Description: Another small BREW hiccup results in another "round" of unexpected newcomers into the city.

Just like last time, a very small group of individuals has appeared within Death City, and just like last time, no one even knew about it. Fortunately things have been relatively calm these past few days and it's an especially warm day today, so at least any impromptu help and touring should go smoothly.

[ooc: Just like last time, this is a consolidated log for the volunteer intro buddy system. Either the new character or the volunteer can start the thread. For each thread, indicate the character names in the subject line. Whether or not another character is pulled in is up to the players, BUT the threads are closed to the initial partnered characters (hence the "semi-closed" label.

The new characters are also free to start a thread with one another if they so wish.]

[There's a nervous laugh... she sleeps with the blinds closed.]

[Almost ready to head outside, she pauses to look back at him] Oh. It's a little rude now, but what's your name?

[snowman]

[wow, he does not want to think about the implications for the man in the moon here, if that's true.]

Oh, I'm Jack Frost. And...thanks, again.

[bloodinbloom]

[She's not about to mention it's terrible dental hygiene.]

Nice to meet you, Jack. And you're welcome. I'll be back at sundown so don't do anything silly until then!

[She runs out and begins heading down the flight of stairs. Yeah, she can do this! How hard can it be to find sandals in-- what color did he want? Drat.]

[oh god, the very idea of it would make him wince if only in anticipation of a rant from tooth.

but yeah, for now he just sits himself down on the floor by the main entrance. mischief and silliness were definitely to be expected from him normally, but the heat and the whole situation just made him feel drained.]

[bloodinbloom]

[As she said, Rosalia is returning as the sun sets in the horizon. It's much cooler than it was earlier, making the hike up the stairs a little more bearable. Go up them once a day and that's usually enough, but she said she would. Surprisingly, it took a while to find sandals that Jack might like and a shirt for him to wear that would be loose enough.]

[Panting, she hurries into Shibusen]

Jack! I'm back!

[snowman]

[he's right where she left him, albeit a bit more curled up and dozed off. the sound of his name rouses him, however, and he sits up a bit straighter as she enters, pushing his hood back and smothering a yawn.]

Hey, that was fast.

[bloodinbloom]

[She shakes her head]

It's been several hours. Have you been sleeping this whole time? [She holds out the box to him with the folded shirt on top]

[snowman]

[he shrugs, but the motion is turned into a stretch halfway through.]

I guess? It's just so warm here...

[even if it has gotten somewhat cooler by now, with the sun dipping toward the horizon, it's still nowhere near the icy chill he normally carried with him. he accepts the box with a grateful smile, already shaking the folded shirt out with one hand and tugging his sweatshirt off with the other.]

[bloodinbloom]

Jack, this is a little concerning. I mean, it's only April right now here. The summer months will be starting soon.

[Politely, she looks away as he gets dressed even if its just a shirt. Rosalia will have to put him on alert for Heat Stroke and Hyperthermia...]

[snowman]

[he changes without really thinking about her presence -- he'd gone a long time without having to worry about anyone seeing him like that, after all -- but he turns a curious stare on her as he finishes pulling the new shirt over his head.]

Only April? Seriously? Wow, this place just gets worse and worse. [he seems to be in somewhat better humor now after a nap, though, and he just shrugs again.] But it's nothing to be worried about. I mean, I'm Jack Frost. It's not exactly a surprise that I don't handle heat very well.

[bloodinbloom]

[The humor in his voice makes her wonder if the heats already affecting him, but she digresses. If he's able to joke lightly about it, that's a good thing.]

Right. I'm sure you'll figure something out to counter the heat or someone will have a suggestion.

[snowman]

[he's about to say that it'll be fine, he just needs to find his staff, but then she had said that all powers didn't work here, didn't she? that was a little more disconcerting, because really, what was he supposed to do in the middle of the summer in a desert if he couldn't even cool himself down?

he maintains his grin, however, confident that he could figure something out and not wanting to worry her more.]

Hey, I can't be the only one here who likes it a bit chillier, right? It'll all work out.

[bloodinbloom]

Yeah!

[She wants to suggest the wolf she works with because she seems fluffy and built for cold climates, but she's always sleeping in the sunlight.]

About the sandals, I didn't know what kind you would want, but I tried to find a pair that didn't cover so much. They didn't have much in terms of color, but they should fit.

[snowman]

Do I really look like someone who cares about fashion? It's fine.

[and a plain brown pair of flip flops suits him fine anyway, as far as shoes go. he slips them on and they're slightly too big on him, but it's a layer between his soles and the hot pavement and that's all he cares about.]

They're great. Thanks, seriously.

[bloodinbloom]

Hehe.

[Yeah, he probably doesn't care, but she at least tried to get him something comfortable. No way she was going to be accurate about the size without him, but at least they're wearable. Rosalia is beaming]

So, did you want to show me this apartment building now?

[glancing outside, there's still a little light to see by peeking over the edge of the horizon, but he majority of the sky is dark and without the sun's intense heat.]

[bloodinbloom]

Sure! This way!

[Just have to go down the large flight of stairs and cut through a district or two. She takes the lead, a little more bounce to her step.]

[even in the heat, his movements are airy and fearless, like he expects the wind to just pick him up at any moment and carry him the rest of the way. he descends down the steps two or three steps at a time, surefooted as a mountain goat, and he doesn't even stumble when their path turns away from the stairs and into the city proper.

and for all that he's been badmouthing the city, he's at least entertaining himself with sightseeing throughout the trip. it's the most uniquely formatted city he's ever seen (and he's been all over the world), and the moon starting to peek up over the opposite horizon is equally hilarious and creepy.]

[The first view is always the best. It's a matter of finding another view later is the trick. Rosalia keeps to the shortest path, but once Jack gets a map, he'll be able to explore on his own. Hopefully, he's careful during the evening.]

[When they reach Casualty Communal, she glances back] Here we are. [And into the building she steps. She doesn't mind waiting if he decided to look it over from the outside.]

[snowman]

[he gives it a quick look over, but by this point he's too eager for at least some air conditioning so he hurries inside after her.]

So, what, do I just start knocking on doors until I find an empty room or someone I know?

[bloodinbloom]

[She laughs a bit]

No. Besides, you might make one of the Guests mad. We'll just ask at the front for the listing. They'll give you a communicator too.

[snowman]

Communicator?

[wow you shouldn't have said that, now he has to go around knocking on doors at some point. it can be like large-scale ding song ditch.]

It's how you reach the network and other Guests.

[She reaches into her back and pulls out her own. Still not helping with that Nature theme since her communicator is covered in monarch butterflies.] You'll get a manual to learn how to use it properly, but it has a map and everything to help you get around Death City.

[snowman]

We get apartments and handhelds too? It kinda sounds like they're just trying to bribe people to stay and help.

[he seems pretty interested in the communicator though, hands fluttering over it like he wants to play wih it but he's just barely polite enough to not just grab someone else's toy.]

You wouldn't be the only one to think that. It's really Shibusen apologizing for randomly dragging us here. They weren't expecting this to happen either so they provide housing and the basics. There are apartments that we can pay for, but they want us to have stable jobs before then.

[She stands at the front desk and nods to the person at the front] Uh huh. Oh, how many did BREW bring? Guess that's why we didn't know...

[The room listing is placed on the counter along with Jack's own communicator and its manual.]
