Morning Training Log!

Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on May 27th.

[ S'alright, it was just a dummy. ]

That's what they're built for, though. Destroyed dummies means there are capable Weapons and Meisters. So I suppose it's a reassurance to see them well-used.

Well-used and sometimes still in tact. That can symbolize control, but we did want to see the extent of your abilities now.

[brainius]

This is true; It's beneficial to know that as things stand, I'm able to cut through things. [ She can't help a little chuckle. ] Hopefully we won't destroy too many more of the dummies.

[motherofthesun]

I'm sure we'll be careful.

[She chuckles a bit.]

[brainius]

With practice comes perfection, so I'm certain we will be; a little bit at a time.

[ She chuckles in return. ]

[motherofthesun]

Oh yes.

[Off to another dummy which she sits before] Let's try some of that control with this one.

[brainius]

Okay. [ She pauses, hesitantly. Curiously, she tries to specifically think of how to control herself for this. ]

I should focus more on... surface damage, not dismembering, I assume...?

[motherofthesun]

Yes. This will work on your rotation speed. Are you ready?

[brainius]

[ Rotation speed. Less about cleaving through at full power, more about being in control... It shouldn't be too hard; so long as she focuses. ]

I'm ready, yes.

[motherofthesun]

Alright.

[Amaterasu places the chainsaw against the wood. This really isn't about chaining and hacking, but just speeds. Still, she's there when Ghoulia needs her.]

[brainius]

[ And... Slowly, she controls the spin of the blades, revving them between speeds experimentally. It's... actually a lot more challenging than she wants to admit. ]

This takes a lot of focus... [ She'll get it, surely, if she doesn't give up. But for right now she's focusing on trying to keep the slowest spin that still causes damage to the wood of the training dummy. If she can master speeds one at a time, maybe...? She's already got down "spin really really fast" after all. ]

[motherofthesun]

Yes. Still, take your time. Notice how your energy rises and falls.

[brainius]

[ She does, and it's fairly obvious that she's focusing given how silent she is for several long moments. She's going to get this, and at least be able to do it on command. Full mastery would come with continued use, but she had to be able to use it first. ]

[ And with that, she's very careful, minding her energy, minding every little bit of how it feels... and then she's spinning with precise consistency; focused and silent. ]

[motherofthesun]

[Amaterasu lets Ghoulia do this for a while, but then...]

Incoming! [Not really. She's just saying that suddenly to see how well she can remain focused.]

[brainius]

[ Focusing is relatively easy, once she has the hang of- ]

[ Okay, you caught her off guard. Because her full attention goes elsewhere, immediately looking around, which means that the chainsaw blades come to a thnk-thnk-thnk stop in the dummy for a moment. ]

... [ She's observant, though, and she catches on to what just happened very quickly. ] I certainly failed that test.

[motherofthesun]

[She has to chuckle a bit and nudges the Weapon a bit with her back]

Don't worry. That is exactly why we train.

[brainius]

[ Right. Training. To get better. Her confidence comes back, strong as ever. She can do this. ]

To be prepared for the real thing, yes.

[motherofthesun]

Very good. Now, let's try again.

[Amaterasu allows the chainsaw to rest against the wood again.]

[brainius]

Certainly.

[ Again, then. She has no complaints, and once more she focuses. Be it energy, her internal balance, whatever name you wanted to call it: She's back to keeping a very specific spinning speed. No more failures from her. Or at least, she's determined to prevent them. ]

[motherofthesun]

[Very good...]

[Amaterasu again lets Ghoulia get into it, concentrating and utilizing the energy they can share. THe girl is probably anticipating her interrupting again, but not just yet.]

[brainius]

[ That's entirely right, to be honest. Now that Amaterasu has interrupted her once, she knows it'll be reassuring for both of them to know she can manage to stay focused despite an interruption. ]

[ Of course, she just doesn't know when. But she's certainly ready. Focused, concentrating, and prepared. ]

[motherofthesun]

[Amaterasu notices this and waits a little longer. Everything is going smoothly.]

... Oh, hello Cupid.

[brainius]

[ ...a brilliant distraction, admittedly. But after steeling herself and focusing, she's not going to falter. Truthfully, the presence of a close friend only urges her on to keep her concentration. ]

[ She doesn't spare her attention at all to look around at first, though after a few moments, she offers an amused response. ] ...A clever test.

[motherofthesun]

[She chuckles when Ghoulia manages to keep going.]

Very good. I almost had you.

[brainius]

[ She's much more in control and focused already, that much is clear. She'd just need to keep it up and not forget. ]

You almost did. [ Though why Amaterasu would be greeting Cupid's arrival with a voice to her didn't fit, but the effectiveness of the test was there. ]
