Characters: The Watch & OPEN to everyone
Location: Death City
Time: May 10th-13th
Rating: PG-13 for now
Warnings: Potential violence
Summary: The city is in chaos and the Watch is trying to do their job, but it's a little more than they can handle on their own.

The civilians have taken to the streets in a formal march of protest, holding signs both insulting and critical; some simply vulgar while others call for action- for change. They come from everywhere and don't stop until they reach Shibusen's stairs to rally with a growing mob of protesters. Shibusen agents gifted with Calming Wavelength stand by to allow attempts at mediation, but while they aren't violent, the protesters remain unyielding in their convictions.

In other parts of the city, trouble-makers work tirelessly to disrupt or sabotage businesses, paint graffiti over any untouched wall of known guest establishments, and harass the unusual-looking passerby. Don't go out alone, or you might find yourself cornered by these troublemakers with unpredictable temperaments.

The Watch is on the move in every district, working to protect its citizens and try their hand at peacemaking, but they're stretched pretty thin...

"Break it up!"

How many times had Auron had to say that today? Either because of his permanent scowl or the giant pig sticker on his back, he'd been able to get people to stop causing trouble.

He couldn't do it forever though. Someone was going to cause enough trouble and start a fight like at the Agency the other day.

Flying around the city for most of the day was sure to put a toll on anyone, even if he was a super-SOLDIER. It just happened to be a little worse for Genesis since he had his wing hurt during the scruffle at the Agency.

At certain times throughout the day, he'll be spending time in the Watch HQ-- delivering reports from the Agency and taking a bit of much needed rest from using his still-aching wing. Since it's too much of a bother to tuck that hurt wing away, it'll be out while he's indoors, tucked close against his body.

Hope you don't mind a few large black feathers here and there.

Going to work isn't much of an option right now. People in the clinic are understandably too weak to protest. Those who do have Rosalia and CR-S01, two of the most mild-mannered and polite medics the goddess could work with. They'll power through the anger together and make sure people are cared for despite their ill words.

Honestly, Amaterasu didn't want to involve herself in this matter of riots and protests because it was silly they got so out of hand. Humans who feared became angry and continued on from their. They turned that anger against the people who protected them who, beyond resonance giving them the ability to fight Kishin eggs, were still only 'human' in the sense. It was utterly shameful behavior and she expected better of them.

Right now, she sat with a group of protesters who have calmed down. Unfortunately for them, she has no human tongue in their form and cannot communicate with them easily. Should they open their mouth and the goddess sense anger, she glared in their direction fiercely and made them sit again with a paw. Seriously, now was the time they had to sit and think about what they were doing.

Well, damn, Chika knew things were going to be crazy when she volunteered to help out... hell, that was why she volunteered to help out in the first place.

But she hadn't expected to be so tired out because of it. Hence why Chika's head was now pressed up against a table as she tried to relax just a teeny tiny bit before she needed to go back out there and help keep the riots under control.

Hopefully Zero wouldn't laugh at her if he came walking by.

Both Keroro and Eve will be replying. Hope that's all right.

Things really had gotten rather crazy. Luckily, the Kero-Ball could create weapons that were meant to subdue and not kill or wound. It was a small blessing at least.

Eve, with Keroro at her side, spotted a familiar white figure. She looked to Keroro for a second, "Should we go over to see if she needs help?"

Keroro has also spotted Amaterasu, thankfully recognizable as herself and not just a large dog. He gives an enthusiastic nod and starts heading in her direction, "Let's go, de arimasu!"

The goddess huffed and remained watching the protesters... well, they're more like children in timeout now. When they noticed Keroro and Eve approaching, a few begin to stand, but Amaterasu growled a displeased warning. They have five more minutes before they can go anywhere; do they want to lengthen that time?

She glanced over at the two when they get closer and nodded a greeting with a small grin.

She had hoped things would settle down, but sadly, it was not to be. Still, she tried to keep things under control as best she could.

Sadly, Aqua's build wasn't exactly what you would call intimidating. She had managed to keep people from causing trouble so far, but it was only a matter of time someone worked up the nerve to challenge her.

