Yes I did. He thought it would be in my best interests.
comradery: (guess what)

[personal profile] comradery 2012-10-22 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Hm. You weren't ever afraid of holding a gun?
comradery: (don't worry)

[personal profile] comradery 2012-10-22 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, so you were a natural then, I take? Well, that would certainly explain why you're instructing here. [Hughes chuckles.] Assuming you age the same way as people from my world, I'd never picked up a gun until I was around the age you are now.

No, it's a family custom when one begins their training.
comradery: (come again?)

[personal profile] comradery 2012-10-22 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
...so you had problems when you started?

Any child would have initial difficulty using a gun. If not aiming, then pulling the trigger.
comradery: (hrm)

[personal profile] comradery 2012-10-22 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
And recoil, too. Mm. Yeah, you're right. I suppose I was assuming you may have started with something simpler like a spud gun or pellet gun first.

Do you enjoy doing what you do? Solving cases and shooting guns and such. [He has to wonder since it seems the lifestyle was forced on Naoto.]
pishirogane: (Perhaps you could explain)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-10-22 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
I rarely use my gun, but I do enjoy solving cases. The gun is to serve as self-defense and injury dealt is meant to be non-lethal.
comradery: (sup)

[personal profile] comradery 2012-10-22 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. A well meaning detective! I like that! Unfortunately, in my own case, though I would have preferred that to be the situation, if I had encountered anyone I would have had to draw my weapon on back home, I would likely have had no choice but to shoot to kill. However, it was likely due to the type of cases I worked, so I guess choosing not to switch divisions was my own fault. [Though if he had, he would not have been able to help Roy.]

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-10-22 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Hm, cases where they had no choice, but to kill should the situation come to it. Not a simple police detective. The build and when he began to handle a gun say something else.]

... Military?
comradery: (don't worry)

[personal profile] comradery 2012-10-22 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Hughes chuckled.] Brilliantly deduced, though the military was more or less the government in my country, so you could consider my position governmental as well.
pishirogane: (Cool stare)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-10-22 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
I see... There tends to be little negotiation in such governance.
comradery: (guess what)

[personal profile] comradery 2012-10-22 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Hehe. Unfortunately, no. [Hughes smiles sheepishly.] It wasn't that bad, though. For the average citizen, anyway.

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-10-22 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
Then I worry about your well being and Mustang-san's for not being average citizens.

[She shakes her head] You probably came over not expecting to dwell into this subject. I will refrain from further inquiry and investigation for now lest you wish to continue; otherwise, feel free to change the subject.
comradery: (heh)

[personal profile] comradery 2012-10-22 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Hehe. Well, honestly, it's already a bit too late for me. Roy on the other hand... [Hughes shrugs.] It's fine. I don't really mind, actually. If you'd prefer we switch a subject, that'd be all right, though.
pishirogane: ([Chibi] Urr...)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-10-22 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
[... Mental note: talking to a dead man.]

It's your decision really. I'm attempting to better my social skills still, but unfortunately, I fall back into interrogations and tend to come across as... unsympathetic.
comradery: (cheer up)

[personal profile] comradery 2012-10-22 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
[Hughes laughs shortly.]

Well, I don't know how well I could help your social skills since I'm one of the most obliging when it comes to conversation. I suppose in general, it'd be inappropriate to discuss that stuff, though. At least, a lot of people don't like touching politics because things can get heated fairly quickly.

Let's see...what's a better topic... [Hughes taps his chin lightly.] Do you have any hobbies outside of work?
pishirogane: (Perhaps you could explain)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-10-22 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed. I'd rather avoid such discussions myself.

Hobbies... reading and mechanics.
comradery: (yes yes)

[personal profile] comradery 2012-10-22 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
You should say that next time then, hehe.

Reading? What genre? Mystery? [He chuckles faintly.]

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-10-22 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
It seems to be a quick way to get enemies here. That's all.

Mystery, non-fiction... there have been a few science fiction novels... [More than.]
comradery: (yo)

[personal profile] comradery 2012-10-22 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, that's true. It's a sensitive issue especially because there are so many people from so many different places.

Science fiction, huh? I've read a few of those myself. I don't suppose the science fiction in my world quite matches that of what's in this world though. Is the technology where you're from similar to the technology here?

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-10-22 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
That and the country we are currently located in tends to be a mixing pot of ideas for various reasons.

It is. However, overall, it's a few years behind. The communicator is actually the closest thing to my world's current technology.
comradery: (come again?)

[personal profile] comradery 2012-10-22 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. Yeah, that's right. I remember reading a little on that. [Not a lot, though.]

Oh? So a, uh, what was it called...a smart phone?
pishirogane: ([Chibi] Urr...)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-10-22 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose a full history lesson isn't entirely necessary...

That's right.
