Time: May 15th, morning

Description: With the riots dying down, Steve wants a little time to draw.


With the people being rescued and the citizens slowly calming down, Steve has started to relax a bit. He'll probably never fully relax, especially in a time of war, but he knows that when there's some available downtime, it's good to take it. Rest up and refocus so that he'll be ready for the next mission or crisis that occurs. Back in WWII, it was a blessing to get a full nights sleep. Although the citizen unrest is not really similar to fighting HYDRA, it was still rather chaotic.

Since morning training is still canceled, Steve has brought his sketchpad with him to an area that's near the top of Shibusen's long stairway. He hasn't really gotten much of a chance to draw Death City from this view, mostly because of other priorities that needed to be taken care of. However, drawing is still one of his favorite hobbies and luckily for him, it's something that he can do in any world well one would hope at least. With a pencil in hand, he flips to a blank page and begins to outline the city below him. It's not a city he is completely familiar with, but it's still something he wants to remember.

Although, his sketchbook is already somewhat filled with pictures of people and places he doesn't want to forget.

John is enjoying the outside air after being cooped up in a cell for a few days. Being up high and feeling the wind blowing through his hair is calming to him, so high places are places he enjoys. He was planning on just sitting somewhere and thinking about things for a bit, and the stairs are pretty high up.

He sees someone else sitting up there but they look busy drawing so he doesn't say anything at first, just sitting down on the steps and looking out at the view quietly.

Steve's been keeping to himself as people pass by him, since he figures that they have places to be. He also wants to concentrate a bit on his drawing, but he's not against talking to someone if they happen to stop by him.

So when John sits nearby, Steve stops scribbling for a moment to look over at him, sending the boy a polite smile. "Good morning. Nice view, isn't it?"

John smiles back and gives a little nod. "Yeah. There aren't any places this high in the town I grew up in."

He can't help but be a little curious. "What are you drawing...?"

"Must've been shocking to see structures reach this high. But glad that you're enjoying the view." Sometimes, it can be really overwhelming. New York had a lot of tall buildings, so it wasn't much of a shock for him. The long staircase is really something though.

At the question, Steve holds up the drawing so that John can see it. He doesn't mind showing his work to others. Well, not this particular drawing at least. "Death City, trying to catch this view into paper."

Lily rarely had reason to climb all the way to the school. (All those cotton-pickin' stairs!) But today, she was going out on a mission to bolster her finances after the shop being closed the past several days.

While it would have made sense to wait for Lezard since he lived next door, the thought of dealing with her annoying sometimes partner while winded from the climb was unappealing. So, she put on the usual plain white dress she wore for casting, slipped on her Keds, and set out early to climb all those stairs.

Spotting someone familiar near the top, she stopped and took a few moments to catch her breath before waving and approaching to say hello.

"Good morning, Steve. What are you working on?" Maybe he was making notes about something?

Upon seeing Lily, Steve puts down his pencil and smiles at her, glad to see that she's doing well. He might not have bought anything at her store yet, but he still enjoyed their conversation. Not everyday he meets someone that appreciate vintage things.

"Good morning, Miss Lily. I'm just drawing Death City, guess you can say that it's one of my hobbies. Didn't get much time to draw with the riots goin' about, but now that they've died down, I thought to take advantage of the downtime."

Steve looks over the city again. "And the view from here is really something, so I wanna try and sketch it."

"Could I see? I wouldn't have guessed you were the artistic type. My assistant back home was going to art school part time." Next to Maya with her blue-tipped hair and Andromeda with her frequent experiments in hair dyeing, Steve would have looked downright conservative!

And she turned to look out over the city, too. "I guess you can see about everything from here, huh? And it's good to see things are getting back to normal. I hope you haven't had too much trouble with the locals?"

"Guess I'm full of surprises." Steve smiles, but he holds out the drawing to her. The picture is quite detailed and accurate, helps that he went to art school until World War II broke out. "But it's just a little something I do when I have the chance. Haven't gone to art school in a while now."

"You sure can." With Shibusen being so high up and in the middle, it's a great spot. "Not too much trouble. Other people were out there as well, trying to help and settle the riots down. Did they give you any trouble?"

Giroro was heading up to Shibusen this morning to check out the mission board. Even though he didn't have a partner, it never hurt to be aware of what was out there.

He was paused and blinked when he saw someone he recognized sitting near the top.

Giroro saluted. "Good morning, Captain."

Steve looks up from his drawing, giving a quick salute back to Giroro. It's nice to see the Corporal again, especially alive and well. Strangely enough or not strangely at all, he gets along with Giroro more so than some other people. But he's always happy to talk with a fellow officer, even if they are from different planets.

"Good morning, Corporal. Were you headed somewhere?"

