Description: Karkat is moving. Gai wants to cheer up his perpetually grumpy friend. Anyone can have seen Gai's post on the network and drop by.



It didn't take many stealth skills at all to plan this party. The filters on the devices made things very easy, and with the labor as greatly divided as it was Gai didn't even have to haul a whole bunch of stuff to where Karkat would be moving in.

Picking the lock was the work of moments and then Gai was in the apartment, starting to set up. Soon others would join him to help prepare, and hopefully Karkat would be slow enough in returning that he would only come when everything was ready. Gai would hope, at least.

After all the excitement that being thirteen has heaped upon my head, I'm not quite feeling anything that could be described as elation about this newest birthday. I will make allowance for a brief flicker of gratitude that I will no longer have to stand by my mailbox and pine away for you presents that never come, though.

There's just something lacking in receiving packages that have been denoted as afterthoughts by the postal service. [somewhere, the Peregrine Mendicant is screaming for a reason she doesn't understand]

Yeah, it really sucks. I have no idea how yours always got there on time! [ The failure of the mail is truly horrible. ]

It's quite simple, really. I simply gathered some data on the delivery patterns of the post office in regards to obscure addresses such as your own and drew up an average delay for shipping. After that it was just a matter of mailing it out with consideration to how long it would take to arrive. [THEY'RE VIOLATING THE CODE]

Wow, that's a lot of work for a little birthday present!

The first thing you should know about the Lalonde household is that there is no such thing as a 'little' present when it comes to birthdays. Celebrations of one's arrival to this world are the best time to launch a devastating attack on the other person, and should never be taken lightly.

In comparison to how I gird myself for Mother's birthday the trite homework I did for yours is negligible.

The entire state of affairs of my home life could very easily classified underneath the unfortunate category. It's something one grows accustomed to with time and repeated victories.

[she rolls her eyes at that again] Is that so? You've got a very high standard to live up to, I feel it's only fair to warn you now.

[her expression is still a friendly neutral, but the temperature of her gaze has lowered into the subzero range] I can assure you that any superficial amicability you felt from her was only the mask she puts on for public appearances and nothing else.
