EVENT: Battle Against the Kishin Adachi
Characters: Anyone who signed up for Mission 254
Location: Matsue City, Japan
Rating: PG13
Time: September 11th
Description: It's time to bring down the Kishin Adachi, once and for all!
Matsue was once a lovely city and a nice place for tourists to visit.
It is now a ghost town.
Some lucky citizens had managed to escape the city before things got really bad, but they are the minority. Even fewer still are those who stayed and are still alive.
Most of them are dead, or worse, they had been driven mad by the Madness the Kishin Adachi exuded and killed their fellow citizens and consumed their souls, becoming Kishin Eggs. To make matters worse, sometimes when you're fighting you'll hear the distant rattling of chains and some primal part of your soul knows, something wicked this way comes.
And then there's all the Yellow Fog...
Only those who persevere will make it to their final destination: the Adachi Art Museum where Adachi is.
It will not be an easy fight, but in order to prevent the fate of this city from befalling on another, everyone will need to try.
((OOC: Please indicate in the subject: Character || OPEN/CLOSED. There will be a separate thread for encountering Adachi. Event information is here.))

ADACHI ART MUSEUM
Now all the gardens were in disarray, the paths strewn with leaves and dried splatters of blood, bridges sat broken over the water and everywhere hung a thick fog.
The Kishin Adachi has made this his battleground...are you brave enough to face him on his hometurf?
Kanji/Naoto
This was the epicenter. This was where they'd tracked him, and this is where they wouldn't budge an inch until one or the other was dead.
"ADACHI!"
Damn, did this situation feel familiar. But if they had it their way, they wouldn't just have him cuffed and hauled off this time around.

Shadows, Kishin eggs, Reapers, they were here now, her energy running high. If only the others could be here to fight with them, but... he already had his encounter with them. Bastard...
She kept Kanji's soul in control. He couldn't let his emotions lower his guard now.

Totally okay with Kanji taking a gunshot or two throughout, btw.

Lily and Lezard | Closed
"Are you holding up all right?" Lily addressed the sketch of Lezard in the book and placed the latest soul atop the pages. Unbeknownst to her, it was the 99th for him. She'd never really kept track of how many they'd fought and the number of demon problems in this world was kind of depressing.
That done, she turned in a circle, trying to make out anything at all in the dense fog, much heavier than it had been in the tunnel near Death City, even thicker than the fog that regularly blanketed San Francisco back home. "And any idea which way we should go? I can barely see a thing in this dang fog!"
no subject
Lily turned in a circle and he was right on it, reaching out for some sort of direction.
"The area is clear, but it seems the flames haven't burned away any of this mist. I suppose that is the power of a Kishin. I sense nothing down this street, however. Perhaps we should touch base with the others. That is soul ninety-nine and it makes me the closest thing to a Deathscythe... perhaps that Tatsumi boy and his gunblade's only line of defense if something goes wrong."
no subject
"I reckon we'd better try to find that museum then..." He was right. Kanji and Naoto had made it clear they planned to target the Kishin but she had no idea if any other pairs had been able to follow and support them. There was a bit of worry through the link as she hurried down the street in what she thought was the direction to the museum. The atmosphere seemed even more oppressive this way if possible, the fog thicker, and the air eerily quiet other than the slap of her soles against the pavement and her harsh breathing.
After several blocks, she stopped to listen. A faint rattling, just barely audible. Was she imagining it or...?
"Do you hear something?"

Rosalia and D | Closed
It was weird though. All of the sudden, it had just become really quiet. At the corner of the street, she looked left and right as though checking for traffic, but there was nothing.
"I wonder where the Kishin eggs have gone..." They couldn't have beaten them all, could they?
no subject
The smokey animal currently at her side resembled Dreizehn, the doberman he had sold Miss Karen as a bodyguard back in California. Although still not completely opaque, it appeared much more solid than animals they had created before, the souls he had absorbed in Costa Rica giving him the ability to create larger and stronger creatures.
Within the soul space, D concentrated, trying to sense any enemies that might be hiding in the fog. It's a bit difficult to tell for sure with the Madness that filled the city but... "There doesn't seem to be anything else in this block or the next. It almost feels as if something has scared them away."
In the distance, there was a faint rattling, so faint that one might be inclined to think it was simply imagined due to the Madness.
no subject
"Scared away? Why would that be? Aren't they on the Kishin's side?"
If anything, they would be excited right? Maybe, be around with the stronger support? Kinda like going up against a Witch or a familiar. Well, Kishin eggs were proving to be confusing for the young doctor again.
Streets clear, she began crossing. The sound of the chains was still there.
"Hm..." Should she point it out? But if she was the only one hearing it, that might scare D.

Morgan and Kyubey | Closed
Dressed in that pirate wench outfit again, she swung her cutlass at a kishin egg that resembled a cross between some kind of modern sculpture and a tree from the museum's garden. They were still halfway across the city from the museum itself but it seemed enemies were spreading out from the center of the trouble and this wasn't the first encounter they had.
"Is it just me or do the things we fight just keep getting more ridiculous?" she asked as she dodged a swing of a branch and knocked the statue/tree over the head with the sword's hilt.
no subject
A once bustling city in Japan, Matsue was nothing but a battleground. Kyubey was much more familiar with this sort of setting and watching individuals battle through it. His tail curled in his space, red eyes looking out from the gem as the next egg fell. He was going to get a good number of souls from his mission.
no subject
She hacked a couple of the branches off and the creature fell to the ground, dissolving into black smoke. After skewering the soul left behind, she continued on towards the museum, keeping an eye out for any movement in the fog.

