EVENT: From beneath the earth came Death himself
Characters: Everyone
Location: Death City
Rating: PG13
Time: September 28th
Description: Something bursts from down below.
The tremors have kept going on and off for a day now. By noon, the alarms sound, to warn for the Kishin Eggs coming closer to the city.
People had been warned in advance though, so this isn't a surprise.
The ground suddenly bulging has turned into a somewhat normal thing since yesterday too.
What no one expected was for the bulge to get larger and larger until two figures burst from the ground...and a wave of Madness, sudden and potent and nearly overwhelming struck the city. The Kishin Asura has entered the city from below and on top of that, the Kishin Eggs begin to invade the city.
Luckily, someone else had returned from the deep to help.
((OOC: There will be a separate thread for those who'd like to interact with Shinigami-sama going up. Remember, when Asura bursts from the ground, character powers will be temporarily unlocked but they will also suffer from Madness.
Please put character name | location | open/closed in your subject header!))

[One of her eyebrows rose at the girl's tone when observing that she wasn't injured. Why did she almost feel like Akiha might have been disappointed about that? Best to stay on guard in case the demon blood makes the girl do strange things.]
The clinic. My partner works there. And if you were looking for her, I haven't seen Sion.

[But first they had to deal with the five kishin eggs that converged on the pair. Two from the roof, two from an alley and one burst from the ground right at Akiha's feet. She leaped back from it and pivoted, her crimson hair writhing about her as if it was alive. The kishin egg was seemingly ripped from the ground before it could get out on its own, flesh going up in flames in a way no flesh should be able to, and it tumbled across the ground.
Another kishin egg bore down upon her and she caught it's jaws with a grunt, holding them open as smoke started to pour from the things mouth along with a panicked whine of pain from the kishin egg. Dropping down onto back back, she used her legs to launch the beast up into the air where, in surreal fashion, it hung there suspended twenty feet up before slamming down into the ground as if flung by something with such a force that bones audibly broke.]
Behind you.
[That's all Lily was getting from Akiha before she turned back to the first kishin egg with a sadistic grin, the thing struggling to its feet before collapsing as it burst into even greater flame.]

[She'd been focused on keeping an eye on Akiha and hadn't noticed the demons sneaking up to ambush them until one burst from the ground at Akiha's feet. Stunned at how quickly the girl managed to set it aflame, she was glad not to be the target of her anger. At the warning, she whirled around, just in time to aim an energy blast at a kishin egg coming from the alleyway. It stumbled back, also knocking over the one following it.]
[Unfortunately, Lily's energy blasts were usually only good for knocking targets off their feet and stunning them a moment or two. More of a delaying tactic to give her a chance to flee than an effective method of combat; she'd never been good at fighting magic back home and it wasn't any different now that the ability had come unsealed. They were climbing back to their feet within several seconds. She raised her hand again, letting off a couple more blasts of energy to knock them backwards against a brick wall in hopes it would buy more time.]
I can't kill them on my own! Only slow them down!
[The touch of pyrokinesis she had back home didn't seem to have unlocked; not that she normally used it for more than lighting candles. And unlike the other Guest Meisters who had made their partners into Deathscythes, she had never learned Soul Menace so this world's ways of fighting wouldn't work for her either.]

A few seconds later, the vermillion strands of Akiha's hair would flutter into Lily's sight as they seemed to be blowing in a non-existent wind from directly behind her. Yes, Akiha was quite close to the witch - close enough that the heat from her body was felt, coming off her in waves. It never did that before whenever Lily had been around Akiha. She'd taken in so much lifeforce that her body was naturally shedding the excess in heat.]
Your magic is that weak? [The two kishin eggs picked themselves up and rushed at them again. Before they got too close, they suddenly stopped and struggled against... nothing restraining them. At least nothing that could be seen.]
Or are you just the type of magus that doesn't use her magic to cause harm?
no subject
Magic just doesn't work that way in my world! It takes time and concentration.
[Then the kishin eggs were coming again but stopped as if held back by an invisible force. She could only assume it was Akiha's doing.]
And I'm better at brewing than fighting. [She was actually the most powerful witch in San Francisco besides Aidan Rhodes. But she doubted even he could set creatures on fire like Akiha was doing. Magic was a much more subtle affair in her world.]

[And it certainly seemed like they weren't with the way they struggled with futility against whatever was holding them. One even tried going away from the pair, but it was as if they were wrapped up in something unseen.]
no subject
I can't do it. I don't think all of my magic came back. [And it made sense anyway.] Besides, I couldn't kill demons with my magic, only banish them.

[Akiha had muttered that under her breath, but with as close as she was to Lily, the other woman surely had heard her. Perhaps the half-demon had wanted her to hear them.]
Then I suggest you take this moment to run away while I have them at my mercy.
[And with that, Akiha walked past Lily as she took her time approaching the contained kishin eggs.]

[She let out a huff but decided to keep any exasperated mumbles to herself. Short of the infamous choking curses, magic just wasn't a good method of bringing about a quick death in her world. And she could do without Akiha changing her mind and trying to go after her. She ran off, heading for the clinic again.]