"I wanted to take a look at the mission board." He was starting to run out of money for groceries and he didn't want to accept handouts from Shibusen.

On his end, Giroro just liked talking to Steve because he was one of the few people who actually took him seriously.

"Heading right back into missions, huh?" But Steve really respects that. "Planning on fighting more Kishin Eggs?" Fighting and stopping more of those guys before they harm others.

He's always been the type to root for the little guy.

Hyoubu didn't come to Shibusen often. Occasionally though, he'd come to visit the library. One should stay well informed after all. Besides, he was interested to see how this world's history differed from his own. He was just exiting Shibusen when he spotted Steve from behind.

He walked over and leaned over to look at what he was...ah, was he drawing.

"I didn't peg you as the artistic type."

Steve doesn't hide his drawing, but he does turn his head a bit to look at Hyoubu. He's actually a little surprised to see him here, but he doesn't dwell on that. People probably go into Shibusen every so often at least.

"Just a little something I do on the side." Which is true, especially after joining the army. He was in art school for a while, but that all changed when the United States joined World War II. "Wanted to memorize this view, keep it close."

He wouldn't be here if it weren't for the library. Even if there were interesting people to bother there was no one in this city worth the effort of coming all the way up here.

"I imagine it would be creepy to open that when you get back home and find a drawing you don't remember doing in there."

Steve should really delve more into the library himself. But it's a little frustrating when some parts are still restricted from him. Guess he'll think more on that later though.

"People always lose their memories of Death City when they return home?" It wouldn't be surprising, with how BREW is. If that's the case, he should draw more, he doesn't want to completely forget everything.

Shibusen was located at the center of the city. For someone with a wide range of vision, it was an ideal location to watch everything from. But from such a height, no one really needed special eyes to see everything. It was comforting in a way.

"From today, a lot of things will change..." Today, he'd seize command of the Watch and begin to pull the organization back together. It'd be a lot of work he never intended to tackle, but he'd manage it.

Glancing down, Neji caught sight of someone above Shibusen's steps, and leaped down from the spire. Steve Rogers, he saw now that he moved closer. He was.. drawing? Interesting.

Comparing the view with the picture, he could already see it taking a definitive, accurate shape.

"I occasionally wish I was gifted with such artistic ability."

Steve looks back at Neji when he hears his comment, smiling a little upon seeing the young, but capable Watch member. It's probably the first time that they have spoken when Watch things aren't involved... or while at training. But it's nice, really.

"It's just somethin' I do whenever I have spare time." Which isn't that often. "But thank you." Drawing is one of the things Steve is kinda proud of, but he doesn't go out of his way to brag or anything.

"Up here to enjoy the sights? Get your thoughts in order?"

He nods, glancing back out at the city. "I've always been able to see everything," he offers after a moment. "My vision is more restricted here, but even I can be placated with a view like this."

He tips his head with a hint of a smile, arms folding behind his back. "I wonder if it's possible to draw a city you've never seen."

Keroro is just heading back from an early morning chore-trip that included returning overdue books at Shibusen and buying croissants for Eve's breakfast when he notices the person sitting near the top of the needlessly (in his opinion) long stairway. Out of curiosity, he ventures nearer for a better look,

"Wow...you're really good at drawing, de arimasu."

Steve turns to look at Keroro, only looking surprised for a few seconds at his appearance. Of course he knows Corporal Giroro, but he hasn't seen that many other alien frogs in Death City. However, Steve politely smiles at him, hoping that he hasn't been rude.

"Thank you, it's just a little hobby I do on my spare time. But the perspective this view gives has been something I've been meaning to outline."

Keroro notices the surprise, but it's a reaction he gets a lot from the people he's met in Death City and he doesn't think too much on it. He returns Steve's smile with one of his own, before he looks out at the view he's sketching, "The view here is great, isn't it, de arimasu? It almost makes it worth climbing up here sometimes, de arimasu."

It wasn't long since Fon's own morning routine had ended, and he had decided to go have a look around town after his morning meditation. He was just coming up the stairs when he noticed the stranger that was sitting with a sketchbook. He don't want to disturb, though, because he doesn't not know if the person has full attention on the sketching or not - he has startled fully focused people before, and it happens they get less happy at him for it, since he's good at sneaking up on people. After a little while, though, he heads over to the sketcher because curiosity is something he has a hard time pushing aside.

Steve doesn't mind talking to people at all, even when he's drawing like this. He can always resume later and it would be rude to ignore someone that's trying to speak with him. So, when Fon starts to walk over to his spot, Steve stops and turns a little to look at him.

"Good morning. Here for the view?" It seems that others enjoy being up here too.

He smiles, and comes up closer. "I'm actually exploring, but the veiw is quite remarkable."
