Morning Training Log!

Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on May 27th.

[Anywhere between finding a partner, SEES and the Hug Brigade, Cupid takes a break here and there with a book- not her usual psychology for once, but a novel.

It doesn't seem to be in English though...

Either way, she's always up for talking to people if anyone wants to bother her.]

[Frowning so hard at her book.]

What are you reading?

[And then a guilty and somewhat sheepish smile and proper greeting.] I mean, hey Cupid, how are you?

[amorini]

Aethiopica.

[She looks up from her book with a slight quirk of a brow, crossing her legs at the ankle and leaning back against her bench.]

Hi. Something on your mind, Takuto?

[tauborn]

[He shrugs, taking seat beside her and deciding that her book looks like a difficult read.]

Not particularly. Is it a good book?

[She is free to notice that he's been in a rather good mood lately.]

[amorini]

Yeah. It's been a while since I read it though.

[A century, at least.]

You sure? You're in an awfully good mood.

[tauborn]

[He blinks a little at her.] Am I? I feel... I don't know, I think I've felt more like my normal self lately than anything else.

[But now that he thinks about it, maybe Cupid is right. Things with Yako are amazing, he has some friends from home at his side, he's no longer working in the middle of the night and is even doing well at his new position.]

[amorini]

I see.

[Ah. A resolved issue then, perhaps?]

Did something happen? Something good, I mean. That generally tends to do the trick when it comes to people getting back to themselves.

[tauborn]

[He's not exactly about to blurt to Cupid about the birthday present Yako gave him, though that probably has a lot to do with it.]

Well, I suppose things have been going well lately. BREW brought my best friend here earlier this month, and although I think at the time I had mixed feelings about it, I think I'm really glad he's here.

Oh, I also switched Watch shifts so now I can actually sleep at night.

[He shrugs again. For the first time, February seems like a long time ago.]

[amorini]

[Probably not the best of ideas, no.]

A lot of people getting friends from home this time around I guess. One of my friends is here now too.

[She tilts her head some and raises her eyebrow.]

...it didn't occur to you to change shifts before?

[tauborn]

[He shrugs, shaking his head with a wry smile.]

I thought about changing shifts before but... my old shift was Aion's shift. I don't think I was ready to let go of it.

[amorini]

Aion?

[Curiously.]

Well, at least things have worked themselves out, right?

[tauborn]

[He takes a deep breath in preparation before explaining, and it's kind of a relief that the words come out as easily as they do.]

Aion was my partner before BREW sent him home.

[And then he nods.] But things are working out just fine.

[amorini]

Oh- I kind of figured it might be something like that.

[But she didn't want to make any assumptions, so...]

It's good that you're moving on though. Dwelling on things like that don't generally make them easier to deal with.

[tauborn]

I think you're right. But it can be hard to not dwell on things, you know?

[amorini]

Yeah, I know it can be... but it seems like you handled it, at least?

[tauborn]

I did. [He winces a little.] Not very well, though.

[amorini]

Define 'not very well' for me.

[tauborn]

[He winces and then looks away.]

I, um, asked Ryuzaki to go on a mission with me. It was a pretty close call for both of us.

[amorini]

...who?

[And then after a moment-]

Did you get hurt?

[pregames]

[Atem keeps himself off to the side of the area reserved for finding a partner as if he were only half committed, half searching while the other half is already engaged. Only he isn't prepared to admit it. He sticks to observing the gathering, surreptitiously, from over the edge of a book where he busies himself with scrawling notes. Hurried strokes forming elegant glyphs there would be illegible to all save himself.

He doesn't go out of his way to be unsociable, however. If he catch the eye of a familiar face he still has a smile and a nod in reserve. Even for someone like Cupid who he's only met in passing.] Morning...

[amorini]

[Cupid herself is more often than not only sort-of paying attention to anyone who walks by unless they say something. So when she's greeted by Atem, she actually puts her book down for a second to beam at him, raising one hand in a wave.]

Good morning! Up to anything interesting?

[pregames]

No more than usual. [He shrugs and cocks his head slightly, his pen stilling for the time being. After running into her for the first time, he had begun to notice her more and more. A kind of pleasant radiance accompanied her that was rather hard to miss...]

Having any luck?

[amorini]

That's a shame.

[But at least he doesn't seem to be too bored, all things considered. He reminds her of Cleo sometimes, if only in his bearing- he's definitely far too nice to be considered too much like either of the De Niles though.]

Finding a partner for myself, you mean? Not really... but I'm hopeful!

[She smiles gently and pats the ground beside her, holding her place in her book with a finger.]

Care to join me? I've got iced coffee...!

[pregames]

[There's a moment where Atem seems to give the offer a second though but what's the harm? He's already finished with training for the day. So he slides down beside her, comfortably removed with his legs tucked under him. The book is only a mild curiosity since most things of that nature are unfamiliar to him.]

I cannot say that I have ever had it before. Do you always bring extra? [The same as last time. It's easy to assume it was just for someone else.]

[amorini]

[She beams when he takes her offer, settling the book face-down in her lap and turning her attention to him entirely. As usual, the spare coffee is in a cup-holder next to her, and she offers it up with her normal cheery smile.]

Usually, yeah. I mean, I bring enough for everyone in SEES, but there's always a few more, just in case. Can't hurt to be prepared, right?
