Phase 3: Mission 153
Characters: Grand Canyon mission goers, victims, medics
Location: Grand Canyon
Rating: R
Time: Feb 5, 2009, mission starts at dawn
Description: Event links list.
The scouts had done their jobs well and the mirror deposits its travelers just at the end of the area Shibusen has closed off as their mission target. It's still dawn, the sun barely visible over the horizon. The witches hasn't noticed them there yet, the scouts say, so it's still possible to take them by surprise.
This is what the agents are told: In the rock face of the Grand Canyon is a cavern system made up of many small caves and three large ones. The large caves contain a kishin egg pit, the kidnapped agents and civilians, and what appears to be a machine at one end. There are about five dozen zombies crawling the area, and an equal number of ants, spiders, and ravens on top of it.
Worst of all, the scouts report that they had sighted a few of the agents patrolling for the Witches. The scouts hadn't been certain if these ones had soul perception or other abilities, and had given the area as much space as they could in order to avoid an early confrontation. Still, it's bad news and it looks like a fight with some of the kidnappees themselves is inevitable.
Not much time is given to the agents after the briefing before they're being ushered into place. A few scouts are going to be causing a commotion some distance away to distract the familiars and zombies, clearing a path for the agents. After that, it's all up to them.
[ooc: Just put up your own threads with the subject line [Characters][Feeding Cave/MMM Cave/Kishin Egg Pit/Elsewhere][Open/Close]
Kidnappees can go thread in the caves while waiting for the rescuers, too.
For those who want to thread with a witch, please add it in the subject line so we know where to go!
This day change will be one week irl.
The mirror will stay open for anyone who needs to be rushed back to the medics.
For those handwaving, please put your summaries here for the meister points and soul tally record.]

Ryoki had come for him that day, even if he ended up hurting Leo more than anybody else. Leo had to go.
He had hoped that he might be able to pick up Luke once again once he was on the other side, but the redhead hadn't come. If he thought about it he hadn't seen him for quite a while now. Ignoring the sting of guilt for not checking on him sooner, he stretched upright to scout the new arrivals for anybody who might look like a partner-less Weapon. If there wouldn't be one soon he'd have to just go in and try his luck on his own, but he- hey, he knew that white hair and the nasty hand!
"Hey! Al!" Calling out to the human, Leo shoved his way towards him as soon as he saw him come through the mirror and was sure that he was on his own.
no subject
"Leo!" He begins making his way sideways through the people still coming in from the mirror, trying to reach him and not get in anyone's way at the same time. He can't help wondering why Leo was also alone, did he plan on fighting by himself too? He didn't think very many people did that in this place.
no subject
"Hey. 'Sup, don't tell me you're planning on going in there all on your own even though you're just a vanilla human!"
no subject
"I could fight by myself if I wanted to!" Not that he actually wanted to. He wondered if Leo didn't either, was that why he had come over? It was hard to say with him, but he seemed to be alone. "What about you?"
no subject
Turning a little more sober, he nodded towards the cave system. "But it seems like stuff looks really nasty in there. They somehow got some of the people they took to fight for them and I can't do anything about that while I'm without a Weapon." Because he would end up killing some poor bastard again if they got in his way.
"Do you have a Meister for this?"
no subject
"No, I came alone." His expression changes as he looks from the entrance to the caves back to Leo, becoming more thoughtful. Although initially hesitant to work with anyone else, the other guy certainly seemed the type to be able to hold his own. Still, he pauses for a moment before finally throwing the question out there; "Did you want to try something?"
no subject
He still didn't feel at ease with the thought of just going and attempting a resonance with somebody he didn't fully trust, but then again he didn't think that he'd ever be fully comfortable with letting somebody close to him ever again so the point was pretty much moot. He needed to get in there and make sure they got his friend out and with a weapon it was just a safer bet. Trying to still look comfortable and confident with the situation and slightly panicking inwardly, he smiled. "Working together ups both of our chances in this, so wanna give it a try?"
no subject
"I don't know how much you'll like it," was all he admitted, "but we can try if you think that will help."
no subject
Since when had talking about using bringing and using weapons for serious become so normal for him? The Half pushed the thought down. "Is there anybody in particular ya want to look for?"
no subject
Because Allen realized not everyone was like him, willing to jump head first (and weaponless) into danger for people they hardly knew. Maybe Leo was like that too, or maybe he had someone he was looking for.
no subject
He flicked his cigarette to the ground and ground it out. Stemming one hand against his hip, he gave Allen a challenging look. "I hate seeing people die, that's all. You're welcome to pick a fight if you have a problem with that."
no subject
Then he brightens up a bit, as it sinks in that he actually has someone to fight with. "We shouldn't stand around anymore if we want to save anyone. Let's go find your old friend, okay?"
no subject
"Ex-friend," he corrected Allen almost automatically. "We were close but that's changed." Offering his hand to him, he added, "Can you change? We better try if we can work together out here first unless you're keen on having our resonance broken while we're in that killer of an ants nest."
asdfghjk wow i'm sorry this is so late
Allen reached out his own hand, taking hold of Leo's and letting all his thoughts slip into that of transforming. It took a couple seconds, but then he felt his body shift slightly. A moment later and the other boy would find himself holding a silver mask in his hand. It didn't seem very impressive at first, he was sure.

At least it was no sharp-shooting dildo again.
"So.. If I want to use you I have to put you on?"
<33
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure my abilities don't work otherwise." At least that's what he assumes, considering he's never actually used any of them. It made sense to him, though.
no subject
Taking a deep breath, he forced himself to calm down. "How is it?"
no subject
"It's not so bad." Which was true, he could easily withstand a fight like this. "What about you?"
no subject
Flexing his fingers, he gave the mask a questioning look. Or tried to, as good as one could do it while wearing the thing - person - in question. "How do you work? Damn, I'll never get used to that."
no subject
"You have to touch them, the aku-- the kishin eggs." He knew that much, although the extent of what it actually did was beyond him at the moment. "It should do some damage."

He started walking towards the entry of the caves that held some of their friends and a whole lot of nasty things that wanted to gnaw on their bones.

His monologue was cut off when a pained yell followed by an inhuman shout echoed through the corridor they were moving in from the other end. "Shit!" Focusing and trying to channel his thought to Allen, he asked 'What should we do? Try'n look for what that was or keep our heads down and look for your friends?' Moving on without finding the source of that nasty sounds sounded more appealing to him, if he had to be entirely honest. A big part of his survival strategy entailed not getting himself into danger unless he had a good reason to.
