Description: Another small BREW hiccup results in another "round" of unexpected newcomers into the city.

Just like last time, a very small group of individuals has appeared within Death City, and just like last time, no one even knew about it. Fortunately things have been relatively calm these past few days and it's an especially warm day today, so at least any impromptu help and touring should go smoothly.

[ooc: Just like last time, this is a consolidated log for the volunteer intro buddy system. Either the new character or the volunteer can start the thread. For each thread, indicate the character names in the subject line. Whether or not another character is pulled in is up to the players, BUT the threads are closed to the initial partnered characters (hence the "semi-closed" label.

The new characters are also free to start a thread with one another if they so wish.]

There are Death Gods in this world and Witches with animal familiars. Also, the Kishin eggs and Madness Wavelength... People brought here can't use their powers from home and become Meisters and Weapons instead. It's nothing like home...

[he frowns and shakes his head, raising his arms in that universal gesture for "seriously stop right now".]

What does any of this have to do with me? You can't really just take away all my powers and expect me to be helpful in some war. Besides, isn't war kind of an "adult" problem? This isn't exactly my jurisdiction.

You don't have to help fight. I mainly work at the clinic...

[She taps her feet nervously] And... adults aren't the ones really fighting it. I'm not really the best one to explain this.

[wow, if there was ever a statement to instantly rile him up...]

You're not having kids fight in some war.

It's a decision made by each Guest. I don't actually know anyone from here that's a kid fighting... Most of us are teenagers.

[Though, now she has to think. What is the age of the youngest Guest?]

That's still way too young! I mean, come on, plenty of kids play at being superheroes and fighting bad guys and stuff, but that doesn't mean you let them do it! We're supposed to be protecting them!

[and yeah, maybe it's still a little raw a wound that he'd had to let jamie and his friends help them against pitch, even if they had all that belief and wonder and whatnot keeping them safe. even if they can do something and they want to, it doesn't mean he's ever gonna be okay with the idea of putting them in harm's way.]

'We're'--? I'm still not Mother Nature...

[She sighs, shaking her head] Fighting and working at the clinic are the only ways I can help. Those Kishin eggs attack innocent people and eat their souls!

I... I mean adults in general, okay? [he totally counts as an adult.] If you wanna help them, fine, but why don't they just send the kids back? And they can just send me back too, 'cause I have a job to do now, and it's got nothing to do with this place or this Kid guy or his Witches or whatever!

Because they can't fight!

[She doesn't think she counts as an adult. And he doesn't look like an adult to her]

BREW doesn't work like that. It might send you back and it might not. Where ever it brought you from, it will send you back to that exact point. It will do this all randomly until the War's over and I don't want to go home...!

[hey, he's 318, that's more than adult. and the whole guardian title has to count for something too.]

Look, you can do whatever you want. Stay and help, or go home, or whatever. But they can't just grab whoever they want and keep them here.

[it kind of feels like he's upsetting her, though, and now he feels like the bad guy. so he just sighs and pulls his hood up, turning back to face the window like it'll make the sun go down any faster.]

...You said I wasn't the only one, right? That the others would have been brought here too? So where are they? [maybe one of them could make sense of all this.]

[Ugh, she's just frustrated and frazzled and why did BREW bring new people without warning them again? Rosalia takes a breath and fiddles with her ribbon, feeling guilty when he pulls his hood up]

I know. It's wrong, but there's really nothing to do about it. And I'm really sorry about yelling. I shouldn't do that with new people, but I've never helped anyone that just arrived. It's a bit overwhelming.

[At least he's still talking to her]

The other Guests are around the City, most of them staying in Casualty Communal unless they have a partner because then they're in Death City Heights. Creeping Crypts is currently housing refugees.

...It's not your fault, okay?

[he doesn't turn back to her, but a bit of the tension seems to ease out of his shoulders.]

So is that the place you were planning on bringing me to before?

... Well, it is a little.

[Still, no more pout party]

Mhm! You'll be given a communicator so you can speak to the other Guests once we get there and a room to stay in. Ah! I still have to get those shoes for you so you can walk there! Or, now that I think about it, do you want sandals instead?

[he looks down at his feet at the suggestion, flexing his toes and grimacing at the very idea of them being smothered in a pair of shoes.]

Yeah, sandals might be a better idea. Thanks.

Okay!

[She's managing a small smile now that they're on a different subject.] I'll get right on that, but in the meantime, stay cool and don't stare at the sun too long. It might stare back...

[She needs to call her brother and tell him about the abrupt change. He should be able to handle running things today.]

Yeah, I was wondering about that. [the sun, that is.] Is that, uh...is that normal here?

Yeah. The moon does it, too.

[There's a nervous laugh... she sleeps with the blinds closed.]

[Almost ready to head outside, she pauses to look back at him] Oh. It's a little rude now, but what's your name?

[wow, he does not want to think about the implications for the man in the moon here, if that's true.]

Oh, I'm Jack Frost. And...thanks, again.

[She's not about to mention it's terrible dental hygiene.]

Nice to meet you, Jack. And you're welcome. I'll be back at sundown so don't do anything silly until then!

[She runs out and begins heading down the flight of stairs. Yeah, she can do this! How hard can it be to find sandals in-- what color did he want? Drat.]

[oh god, the very idea of it would make him wince if only in anticipation of a rant from tooth.

but yeah, for now he just sits himself down on the floor by the main entrance. mischief and silliness were definitely to be expected from him normally, but the heat and the whole situation just made him feel drained.]

[As she said, Rosalia is returning as the sun sets in the horizon. It's much cooler than it was earlier, making the hike up the stairs a little more bearable. Go up them once a day and that's usually enough, but she said she would. Surprisingly, it took a while to find sandals that Jack might like and a shirt for him to wear that would be loose enough.]

[Panting, she hurries into Shibusen]

Jack! I'm back!

[he's right where she left him, albeit a bit more curled up and dozed off. the sound of his name rouses him, however, and he sits up a bit straighter as she enters, pushing his hood back and smothering a yawn.]

Hey, that was fast.

[She shakes her head]

It's been several hours. Have you been sleeping this whole time? [She holds out the box to him with the folded shirt on top]

[he shrugs, but the motion is turned into a stretch halfway through.]

I guess? It's just so warm here...

[even if it has gotten somewhat cooler by now, with the sun dipping toward the horizon, it's still nowhere near the icy chill he normally carried with him. he accepts the box with a grateful smile, already shaking the folded shirt out with one hand and tugging his sweatshirt off with the other.]

Jack, this is a little concerning. I mean, it's only April right now here. The summer months will be starting soon.

[Politely, she looks away as he gets dressed even if its just a shirt. Rosalia will have to put him on alert for Heat Stroke and Hyperthermia...]