At the moment, she had a group of protesters trying to corner her. Her eyes narrowed and her voice when she spoke was cold, "I'm giving you one more chance to surrender peacefully." It was different than when she was a Keyblade Master. She was expected not to fight first and ask questions later.

In response, one of the protesters just sneered. "And what are you going to do if we don't?"

Eve nodded and followed behind Keroro. It looked to Eve like Amaterasu had everything under control, though.

"Hello." Eve returned the nod and the grin with her own greeting.

The rash of network activity about missing persons had made Mello check up on the people he cared about, and the fact that Matt had proved nowhere to be found had him bristling with hostility and frustrated worry. He'd been searching for his best friend ever since realizing he was gone, and he was spoiling for a fight.

It looked like he was about to get one.

He'd come upon a group of thugs spray-painting anti-Shibusen graffiti on a storefront, three of them, who clearly liked their odds against someone who weighed about half what any one of them did.

Mello smirked at them as he could see their tiny collective brain come to its conclusion about whether to run or put up a fight. Just what I need. Bring it.

The hostility in the City was overwhelming today, and Audrey hurried along through the mall, wondering why she had bothered to leave the apartment at all.

Oh right, she thought as she hung a sharp left, dodging through the crowd of locals - who were already eyeing her a bit more than she liked. We need bread. And as far as she knew, Dwight was out fixing things.

She needed the exercise anyway. Her ankle was better, but it was still a little weak, and she needed to work it to make it strong again. Suddenly, right when she was approaching the grocery store, someone bumped her - hard - and because her ankle wasn't quite to the point where it should have been, it gave out beneath her, sending her knocked over into a couple other people to her right. The bump jostled her bad arm, and she hissed loudly, scrunching up her face as she tried to get her footing back.

But it was no use; whoever she had been knocked into shoved her away, yelling "Hey, watch where you're going!"

Finally she caught her balance, but the damage was already done. She turned and looked at the civilian who had pushed her back with wide eyes, lips parted a little as her mind raced. "I'm sorry, I didn't-"

Right then someone else knocked her bad arm, and she doubled over, clutching it to her torso as she tried to remain calm. The crowd was quickly becoming overwhelming, and she had lost much of her momentum. She wasn't in the right headspace to use her ability, so she just started backing up, making sure to hold onto her arm as she turned to leave before the situation got worse than it already had.

[Alphonse has been making it his business to deal with the younger upstarts who seem to think writing rude things in colorful colors all over the the sides of Death City Heights and Creeping Crypts.

Needless to say most of them run screaming when they catch site of his towering seven foot tall metal form. Those who are dumb enough to linger get a good smack upside their head, but thankfully most flee in terror leave peacefully.

So in his off time, Alphonse has a pile of cleaning supplies strewn about the ground and is making use of a tall mop and a strong detergent to remove the paint the old fashion way. Alchemy sure would come in handy right now.]

Ever since the discovery of sudden missing individuals, Kotetsu had tried to busy himself with searching the city from top to bottom as best he could, especially with the civilians as riled up as ever, even a little more-so. Being outdoors for longer than a few minutes seemed to prove to be a huge task, and before he could find himself getting into another unreasonable argument with a disgruntled person on the streets, Kotetsu had decided to move his search to where it would hopefully provide better results, and that was the Watch headquarters.

But then, of all the things he was hoping to find, stray feathers wasn't one of them. As two drifted on past him, Kotetsu paused, watching them flutter to the ground with a confused glance. "Did things get bad enough that actual feathers are flying now?"

He normally thought of himself as a (relatively) rational and calm person, but Gray had already been very much tempted to give several of the more outraged protesters a piece of his mind with his fists. The fact was that they were only ordinary citizens though, and technically, they weren't doing anything wrong yet, even if he'd had to warn the protesters many times from getting too near any of the guest-businesses or guest-dominated buildings.

Suddenly, a crash. "Hey!" Gray snapped, striding towards one particular crowd that had been getting on his last nerve. A large crack was present across the glass door of one of the stores, apparently as a result of a heavy looking rock lying nearby. "I told you to knock it off already! That's the sort of stuff that'll get your asses thrown in jail!"