Edgeworth and Genesis | CLOSED
His weapon - or rather, Weapon - of choice was in his hands now, flames blazing merrily. Three kishin eggs writhed in pain before them, each engulfed in fire from their resonance attack. It doesn't take long for them to burn away into nothingness, leaving their bright red souls behind.
Edgeworth could have chosen not to kill them, but they had chosen to become violent monsters, and once you started down on the road to becoming a kishin, there was no turning back. He sighs, gripping the Rapier, his mouth a grim line. He was used to carrying the Rapier despite it being longer than he was tall, and the weight of the saber at his hip was familiar to him. The gun, on the other hand, was more like a...burden.]
I would say that we thankfully have yet to meet our...Shadows, but that could change at any time.
no subject
However, this was still their mission. They had an objective. And in times of war, there was no such thing as mercy if you wanted to win. In this case, their goal had the fate of the rest of the world resting in their hands. If they failed, Madness would spread all over the world. If they won, then they could be one step closer to ensuring a longer time of peace throughout this world.
This time wasn't one for dwelling on the bigger picture, though. Right now, they had an immediate threat: the possibility of meeting their shadows again. Genesis, in particular, was truly hoping not to see his. Coming to terms with what he did in his past was bad enough. To see it face him in a physical manner would be worse. And he did not want to imagine Edgeworth going up against the merciless him.]
Indeed. We shouldn't let our guard down.
no subject
No...this next enemy wasn't a kishin. It was a figure emerging from the fog. A figure with bright yellow eyes, and worst of all, Edgeworth's looks. As it speaks, it speaks with Edgeworth's voice, only laced with more malice - a true Demon Prosecutor.]
You dare to place your partner in danger? You continue to hide behind Genesis Rhapsodos, even after he was infected with the Black Blood...on your account!
[This was not new to Edgeworth, not after the training. But hearing it again, in the midst of this desolate city...this was different. His blood runs cold, and his grip on the Rapier tightens so hard that his knuckles turn white. The Shadow grins - a predatory, hungry grin - as it wags its finger, as if chastising a child.]

Psii and Ammy | closed
Knew what to expect, going in, but could not call self prepared. Was sure nervousness showed through resonance with Amaterasu. Maybe her ability to calm would help, when encounter with shadow self became inevitable.
Empty city was unsettling, calling (perhaps inevitably) to mind distant memory of what Alternia became. Psii tried not to think of own role in causing that desolation. But shadow would be sure to have much to say on topic.
Do not like this at all, he told Amaterasu.
no subject
She didn't, but she was confident. Her soul, though strong, was not properly working as expected in the fog, but she was pushing back enough to shield Psii. She didn't fear; she continued to fight. Still, she had to take care of Psii.
Tossing her head, she huffed and stopped, fur rising. She was smelling something; Kishin Eggs to be precise. Steadily, they were coming closer, but she was prepared.
no subject
When shadow appeared, looked much as before, biowires trailing from arms and torso, wrapping its head. Psii could all but feel them attached to self all over again, and the shadow bared its fangs in twisted parody of a grin.
"But they never really went away, did they? You miss them, Mituna. Don't pretend you don't. Was so much easier then. Can you really think coming here and being reunited with family, only to lose everyone all over again, hurts less?"
At least got to see them again, Psii retorted. Knew arguing was terrible idea, but couldn't let shadow just say those things unchallenged.

Neji and Lee | Closed
He doesn't really have any intention of going inside, but rather acting as a guard for those who were, as well as in range enough to provide backup should it prove necessary. For now however, they edge through the city on the lookout for innocents and Kishin Eggs they can take down in swift order, ignoring the pull of Madness, the whispers through the mist, and the occasional rattle of chains..]
no subject
[Reaching out through resonance, Lee attempts to make sense of something bothering him.]
Do you see anything, Neji? Something... is not right.

But the ever-present shadow of threat is a twist in his gut, raising the hair on his neck and makes him grit his teeth]
Killing intent. [But it's so much more than that. Killing intent is straight-forward, and this feeling is all-encompassing- wants to break him down and utterly destroy him until there's nothing recognizable left] We're being followed.
[The floating vision hides like a shadow in the fog, lurking just out of sight for anyone limited to normal vision. It creeps along at a distance, hovers after them and shadows their steps until they stop]
It'll flee before we can engage it, so we have to drop out of its sight and make it come to us.

Takuto + Yako | closed
It's creepy here.
[Sounds did strange things in fog, and he was pretty sure the sounds they could hear--echoing footsteps, an occasional shout, a clanging crash, a raspy metal-on-metal, like chains--were eerie before they'd entered the fog. He reached for Yako's hand to give it a squeeze.]
no subject
{She squeezed back, and did her best to remain as calm as possible. She might have to shift into Weapon form at a moment's notice, after all, and the more prepared she was the better. Wasting a few minutes trying to sync up because she had worked herself up with worry would just end up getting the both of them killed.}
Close to Keroro
If the only reason I have the power to proect others is because I am a demon then so be it.
It was more important to try to keep Keroro's souls steady in the face of all this Madness as takes out another Kishin Egg with a beam saber.]
no subject
What was that? All that about lying to his friends, being self-serving, selfish, childish....
He was none of those things!
Keroro is still holding onto Eve through their connection, but there's definite spikes and valleys in their wavelength as he alternated being depressed over what he was being told and being really angry.]
