Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on May 27th.

Novelty Class - Dual Resonance and Resonance Attacks

[Takuto is of course super intrigued by the dual resonance class and resonance attacks. He's not so bad at dual resonance himself, but if Kanji has any tips, he would really really like to hear them. He grins as he approaches his friend.]

I didn't know you dual-wielded. [Though isn't that awkward to do if one of the weapons is Naoto?]

Huh? ...Nah. I know how, but I don't. But there's a lotta shields and support Weapons out there that need Meisters, that could be pretty damn handy if a dude can hang onto a sword-type, too.

[Nodding but also frowning a bit over here.]

I have trouble with different types. I mean, I think I'm pretty good with pairs that are both swords, but... [He sighs, and it is a frustrated sigh.]

The balance just feels all off if one's a sword and the other's not. Any ideas?

Couple'a things.

Either you gotta train in different combos, or whoever you're workin' with ain't cooperating with each other, makin' that imbalance ya feel.

[He sighs. It's probably the latter.]

So how am I supposed to get two weapons who don't always agree to get along better? I tried telling two of them to spend some time together but I'm pretty sure they are doing their best to avoid each other....

Most any of us can do is give 'em a little space to work their own shit out. Anybody I know?

Do you know Nanami-chan or Shinji?

[How he'd even gotten the proud and stubborn Nanami to agree to resonate with timid Shinji and vice versa was impressive, but the resonance itself had been pretty tricky and way too much work for Takuto to really manage without much help from the weapons.

Takuto's own jealousy of Shinji probably hadn't helped matters much, and Nanami seems to have a knack for pushing all his buttons.]

Dual Resonance Lessons

[Hell yeah he will. Those glasses were slipped on once the students were gathered. He'd never taught anything before, and definitely didn't have the look or demeanor of a teacher.

But he was a Two-Star Meister now, implemented just yesterday. He had to act like one, right? It was time to quit screwin' around and up the ante.]

A'right, punks, listen up! This class is gonna shape shit up and teach ya how ta flex those Meister muscles of yours! Or... soul muscles... tch, whatever. Y'know what I'm talkin' about.

Dual Resonance is rough. Resonating with one Weapon gets pretty heavy, but two can wreck your shit if you dunno what yer doin'. It's the Meister that's gotta balance two souls, all the while ya got two Weapons who gotta learn to work together. Y'know, sharing. Shit ya learn at age four. Anyways.

I got Meisters and Weapons picked out - [He gestured to a small group seated under a nearby tree, and some waved, most of them students of the academy born here in this world.] - some with abilities that make it easier to work with 'em. I want teams'a three squared away before we start. Y'want somebody assigned to you, or you got some questions before we start, talk ta me.

[Yeah... maybe he can pull off this teacher thing!]

[Meenah isn't one who understands the concept of 'sharing' very well... but she figures its the weapons who will be doing the sharing, not her. So really, this is kind of just an excuse to try and hoarde some weapons in reserve just in case.]

How long's it ushoally take to learn somefin like that anywave?

Yup. Lotta Weapons out there who ain't exactly a solo type, like shields n' everything. Gotta think about them, too.

Depends. Gotta have a strong soul for it, since the Meister's gotta balance two souls instead'a one, and that's before ya get two Weapons who can cooperate.

[If anyone's got willpower to spare, it's definitely Meenah.]

An' I'm pretty shore my Weapon now's alright at handlin' otter suckas. So I just gotta find anotter one who won't mind me usin' two weapons, right?

Yup. Lotta Weapons are okay workin' with others, but ya got some who would rather roll solo with their Meisters.

[He inclined his head.]

Ramza, right? He's pretty chill. I resonated with him once or twice; dude's cool as a... sea... cucumber.

Resonance Attack Lessons

...Movin' on. Some'a you didn't come here to learn to juggle Weapons, or some of you guys here are partners who wanna work as a duo. That's fine.

You're here for Resonance Attacks.

Every pair's able to pull one off with perfect resonance, and nothin' less. With that in mind, I don't expect many of you ta pull it off today. Doesn't mean ya suck; it's just a goal ta reach, right?

When they say perfect, they mean perfect: Those little bits of static, that thing you're holdin' back from your partner that makes ya hesitate, that's what's keepin' it from happening. You gotta trust your partner with all ya got, and they trust ya back.

Lemme show ya.

