubled by whatever occurred.

Anise wasn't sure how to respond back. However, she did smile back at him once more. "You got that right. Does who don't are just big jerks!"
