Phase 3: Mission 153
Characters: Grand Canyon mission goers, victims, medics
Location: Grand Canyon
Rating: R
Time: Feb 5, 2009, mission starts at dawn
Description: Event links list.
The scouts had done their jobs well and the mirror deposits its travelers just at the end of the area Shibusen has closed off as their mission target. It's still dawn, the sun barely visible over the horizon. The witches hasn't noticed them there yet, the scouts say, so it's still possible to take them by surprise.
This is what the agents are told: In the rock face of the Grand Canyon is a cavern system made up of many small caves and three large ones. The large caves contain a kishin egg pit, the kidnapped agents and civilians, and what appears to be a machine at one end. There are about five dozen zombies crawling the area, and an equal number of ants, spiders, and ravens on top of it.
Worst of all, the scouts report that they had sighted a few of the agents patrolling for the Witches. The scouts hadn't been certain if these ones had soul perception or other abilities, and had given the area as much space as they could in order to avoid an early confrontation. Still, it's bad news and it looks like a fight with some of the kidnappees themselves is inevitable.
Not much time is given to the agents after the briefing before they're being ushered into place. A few scouts are going to be causing a commotion some distance away to distract the familiars and zombies, clearing a path for the agents. After that, it's all up to them.
[ooc: Just put up your own threads with the subject line [Characters][Feeding Cave/MMM Cave/Kishin Egg Pit/Elsewhere][Open/Close]
Kidnappees can go thread in the caves while waiting for the rescuers, too.
For those who want to thread with a witch, please add it in the subject line so we know where to go!
This day change will be one week irl.
The mirror will stay open for anyone who needs to be rushed back to the medics.
For those handwaving, please put your summaries here for the meister points and soul tally record.]

Because Allen realized not everyone was like him, willing to jump head first (and weaponless) into danger for people they hardly knew. Maybe Leo was like that too, or maybe he had someone he was looking for.

He flicked his cigarette to the ground and ground it out. Stemming one hand against his hip, he gave Allen a challenging look. "I hate seeing people die, that's all. You're welcome to pick a fight if you have a problem with that."

Then he brightens up a bit, as it sinks in that he actually has someone to fight with. "We shouldn't stand around anymore if we want to save anyone. Let's go find your old friend, okay?"
no subject
"Ex-friend," he corrected Allen almost automatically. "We were close but that's changed." Offering his hand to him, he added, "Can you change? We better try if we can work together out here first unless you're keen on having our resonance broken while we're in that killer of an ants nest."
asdfghjk wow i'm sorry this is so late
Allen reached out his own hand, taking hold of Leo's and letting all his thoughts slip into that of transforming. It took a couple seconds, but then he felt his body shift slightly. A moment later and the other boy would find himself holding a silver mask in his hand. It didn't seem very impressive at first, he was sure.

At least it was no sharp-shooting dildo again.
"So.. If I want to use you I have to put you on?"
<33
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure my abilities don't work otherwise." At least that's what he assumes, considering he's never actually used any of them. It made sense to him, though.

Taking a deep breath, he forced himself to calm down. "How is it?"
no subject
"It's not so bad." Which was true, he could easily withstand a fight like this. "What about you?"
no subject
Flexing his fingers, he gave the mask a questioning look. Or tried to, as good as one could do it while wearing the thing - person - in question. "How do you work? Damn, I'll never get used to that."
no subject
"You have to touch them, the aku-- the kishin eggs." He knew that much, although the extent of what it actually did was beyond him at the moment. "It should do some damage."

He started walking towards the entry of the caves that held some of their friends and a whole lot of nasty things that wanted to gnaw on their bones.

His monologue was cut off when a pained yell followed by an inhuman shout echoed through the corridor they were moving in from the other end. "Shit!" Focusing and trying to channel his thought to Allen, he asked 'What should we do? Try'n look for what that was or keep our heads down and look for your friends?' Moving on without finding the source of that nasty sounds sounded more appealing to him, if he had to be entirely honest. A big part of his survival strategy entailed not getting himself into danger unless he had a good reason to.
no subject
"Let's go that way," he decided after a long pause, "We should stop whatever it is before it can hurt anyone."

Coming to a halt, Leo inhaled sharply. The air was soaked with the tell-tale tangy odor of blood. "Do you smell that? Blood, and not little." Without him noticing, his lips drew back to bear his fangs. "I doubt anybody's still alive over there." Clenching his fists, he ducked and sneaked closer. Having come that far, the half-lion wanted to at least see what was going on. (It was definitely not because he wanted to make sure that they weren't abandoning anybody who might still be alive despite the odds of having that much blood spilled that it made the air stink. Or so he tried to tell himself.)