[He's soon joined by his partner who stands a head shorter than him, who in turn tips their cabbie hat in polite greeting to the group. With a nod from the Meister, the two join hands and - after a brief flat stare at whoever the hell just wolf-whistled among the group - the shift takes just a moment; with a blue light, Kanji held the gunblade in one hand.]

This is my partner's Weapon form. Gun-type, trigger, sight, the usual. But if we resonate and clear out all the static...

[He blew out a breath and a wind seemed to kick up, jostling his hair, tossing his jacket, and leaving that faint smell of ozone in the air, dry but sweet. After a moment, it began: The gunblade began to glow and Kanji moved his arm. The weapon seemed to shift, almost melting as it engulfed his arm up to near the elbow. With a small burst of light and a few sparks, that gun became a rather large arm cannon. He gave it a small pat.]

...The Weapon tends to change shape, but not forever- Resonance Attacks are finishing moves. Save 'em for when you got the kishin egg or Witch cornered, and let 'em have it! The attack tends to be somethin' that combines the Meister and the Weapon's powers... and it's flashy as hell!

Megidolaon!

[With that he points his arm straight upward, bracing it with the other hand. With a roar, the cannon fires once in an eruption of light and a low boom, sending a ball of energy hurtling airward. Some distance up, it explodes in a massive corona and a rush of wind, accompanied by the sound of thunder. He slowly lowered his arm, then, and the cannon reverted back entirely to that of a human being.]

Takes a lot of energy to pull it off, so don't miss. ...Any questions?

[Back to normal, Naoto releases a breath. Attacks like that are still draining, but she's been getting much better. Her energy has been increasing more with each corrupted soul collected and training has managed to help her properly utilize that reserve. At least they weren't going to show their students Vopal Blade.]

[Exhaustion aside, she goes back into her flat stare looking into the crowd. Now, to find the idiot who whistled.]

[Akiha is not participating in this class, but it's clear to those observant that she's paying attention out of the way with a thoughtful look on her face.]

[pishirogane]

[Naoto notices Akiha and gets rid of the leer. It wasn't the other girl, but what was that look on her face supposed to mean?]

[ritsu_kouyou]

[A bit distracted by her own thoughts, focusing on replaying the best executed missions her and Sion had, Akiha doesn't notice she's being watched. Her brow furrows and she looks down at her hands for a long moment, fingers flexing, before looking back up toward the class.

And that's when her eyes find Naoto looking her way. Immediately, Akiha's expression reverts to something more guarded more... normal for her.]

[pishirogane]

[Raising a hand to her chin, Naoto took note of the quick change of expression, but didn't comment. She turned and resumed scanning the crowd.]

[Flipping her ponytail back over her shoulder, Akiha moved to a different area and stretched. She was still paying attention, but this time she was able to keep her supposed disinterest and cold exterior up. No need to draw more attention as she listened.]

[scatterflower]

[Chika stared at what had just happened for a moment, before breaking out into a wide grin.]

Wow. That's amazing Kanji! How long did it take for you and Shirogane-san to be able to do that?

[Because holy crap she could just imagine what she and Zero could possibly do with this and they really needed to start working more on training to try to get to this.]

[He couldn't help but puff up his chest a little at that.] Thanks!

It just kinda happened. We were facin' off against these big-ass slug monsters a while back and it just hit me- no more screwin' around. If Naoto's getting stronger, then I better shape the hell up, too!

So that was it. It felt like I had these kinda... walls, or somethin'... that I still had up. I threw 'em down, go this huge punch of energy and then I had this cannon on my arm. Freaked me the hell out- I thought I'd done somethin' bad ta her- so after that mission it was... kinda scary.

That's part'a why I decided to cover this. No more accidents. If we start tappin' into everything we got, then we can start goin' after the Witches for once, instead of havin' 'em wreck our shit all the time!

Oh god. That must've been terrifying to have happen the first time.

[She frowns a bit. Feeling like he still had some walls up. That made a lot of sense.

... Which meant that if complete resonance ever happened for her and Zero, it was likely going to be on Zero's end on when it happened. Not an exciting prospect.]

It's a good thing you're talking about this though. I mean, most of us here never even knew that something like this was possible until now.

The resonance was like a huge rush. I thought maybe my soul wavelength... that it hurt her or somethin'. Weapons don't usually change shape, ya know? S'rare.

That's the other part. If more people know about it, then we get our hands on a little more firepower!

[scatterflower]

Yeah, I know. I mean, I haven't even heard about it before now.

[She pauses for a moment.]

But is it rare even with members of Shibusen, or is it common there because they have a lot more training than we do?
