EVENT: From beneath the earth came Death himself
Characters: Everyone
Location: Death City
Rating: PG13
Time: September 28th
Description: Something bursts from down below.
The tremors have kept going on and off for a day now. By noon, the alarms sound, to warn for the Kishin Eggs coming closer to the city.
People had been warned in advance though, so this isn't a surprise.
The ground suddenly bulging has turned into a somewhat normal thing since yesterday too.
What no one expected was for the bulge to get larger and larger until two figures burst from the ground...and a wave of Madness, sudden and potent and nearly overwhelming struck the city. The Kishin Asura has entered the city from below and on top of that, the Kishin Eggs begin to invade the city.
Luckily, someone else had returned from the deep to help.
((OOC: There will be a separate thread for those who'd like to interact with Shinigami-sama going up. Remember, when Asura bursts from the ground, character powers will be temporarily unlocked but they will also suffer from Madness.
Please put character name | location | open/closed in your subject header!))

Shinigami-sama | On top of the school | Open
The time has not been so nice to him but anyone who comes by will get a hefty thumbs up from him and joy (though that's harder to tell because of the mask).
"Quite a time we're having today, isn't it?"

Still, stopping on top the school for a better view, she turned her head as someone spoke. A few sniffs and it reminded her of Kid. Immediately, her tail curled over her back as she wagged. Fancy you decided to show up now, but geez she was relieved for the sake of his city.

Even when gone for a long time, he'd never forget about his students. Even the ones that weren't around when he was. It was part of the magic of being the head of the school.
"Hopefully my arrival hasn't caused too much trouble."

"I'm sure he's fine, even after all that. If he wasn't, he couldn't call himself my son."
But at her second question, he had to scratch his chin.
"It certainly is. He's a little ferocious, isn't he?"

Amaterasu | Around Death City | Open
[Jumping on top a building in one spring, her nose crinkles and she snarls, rearing to fight against the Kishin that has come forth. Besides that, she howls to call for the attention of Kishin eggs. Though she figures she might need a Weapon to defeat them, she may as well keep them away from the citizens. Jumping down from her perch, she was off again, shield, brush, and claws striking. Time to receive some of her more righteous fury.]
Lily Ivory | Various | Open
[The day had started out normally enough despite the occasional tremors. Lily performed the usual cleansing ritual—sprinkling salt water widdershins and then smudging deosil with a sage bundle—more out of habit than actual effectiveness in this world. Placed money in the cash register and flipped the sign in the shop door to open at eleven.]
[But the normalcy was shattered when the sirens started blaring less than an hour later. And then the Madness hit her, sending her nerves on edge, as if someone might come after her. However, this time her freaking out manifested in the form of merchandise shooting through the air. High heeled shoes, silk scarves, and pieces of costume jewelry swirled around. If anyone approached, a shoe would be flung their way. The fear in her eyes making it obvious that something wasn’t right.]
Stay away!
B) Streets
[Between the sirens and the sudden return of a few of her abilities, it was obvious that something was wrong. Another attack on the city as the folks at the school had anticipated? She had to get to her partner in that case.]
[But the Madness was still affecting her, now making her see things as she ran through the streets towards the clinic. She let out energy blasts from her hand, knocking over kishin eggs that appeared in her path as well as garbage cans that she mistook for kishin eggs. Be careful or she might knock you over too!]
C) Clinic
[By now she was getting a headache from the Madness and the constant noise of the alarms. Flickers of colored auras had also started appearing around the people she’d ran past in the streets, making her further wonder if she was losing her mind. Pushing through the door of the clinic, she called out for her partner.]
Lezard, are you here?!
B
It's hard to tell what exactly the figures were - be they corpses of people or kishin eggs - but there was a distinct lack of any souls (blue or red) floating above them. At the sound of the trash cans, the woman turned to look over her shoulder with piercing blue eyes.
Familiar cold blue eyes.]

[But Akiha had spoken of being half demon, something that she had to keep under control. She kept her hand out and ready to fire off an energy blast if needed.]
What in tarnation happened here? ...Did you kill them? [Whatever they were. The charred figures were burnt beyond recognition.]
no subject
[Akiha turned fully around then to face Lily. This time, the two glowing red souls are easily seen in one hand as she shoves them into a pouch at her side.]
no subject
What's going on? Are you turning into that demon? [What had she called it? The Crimson Red Vermillion?]