Steve has been trying to coordinate with police officers to help bring down the chaos, but it seems that only so much can be done. Unrest is at an all time high with no sign of it stopping. However, he's not one to give up, and Steve's currently in his designated area by himself, attempting to stop some of the protesters from further destroying one of the shops.

He luckily has a shield on him, using that and his stature to stop the attacks on the business. He isn't attacking back, however, just trying to disperse the crowd with his words. Steve probably could knock them out, but that isn't something he really wants to do.

"These businesses have a right to sell in Death City. I'm not gonna move from here until you guys disperse."

But Steve walks over to him, for once being shorter than someone. Huh. Haven't felt that in a while.]

[ Yuri had done his best to not get directly involved with the citizens of the city, but the worse the unrest got, the harder it became to ignore. And when they filled the streets in protest today, Yuri decided he was in no position to stand back anymore. It wouldn't sit right with him if he just sat back while things got out of hand.

He chose the financial district. He already knew about the acts of vandalism and scare tactics used in that area. He had a feeling today was just going to be worse. His guess was correct enough, the protesters attempting to damage one of the shops. From where he stood, he could make out a man with a shield, trying to non-violently hold them back, his words audible to Yuri from where he stood. He had to applaud him for not fighting back, given the treatment he was currently receiving. Yuri knew fighting back would just escalate things worse, either way.

Sword in hand, but still in it's sheath, Yuri stood, contemplating his next course of action. Getting through the crowd would likely just start a fight, but he couldn't help the man much from where he stood. He needed a way to get to where he was.

With a sprint, Yuri headed for a nearby building, jumping straight for it. With push, he carried himself to another spot over the crowd, pushing off once more to land himself not much farther from the man. A little more showy than he would have liked, but he didn't have much of a choice.

He stood, sword sheathed in hand, in a defensive position, to keep them from advancing. Unlike the man, Yuri knew he didn't really have much of a way with words, and refrained from saying anything to the crowd itself. Instead, he turned towards him.
]

Tough crowd, huh? [ He tried to say with a smirk, though he understood how serious the situation was. He kept his position, giving a slight push when needed whenever a protestor tried to get through. ]

There was at least one member of the Watch for whom it was largely business as usual. Not that he had to be happy about it. Recent injuries and the very recent departure of his partner Gamzee via BREW had left him utterly unfit for anything resembling battle. So, effectively, he was benched.

L was taking it "easy"... by covering for both himself and the absent Yuri at HQ. Every now and then he whirled through the break room like a scrawny hurricane, refilling his coffee and seizing another plate of sugary calories. That's probably where you saw him, if you did; otherwise his darkened office was where he spent most of his time, earpiece firmly in place and eyes riveted to his surveillance screens.

The financial district was Nanami's domain, or so she liked to think so. She and Hanabi had once stopped a couple guy from robbing the ATM nearby but Hanabi had stopped coming to work and there had been no word from her. It wasn't like her at all, so Nanami had put two and two together a while ago. It had been a no fuss no muss partnership and Nanami was already irritable from losing that and forcing herself to take up some extra shifts when she could be relaxing or doing other things.

She saw the people complaining as ungrateful louses and had to hold herself back from beating the crap out of a few and she didn't need her weapon form to do it either. Nanami's build didn't indicate a lot of strength but her icy glare and confidence more than made up for it. It might have been any combination of that that had kept her in one piece so far.

Spotting a possible disturbance ahead, Nanami approached it from the side. "Right, right, keep moving people," her voice was filled with annoyance and she shooed some people on the fringes aside while trying to see who they all had been looking at.

It didn't take Chika that long to come across some problems that needed to be taken care of, though she had managed well enough so far. But still, this was ridiculous and they really shouldn't need to worry about stuff like this going on. This was within Death City, the citizens weren't who they were supposed to be fighting.

But once she saw Aqua starting to get cornered, Chika couldn't help but clench her fists. Especially once she heard what that last person said.

So yeah, time for storming up to near her friend. "I think a bigger question is this. Do you guys really want to find out?"
