[open] sketching from a view
Characters: Steve Rogers and OPEN
Location: Near the top of Shibusen's stairs, so like this.
Rating: PG
Time: May 15th, morning
Description: With the riots dying down, Steve wants a little time to draw.
With the people being rescued and the citizens slowly calming down, Steve has started to relax a bit. He'll probably never fully relax, especially in a time of war, but he knows that when there's some available downtime, it's good to take it. Rest up and refocus so that he'll be ready for the next mission or crisis that occurs. Back in WWII, it was a blessing to get a full nights sleep. Although the citizen unrest is not really similar to fighting HYDRA, it was still rather chaotic.
Since morning training is still canceled, Steve has brought his sketchpad with him to an area that's near the top of Shibusen's long stairway. He hasn't really gotten much of a chance to draw Death City from this view, mostly because of other priorities that needed to be taken care of. However, drawing is still one of his favorite hobbies and luckily for him, it's something that he can do in any world
Although, his sketchbook is already somewhat filled with pictures of people and places he doesn't want to forget.

Eventually, he responds again, deciding to at least tell her a little. Steve doesn't think Lily will spread the information around here that much anyway. "Science, actually. That was the cause."

"Science? Do you mean something like genetic engineering? But things weren't that advanced in the 1940s. At least, not in my world."
no subject
"That technology did exist in the 1940s, at least in my version of Earth. Definitely wasn't common though, I was the only United States soldier to be tested on. They basically injected a serum in me that boosted my physical capabilities." Steve smiles a little again. "Probably sounds like something out of a movie now."
no subject
"If you were the only one, was this some secret experiment? And why did they choose you?" With Steve's claim that he was the only soldier for this serum to be tested on, Lily had to wonder a bit about the ethics of this experiment.

He still owes a lot to Dr. Erskine, especially since he couldn't save him. "Well, the lead scientist thought I had somethin'. Used to be small before the serum, so he said that we needed a little guy that understood the value of strength." Steve rubs the back of his head. "But I'm not anyone special, really."

"They made comic books and movies about you? That does sound a bit overboard." Still, it sounded as if he hadn't let the attention go to his head.
"But surely they would have kept records if it was a important experiment and there was a whole team working on it?" Her expression is a bit puzzled as she wonders how the formula could have been lost. She would have thought folks trying to concoct such a thing would have made notes, maybe even multiple copies.
no subject
"Well, only the lead scientist knew the exact formula and he was assassinated shortly after my transformation." He's a little quiet, still remembering that day all too clearly. "People in my time are trying to replicate it still."
no subject
"There were no notes or anything left? It sure sounds elusive." She reckoned must have been extremely complicated if people were still unsuccessfully trying to duplicate it over six decades later.
no subject
"Think there were some notes, but they weren't enough. I was a little surprised that they were still trying to recreate even after all this time." Although Bruce was supposedly trying to recreate it and it didn't work out so well for him. "Thought with how much things have changed, they'd focused their efforts on somethin' else."