[Lezard lie in wait while he administered sedatives, dismissed nurses and fellow medics on breaks. He was a Deathscythe... surely Death himself - he'd thought the creature was dead, but one supposed you could not kill the aspect - would call upon his magic if needed. Instead he heard a frantic voice and excused himself from his colleagues, moving immediately to find his Meister.]
[The Witch was met with an eye of scrutiny. She'd walked the dangerous streets without thought again, hadn't she?]
Are you harmed? The television broadcasts urged everyone to stay inside unless absolutely necessary or until urged otherwise.
no subject
Mostly just getting a heck of a headache. Besides, I couldn't just stay at the shop. Not while demons were running around town.
[Even if they no longer needed to collect souls, it didn't seem right to leave the normal folks to fend for themselves. Especially when she was now the partner of a Deathscythe.]
...Has anything strange happened to you?
[After encountering Akiha on the way here, she wondered if others had been affected too.]
no subject
[He crooked his finger to beckon her closer and turned to acquire antiseptic and cloth.]
I'll clean the marks on your arm at the very least...
But your question is a curiosity. Should something strange happen to me?
no subject
[As she moved closer and let him take her arm, a bluish flicker appeared around him.]
I don't know why but my magic... Some of it has been coming back since the alarms sounded.
[The shop had been in disarray from her telekinesis by the time she snapped out of it and got it under control.]

Sion Eltnam Atlasia | Around Death City | Open
Without Akiha though, she could only handle so much. But she would do what she can, using her weapon abilities combined with her own powers. A deathscythe was never hopeless against anything.
Right now, she took a small break, looking for her partner. But she would currently take anyone at the moment and hopes she resonates.]
....would you mind fighting with me for a bit?
no subject
[Growling, she blinked when being addressed and turned to see Sion. Uh, her partner wouldn't mind, right?]
no subject
...you can use a weapon, correct?

[Despite her reservations at working with an animal, Sion transformed. She turned into a sword with an eye on the hilt, her death-scythe form. She simply hoped that the wolf would understand her logical mind and work with it, making for a ferocious team.]

Akiha Tohno | Fatality Condominiums | Open
No, no, no, no, no... She refused to be a slave to her blood, a slave to a witch, again. Biting her lip hard enough to draw her own blood, Akihs knelt down and fought against it. She was stronger than this. There was no chip making her do it, turning her fully into that monster.
Black hair turning crimson, Akiha closed her eyes and focused on the call of her origin. It was sucking her in, pulling, but then she purposefully hit her side, letting the pain from her broken ribs flare through her. Pain could take her deeper, but this time the pain gave her clarity. It reminded her that they'd hunted and killed Hachi. This was not her.
But it might be another witch.
Hair still bright, unnatural vermillion, Akiha burst out of her room and started going through the rooms. Searching. And she didn't care who might be in the room or if the door was locked. Her strength easily broke them down if necessary.]
Count D | Around Death City | Open
[The chirping of the birds became frightened and his eyes widened as he realized could hear the words again. Understand the chirps as clearly as if the birds were speaking English. He called out, trying to reassure them and they flew to him, attracted by the blood.]
[He should find Miss Rosalia and make sure she was okay. D left the park and hurried through the streets towards the clinic, gathering a trail of birds, squirrels, alley cats, stray dogs, and other small animals as he went.]
Clinic
[She's not doing well herself; not without her partner. Still, she's going to try keeping kishin eggs away with her butcher's knife from the kitchen.]
no subject
Miss Rosalia! Are you okay?
[Was she really trying to defend the place on her own with just a knife? Where were the others who worked at the clinic? Were they all busy with patients already?]
no subject
[Of course she was surprised by the numerous animals behind him. Glancing at her butcher's knife, she waved her hands.]
I-I'm okay! They haven't come this way and if they have, I haven't seen them... a-and this is not for the animals you brought. It's the only thing I could think of before stepping outside. [She probably didn't have to explain that considering, but Madness always made her a bit more nervous.]
